Don’t sell your own creations

DO use a reasonable amount of prims, you can always rez more as things sell

I have been using the SL 2.1 beta release viewer for awhile now and I was kind of excited that it became an official release! I decided to download it to see if any improvements were made to fix the invisible eyes issue when shadows is enabled and IT IS NOT FIXED. C’mon Linden Lab, please fix this. I can deal with the lower quality photos when shadow is enabled but having no eyes is just creepy.

I merged two images together so I have eyes in the picture, but everything else is unprocessed. Shadows is looking pretty good!! :)
Once a long time ago, I entered a contest in SL. It was one of those voting contests where you submit your picture and the the general sl “public” tp’d in to click on your picture to vote for you. The sponsors specifically said people shouldn’t tp their friends or offer incentives for votes but some did. I think someone even offered gift cards to their store, in exchange for a vote.
The contest left a bad taste in my mouth, cos after the voting has ended, the organizers didn’t pick any of the top entries! One of the sponsors was chosen as a winner along with a few others who didn’t even enter the contest! It felt like the winners were already pre-determined and a huge waste of time.
Didn’t it feel wrong to win a contest you sponsored and also didn’t enter? No? I still won’t shop from some sponsors of that contest cos I felt like they were “in” on the whole thing.
This is why I generally view voting contests in SL as a joke.
You don’t need an award to tell you you’re the best.
If you’re the best, you just know :)
But for those of you that enjoys contests, the Second Style Stylies nominations is out! Vote for iheartsl.com under Best SL Feed, if you enjoy reading it.

A lot of people left comments to ask about the new SL multiple layers option, and yes, I think you can wear up to 5 of any layer. I tried to test this but when I wore too many layers the outfit just looked strange, so here’s me wearing just a few multiple layers :)
I am wearing 2 jackets, 2 under shirts, and 3 tattoo layers!

I probably won’t start wearing more clothes, but I will mix-and-match tons of different tattoo makeup options! I can’t waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Skin designers! Please make some!!
/UPDATE:
Miss Anon sent me a string of emails asking (demanding) that I remove her IP from my website, and has contacted my host to try and get them to remove it. I went ahead and called my hosting company to confirm with them that this is not a violation of TOS and it’s perfectly legal for me to do so. http://mediatemple.net/company/legal/aup_general.php
Here are some emails Miss Anon sent me:

I am removing your IP because I feel sorry for you, you’re obviously unstable judging from your emails. If you ever attempt to contact me again via email, IM, or by leaving anonymous harassing comments on this site, I will publish your main SL name and screenshots of all your comments. I have remained quiet for several months while you attempt to harass me on my site, and I hope it ends now.
Have a good SL, Miss Anon.
End of UPDATE/
There’s an anonymous comment troll that leaves a comment on my site every single day. Sometimes several times a day, and they never leave their name.

Whoever you are, you visit my site daily. The joke is on you, thank you for the hits.
Here’s a clue, stop leaving comments under anonymous fake names. My site emails all comments to my gmail, along with IP info, so I have a a record of every single comment that has ever been made on all of my sites.
If you have a legitimate complaint, leave your full SL name along with a coherent comment and I will look into it, otherwise, peace out. I don’t want to ban you from commenting, but I’m kind of tired of seeing your IP address and nonsense hit my inbox every day.

!Bang – Glitz 3 pose
Trieste Minuet and her partner, Izaak Minuet sent me a small package of review poses to introduce me to their new !Bang pose shop. It’s not a secret that I get review copies often, but when it’s from a brand I haven’t heard of before, I tend to look at the creator’s profile to see their website and policies and all that.
Now I have to say, if these are alts, they make no secret of hiding it. Both Trieste and Izaak are one moth old. Unless the learning curve in SL has flattened, that’s an incredible rate for anybody to make poses, open a shop with a catchy brand name, get cute avatars, find established bloggers and learn savvy marketing methods. Yes, I think they’re savvy.

!Bang – Glitz 2 pose
Whose alts are they? I want to ask… cos I think I know who it is, but I don’t really know if I should. I’ve seen many businesses run by alts in SL, for many different reasons. Sometimes the main avatar needs a break, or they want to branch out, or they want a nice tidy inventory to work with. Whatever the reason, well done, you’re definitely launching with a !Bang.
A friend of mine said, they must want to be “on my radar” so to speak, cos they did find me to send review copies. Anybody that knows me, knows I am curious and I ask questions! Cos guess what? I was a newb for a long time in SL and it makes me feel stupid that one month old avatars can run savvy businesses.
My guess is, these avatars may be new but they are owned by very experienced and savvy SL’ers. :)
* This is just a guess! If I am wrong, my apologies in advance.

I’m really tired of the way I blog. I’ve been doing it for 3 years now so it really feels like it’s the same ol’ same ol’ every day. If I’m tired of the way I blog, I can’t even imagine how bored to tears you must be from how predictable this blog has become. Are you guys bored? Do you want to see something different? SL blogs use to have personality, you could tell one blogger from the next. Everyone used a different Windlight setting, does credits a different way, or their avatars just looked different.
Sometimes when I’m scrolling the feeds now, I see entries written by other avatars that could easily have been written by me. Skin reviews? Virtually indistinguishable now. Most of us do this:

There’s nothing wrong with this format, in fact, it’s a pretty smart way to show makeups and blog skins. But when 10 bloggers shows the same 10 makeups, in the exact same format, it gets pretty boring.
What I’m trying to say is, I want to change the way I blog. I haven’t figured out how yet, but I’ll try to think of something different. I’m tired of being virtually indistinguishable from the rest of SL fashion bloggers.
Is Gridsyndicate.com feeding your site without your permission? I discovered this today after following a referral link, and also saw a lot of other SL blogs on there too.
It’s bad business to syndicate people without their permission.
I have sent an email requesting that my blog be removed from syndication by emailing brad@stonepixelco.com.
A quick google search shows that the site is owned by this guy.
How unprofessional.
/Update/ After I sent my email, Juicybomb was removed from syndication but I am bringing this post back so I don’t accidentally delete it.
This seems to be happening more frequently lately, with site owners who think that they can scrape info my blog (and yours too!). I see this as a problem as it is not free advertising for me, it is free content for them. That’s a big difference.
If you didn’t submit your site for syndication somewhere and you see them feeding your content, ask to be removed.
Cajsa asked two very interesting questions to Bloggers on her plurk timeline, so I thought I would re-post it here and also write my responses.
Bloggers! Two Questions!
1) How long did you blog before you received your first review copy from a designer that was not a close friend?
My first blog was kind of a mess. I was not aware of the fashionplanet feed yet, so I didn’t read anybody’s blog. I just made one to document my shopping and stuff I did with my friends. I never wrote a single review or did proper credits. Then one day, a friend showed me the fashionplanet feed and I saw so many fashion bloggers, some of them had great pics, some of them didn’t. I thought I could do it better, so I took my blog more “seriously” and moved it from Vox (lol, right?) to WordPress.
Oh, and nobody ever sent me any review copies just because they liked my blog. I didn’t have any designer friends either, I just fangirl’d them from afar, LOL!!!
2) How long did you blog before you first requested a review copy of an item from a designer? (not a friend)
After I blogged for a few months, I asked Raven Pennyfeather (and Harper Beresford) for review copies of gorgeous House of Rfyre gowns. So yay! Thanks girls for not turning me away and dashing my fashionista dreams :P
I really didn’t ask for many review copies until I felt confident that my blog had traffic and and decent pictures. There were lots of already established bloggers then, and of course, Linden Lifestyles and the Second Style blog/mag. I felt like I wasn’t anywhere near their level of traffic so I didn’t feel “deserving” of review copies.
I think that my experience as a fashion blogger differs from some of the new fashion bloggers now. I barely ever saw “review copies” mentioned back then, but now almost every designer has a policy listed somewhere in their profile or website, which encourages more bloggers to ask for them.
How I feel about the state of SL fashion blogging now is.. eh.. I’ll tell you guys another time :P
