Donna Flora created this Reine dress for Miss France, for the Miss Virtual World contest. I don’t follow pageants in SL, but I saw this dress on the feed awhile back and had to have it. I love big gowns in SL, although there’s never anywhere to go in them. But do you really need a reason to dress up like a Princess in SL? newp!

The Fab Free blog makes me sad, since they don’t live up to their name of blogging FABULOUSLY Free stuff in SL. Fab Free does the community a total disservice by blogging skins that are entirely useless, unless one liked glaringly mismatched seams and boobs with no nipples :X I would recommend Free*Style for all your future freebie hunting needs. It’s a complete insult to people who DO like free stuff.. it’s saying, hey, since you like free stuff, take this piece of shit and clutter your inventory further. /barf
*Note* Fab Free is part of the Second Style Network, one of the largest fashion magazines in SL.
I tried on the new Celia skin by Mila, and my immediate reaction was, “I don’t hate this.” For me, that’s good enough to keep going and see if I can make a skin work. The shine is intense, but since nearly every skin maker in Second Life seems to be adding more shine, pores, and shading directly onto their skins, I thought maybe I should embrace it. It’s supposed to create a realistic, slightly wet look, but it can look strange when your face is glowing and your body skin is completely flat. Some body skins are getting shinier too, but realistically, who wants to look that shiny all the time?
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Celia includes a Shine Reducer layer, although “reducer” might be generous because it barely made a difference. I still needed several layers from Izzie’s to tone everything down, but I didn’t want to make the skin completely matte either. I bought it because I wanted something different, so removing all the shine would defeat the purpose. What bothered me even more than the shine was the pink shading around the sides of the face and chin. If you try Celia, look closely at those areas and decide whether it’s something you can live with because once I noticed it, I couldn’t stop looking at it.
Mila – Celia Skin (with a ton of Izzie’s tattoo fixes added)
This skin is giving me Megan Fox, and although I tried wearing it as a blonde, I don’t think that does it justice. I’ll wear it as a brunette instead. My bigger complaint is the current trend of baking everything directly into a skin. Why not let customers choose whether they want shine, pores, heavy shading, or any of the other extras? Celia even has baked-on eyelashes, which is a total crime against skins. I generally think Mila is a very good cosmetics brand, and Celia was cute enough to convince me to buy it, but between the shine, pink shading, and eyelashes, I don’t think it’s a skin I could wear all the time.
Shaping making has always been a past time of mine, but many people find it frustrating or time consuming. I made a shape for the LeLutka Simone Bento Head, it’s for sale at my store in-world and on Marketplace. I’ve also made a video for you to see it in action!
All Juicy Shapes are custom made to bring out the best features in a specific bento mesh head. Every purchase includes a styling card with detailed information about where to purchase the mesh head, skin, eyes, and hair featured in the ad.
Style Notes: Wear the shape and brows layer with the LeLutka Simone Bento Head. For the best look, wear a mesh body, hands, and feet with your mesh head.
All Juicy Shapes are mod/copy; please make a copy of your shape before making adjustments.
IMPORTANT: This purchase is for a shape only, mesh head not included. The shape is for the LeLutka Simone Bento Head, so it will not look like the ad on any other head.
I moved to a different city this weekend, so I was pretty burnt out and didn’t blog for 3 days. I’m getting back into it now that I’ve finished unpacking a lot of my things. YAY!
Truth released three adorable new hairstyles, I’m sure you’ve seen it worn all over the blogs this weekend. My personal favorite is Billie, cos SL doesn’t have enough hat+hair(styles).
LaGyo – Little princess deer (group gift) | King deer | Queen deer rings
JuicyBomb readers are so sharp! In my last post, I wore the LaGyo rings and you guys pointed out that the ears were gray. I thought it was a deliberate design thing, but when I asked Gyorgyna Larnia about it, she said that it was a temp-texture issue, so oops! on that. I got a replacement, and re-photographed the rings with the proper textures showing.

Inspired by Philip’s journey in transforming his avatar in Second Life, I decided to embark on creating a male avatar. How difficult could it be? I felt quite nervous, as I hadn’t made a male avatar in over a decade. I have lots of knowledge about female fashion, but I am not well-versed in male fashion, aside from knowing that if I ever created a male alt, he would wear Deadwool. I have always thought Deadwool was perfection, so I made a male avatar just to wear it.
I created my alt last month during the Thanksgiving holiday, tried on a bunch of demos, and then logged out because I wanted to wait for the free LeLutka head. I had a general idea of which body I wanted to buy, and it would definitely be one of the bodies supported by Deadwool. Last night, I logged in again and decided it was time to give my newly created alt a makeover.
Meet George. Yes, that’s right; he is named after Gorgeous (Gogo), and he’s quite the shopper. I gave my alt L$10,000 lindens to spend on his wardrobe. Since the LeLutka 12 Days of Christmas event was underway, I didn’t need to purchase a mesh head, which saved me some money. When making an avatar in Second Life, it’s important to have both a body and a head before making any additional decisions. I am wearing the free LeLutka Camden head, which also included a very nice skin. Normally, I am quite picky about skins, but after trying a couple of free gifts from brands in the 12 Days of Christmas event, I thought that the default skin was the nicest. I wanted George to have manly vibes rather than look like Gogo’s twin; some of the other brands were simply too pretty.
With the head sorted, I needed to choose a body. I can’t recall why I opted for the Signature Gianni body over the Belleza Jake body, but it cost me L$3,900, which accounted for the majority of my budget. Deadwool supported Belleza, Gianni, and Legacy bodies, if I remember correctly. I opted not to purchase the Legacy body because it requires enabling media in Second Life for the HUD to function.
The remainder of my budget was spent on Deadwool clothing, with the most expensive item being the L$2,590 fatpack of Dean Jeans from Deadwool. I wanted a specific color in the fatpack, meaning George will have to wear these jeans forever since they were expensive.
The most challenging aspect of creating a male avatar was finding a suitable hairstyle. I have always loved Wings hair, so I visited the store and, for the first time, tried on male Wings hair. Last night was a night of firsts for me; I experienced multiple new things, such as trying on a male LeLutka mesh head and purchasing from Deadwool. I also felt insecure about my height, as many male avatars I encountered were significantly taller.
My friend suggested that I visit the Man Cave event, because the brands there are giving away lots of gifts for this round. I was already at Man Cave last month gathering demos, as it is one of the events that caters specifically to men. It seems this will become my go-to event for George whenever I want him to go shopping. If you know of any other similar events, please let me know in the comments! I’m a freebies junkie, so I grabbed a bunch of gifts and actually found a really nice suit, a couple of free tops, and some very usable cosmetics.
Initially, I was anxious about creating a male avatar, as I did not want him to resemble Gogo or appear as though he was made by a woman, although that might be inevitable. To minimize the similarities, I chose a tan skin and darker hair for my alt. The entire process turned out to be easier than I anticipated; everything came together in just one night. I think my experience with Second Life fashion (for women) helped, as the underlying concepts remain the same. I will try not to overthink the details, because I think George turned out really nice for now. Alting can be costly, but now I might be able to take the photos I want with Gogo, featuring outfits I want to showcase without relying on someone else’s help.
What’s next for George? An Animation Override, so he can stand and walk better. Additionally, I look forward to introducing him to Gogo! Are you interested in seeing male fashion covered on JuicyBomb? Please let me know in the comments!
I went looking for those flowers and found the garden level where she sells them, but I couldn’t find THOSE in the picture. Do they just look different because of the lighting in the photo or am I going senile early? : )
Really, it isn’t just about the strange and rather pretty dress. Perfect photo and choice of colors.
Especially like the one with a pale yellow backdrop. The lighting is so good.
Love these photos GoGo can you share the location?
hi TL! The location is my home, but those flowers are by pitsch parx, so you can easily create your own flower patch at your home 🙂
Thank you GoGo!!
