Achariya has started an interesting new photo project, by photographing avatars as they are — with little advance notice to change! Check it out, my eyes are closed and lots of cleavage, LOL!!
Dear events, I surrender. There are too many of you. I love stuff, but I don’t like feeling pressured by time and not knowing exactly where something will be. Isn’t that weird? Since I’m always telling you guys to go places, and buy things. I’m pretty sure there are other events this week, but Skin Fair already has my attention.
If you want demos without fighting the lag, join the Skin Fair 2013 group in-world.

Newly launched Nayar brand has some amazing goodies in store. The seams & textures are great. If you're looking to stock up on some staples for your wardrobe, visit Nayar! I like the denim skirt and leggings, they'll go with everything!
I'm wearing the ISSIGONIS Sayla skin, it's an older release but a fav. In addition to having a gorgeous face, the skin texture on the feet & hands are some of the best I've seen in SL.
I’d say gacha is back, but let’s be real, it never left. I’ve been in Second Life long enough that the thrill of gachas wore off ages ago, well before they were officially banned. Blind buying duplicates got old fast. At some point, I stopped chasing full sets and rares. I just didn’t care anymore.
I have a lot of friends who are still deep in the gacha game. I’ve been there too, dropping L$3,000 to L$5,000 on a single machine just to complete a set. It happens.
So yeah, I’m a little surprised to see gacha returning in its original form. Miepon had its flaws, sure, but at least you could see what was coming next. Even if it wasn’t the item you wanted, the transparency was better than the old-school roulette wheel. Gacha is a form of shopping torture. You might get what you want, but chances are, you won’t. Designers love it though. In their own words, it made them a lot more money. And that’s what this is really about: profit. Your money going into their pockets.
I’ve always compared gachas to MLMs. Once you buy in, you’re stuck reselling the stuff you don’t want, unless you’re okay taking a loss. That means wasting time listing duplicates at yardsales or on Marketplace. Or, if you’re feeling generous, giving them away to friends like a broke fairy godmother.
Sure, people are excited gacha’s back, but ask yourself why these events are popping up again so fast. One is launching in two weeks. It’s all about the cash flow. Designers cash in, events need regions (which means more money going to Linden Lab), and shoppers? We’re just the endless source of funding.
I’ll still pull the occasional gacha if it’s really good. But most of the time, I’m fine with whatever I get. I don’t chase anymore. I already have too much. And yet, like the little addict I am, I keep getting more, until my inventory overwhelms me and I start deleting things in bulk. Sometimes I wonder if my entire presence in Second Life is just one long donation to the system.
Because in the end, this game, for me at least, is a shopping game.
In addition to rewarding the TULI update group frequently with awesome gifts, Tuli has also set out some lucky chair items for people who looove getting free stuff! Who doesn't, really? Right now you can score this Tuli pink skully bikini and Tuli stars tattoo (colorable) at Tuli's lucky chair.
Tiny Bird has just released three new hairstyles perfect for the beach & Summer weather because they are pulled back or braided and they're super cute!! I'm wearing Brown hair today because of Gala's new June skins, they're so pretty and goes well with Brunette hair colors.
[ Tiny Bird – Buffy | She Sells Seashells | and Buffy ]
So adorable and the hair ties are scripted to change different colors ~ there are 12 total, and one of them is labeled 'Gogo' and it's pink!! LOL I'm assume that's for me, but you never know! There could be some other Gogo running around the grid who loves Pink as much as I do.
My home & furniture set used for these photos are the Montauk from Painter Designs. I absolutely LOVE Painter Meriman's work so much. His builds are beautiful and they have great proportions and textures. I purchased this home because it was perfect for my island, it even comes with nautical decor! If you're looking for a home, I totally recommend Painter Designs, the customer service is awesome. When I purchased this home a couple of months ago, he only had the Montauk with one bedroom. But 3 weeks ago, I noticed that someone had the Montauk with two bedrooms! So rather than purchase a new home (it was $8,000L), I asked if I could have an upgrade and he did it without charging me extra. Talk about good customer service! 🙂 So I thought I would mention this home here, for anyone that is interested. The outside is beautiful, too.
