Have you ever felt more in touch with yourself when embracing your culture’s garb? I felt pretty awesome today donning a virtual recreation of Mardi Gras Indian Queen headwear (that I made myself) for the Avatars Against Trump challenge. Behind me is a combined veve that represents the voodoo loas of Baron Samedi and Maman-Brigitte.
These two ancient spirit-gods represent love and death. Death, in tarot, doesn’t just mean the literal interpretation of someone’s life ending. It also means change. Anything that dies and isn’t a person but is a thing (a project, a relationship, a sim) will end, but will possibly change into something else.
If you approach the gods and ask for death or change, don’t do it lightly. Ask for justice and let the gods do as they will. Otherwise, you might not get the change you’re looking for.
In this picture, I ask for the Baron not to dig America’s grave. Remember, what is not a person and “dies” will undergo a change… and I very much feel the change the country undergoes will not be good if current events continue.
Where the Baron either admits or denies a soul to proceed to the next world, Maman-Brigitte is a healer and loa of love. I must say that with our country being as torn as it is now, we have a lot of love to employ and healing to do.
I am horrible about leaving my phone at home – like really horrible. This happened twice last week and a coworker of mine could not get why I really didn’t care! Sometimes being without a phone is freeing: No obsessive checking of social media or the news and no unwanted phone calls. Just…quiet.
Second Life is like that for me at times as well. You see I have this super secret alt that nobody knows – in fact she is still dressed in her noob clothes! So for those days when all I want to do is roam around looking at pretty places, I log her in. Peace and quiet and pretty pictures is all we need at times.
“Elle Couerblanc here, reporting live from the 10th Rez Day event for the SL Diva, Elizabeth Hallstrom” (the roar of the crowds can be heard behind her).
“WAIT A MINUTE,” a fellow says to the reporter, “Who is Elizabeth Hallstrom exactly?” At this point, Elle covers her mic and turns to the fellow and replies in a curt tone, “Elizabeth is me you fool! Well I am her and she is me and we are…never mind you idiot, GET OUT OF MY FACE AND LET ME DO MY JOB!”
Whoa…what a dramatic moment right? You see, Elizabeth was my very first avatar in Second Life and she was brought into this alternate reality on exactly January 27th, 2007 probably sometime around 3PM SLT. Yes there have been others to follow: Lizzie Lexington, Betty Paramour and Bettencourt and eventually, Ms. Elle Couerblanc! But I really do like Ms. Hallstrom, so every 6 months or so, I bring her out of the closet, dust her off and make her all pretty once again. You see, if i were define one of my avatars as the closest to “me”, it would be Elizabeth.
So Happy Rez Day Ms. Hallstrom and I hope you have many other rez days to come!
Valentine’s Day came early! This absolutely stunning Angelberry set is from Blueberry at The Epiphany. What I like about this set is that you can mix-and-match the colors to make your outfit unique. I chose Lover and Shine (red and gold) for my look today, cos they pair so well together.
This newly released Anna Blouse from Ricielli is so pretty and the fabric folds are ultra realistic. I am pairing it with the High Waisted Shorts also from Ricielli. Truth released three gorgeous hairstyles at The Epiphany (a gacha event); I am wearing the one called Ice and a matching crown. This is what I call awesome princess hair, and a total must have if you like long hairstyles.
Look at my gorgeous Lola Wedges from Maubray. The shoes include a HUD to change textures + color for both the upper and heel part. I picked floral print cos I don’t have a lot of floral printed shoes in SL, and I am so in love with these.
What I’m Wearing:
Truth Hair – Ice + Bangs, Crown
Ricielli – Anna Blouse, High Waisted Shorts (Ocre)
Maubray – Lola Wedges
