It’s day 10 of Blackout August and I still haven’t spent a single Linden. Gifts and freebies are fair game though, and yesterday I received an updated copy of the Snow Rabbit (S@R W01X) mesh head. I originally blogged this head over a year and a half ago, and it’s been updated several times since with great improvements to the HUD and features. This 3.0 update adds more volume to the eyelashes, so of course I had to try it.
When I put on my saved S@R outfit, something strange happened to the shape I made last year. Rather than troubleshoot, I decided to start fresh with a brand new shape and pair it with a new skin. The S@R head reminded me how much I love it, especially since it works with EvoX skins. If only the eyes were compatible with the EvoX HUD too, that would be perfect.
While creating the new shape, I noticed the nose is slightly crooked. Some Second Life residents would call that a charming feature, while others like me prefer a smoother profile. It does give the face personality if that’s your thing.
Today I’m wearing the Magnolia skin from Amara Beauty. It’s new at The Arcade, but I didn’t buy it. My friend gifted it to me. Gifts don’t count toward Blackout August, but I’m keeping paid items to a minimum this month and digging into my inventory instead. If you own any Amara Beauty skin, you could pair it with the S@R head and get a similar look.
One thing about the Magnolia skin that surprised me is that the no brows version is only available in the RARE. Annoying. I always wear no brows, so if my friend hadn’t sent me the RARE, I wouldn’t wear this skin at all.
If you’re still thinking about joining Blackout August, you can start anytime. Maybe you want to slow down your shopping, maybe you want to save money. Both are good reasons. I’ve seen people make rude assumptions about participants, as if we’re all struggling with some kind of shopping addiction. LOL. I buy what I want, and sometimes I buy too much, but I’m not running out of Lindens or spending money I don’t have. The only time I run low is when I decide to buy a region or go to an SL auction. For me, this is about showing that shopping isn’t the only thing to do in Second Life. You could be like Philip Linden, never change your clothes, and still enjoy this world.
A friend of mine observed that most bloggers (myself included) typically just say they love love love something, and it does get boring! I told her that I usually DO love an item, and I just leave the bad stuff out if it’s something that can be easily overlooked.
For example, I love the print on this Nayar Katey-Kini. I also think this added sculpted bow on the back is a cute touch. But I’ve also noticed that this creator is newer, and therefore not experienced with making perfect seams (yet). Can it be overlooked? Maybe. I know that most people claim they “don’t really look there”, but I noticed. I won’t say something is PERFECT if it’s not, I just won’t mention the ‘bad’ things. Yep, I’m totally guilty of omission.

I can’t say the reason why some bloggers won’t mention flaws but here are MY reasons:
1. I didn’t notice it
2. I don’t think it’s a “problem”
3. I don’t think you’ll care
4. The creator is my FRIEND 😛 (*gasp* a biased blogger?)
Clarification on #3: YES some people do NOT care about seams at all. I’ve encountered this a lot with skins. I have pointed out seams in the past and people have made numerous reasons why this is acceptable. Like — Oh Gogo! I don’t are about seams cos…
I’m re-decorating! I still haven’t found a cottage that I like as much as my current one (that’s a few years old), but I’m hoping that the upcoming Home & Garden Expo will have something that updated that I’ll like! HINT: I like cheerful small beach cottages with two rooms, and a porch.
I rarely ever change my decor once I have something set, just so that it feels more like “home” and not a different space every time. Do you change your decor often, or does it stay the same? Let me know in the comments!
Today I am wearing the new Saloon Dress from Fishy Strawberry. This dress comes in two versions (sleeves & no sleeves) and a HUD to change frills texture. What I like about this dress is that it gives great cleavage, and the style is adorable!!

I updated my Second Life Official viewer today, and noticed that filters are now available for SL pics!! How long has this been a feature? All of the filters are pretty basic, and can easily be done with a single click using any online image editor, if you’re not savvy with Photoshop. I’m impressed that SL has this feature, especially for my friends that don’t like to edit their photos, or don’t know how.

SWA has just released these beautiful Cropped Jacket, they come in several patterns (plain, skulls, lace or roses) and includes two styles (open and closed jacket).
I have decided to pair my outfit today with a cute new hairstyle from Tiny Bird. The Lola hair is a short 'do with lots of short layers all around that curls slightly at the ends.
*note: The dress I'm wearing is from Last Call, I forgot to jot down the name but it's discontinued anyways. Any dress that has a shirt/undershirt layer will work here! 🙂

Isn’t this hairstyle from Exile just gorgeous? This is the Liaison hairstyle released at Collabor88’s birthday round. I absolutely love the color-changing beads that comes with it (necklace not worn). I was playing around with the different hair colored HUDs when I noticed that the unicorn hair colors are part of Exile’s hair packs! I don’t know what the official name for this hair texture is, but let’s just call it unicorn. Let’s pretend I noticed this before, cos I just asked Kavar when this became official and he told me AGES AGO, and instantly unfriended me for not noticing. JK.
