I'm wearing an old beloved skin from Laqroki (when it was still RaC) called Carina. I loved this face sooo much, I wore it for more than half a year straight! Back when I was fairly new, people weren't such big skin whores. At least I wasn't. I found a skin that I liked, and I thought that was it. Done! I am hoping that this Carina skin will receive the "glow" treatment from Laq, cos I waaaaaaaants.
Mesh heads are probably the most expensive thing you can buy your avatar in SL; most of them cost over $5,000L. I don’t change my head often due to price (plus having to buy all new add-ons and skins), and the learning curve. All of the heads require a different shape and figuring out how the HUD works.

As you know, I have worn the LeLutka mesh heads almost exclusively since they came out. I saw Kavar using Genus Project heads a lot in his recent ads, and it looks amazing!!! Things I like about Genus Project: easy to modify shape, lots of skins available, options on HUD to adjust makeup opacity and colors, and I like how it looks on me. Things I don’t like: the HUD is confusing, there are two separate HUDs for settings and animations, animations are ugly (ugly is subjective, so I’ll say it’s not as great as LeLutka), no built-in eye control, no easy way to clear all makeups, no way to save looks unless I am missing it.
It would be more fun to change mesh heads if the price of obtaining a mesh head wasn’t so expensive! I didn’t think that Classic and Baby are all that much different, so I wish there were some type of discount like… buy one head, get additional ones for half price.
The Genus Project mesh head costs $5,500L. Kavar gifted me the Classic face, which I love! Then I found out that all of the skins made are for Baby! For the sake of wearing this Delina skin made by Pink Fuel, I also bought the Baby face. The skins made for Baby and Classic are not interchangeable. I found that the eyes and lips area don’t fit if the skin is not made for that particular head. So when you’re demoing skins, take note which head it is made for…. otherwise you’ll end up with lots of frustrations when modifying a shape for it.
Overall, I do recommend the Genus Project mesh heads. Change is refreshing. Change is fun. If Genus Project keeps improving their HUD and scripting, they will become one of my favorites, and perhaps yours too?

My av looks like she’s ready to party in this dress and pair of sexy Gos boots! I am wearing the new Hucci ‘Free Flow’ dress, which has a ruffles attachment and a prim mini skirt.
The Gos ‘Burlesque’ boots I am wearing features a color change menu, to change the colors of the satin texture and laces.
To complete my look, I have paired it with these adorable new ‘My VW Thing Sunglasses’ from Surf Couture. I love these so much — everything from the shape to the textures looks amazing together.
Almost a year ago, I moved into my very first Linden Home. At the time, I calculated the cost, and it was around $6USD/yr with the stipend plus bonus (for being a first-time premium member). Now that the price of a Premium membership has increased to $99USD/yr and the Lindex exchange rate is slightly worse, let’s find out how much it costs to own a Linden home!
It’s almost Spring and spring means flower patterns galore!!! I went to artilleri and bought the Carrie dress because it’s totally spring-y and retrolicious. I feel like a posh retro housewife now. The artilleri Lovely Lily hair flower is sooo cute! It changes textures on touch, and includes 2 different shades of pink — pink and hot pink! <3
Cajsa asked me to contribute my Emotes & Slow Motion Animation tutorial for the Blogger Carnival at SL9B exhibit, so I’ve decided to update the images, but the instructions are all the same. In the original tutorial from 2008, I used another HUD to create the emotes but this year, I have a new favorite! I have mentioned the AnyPose Expression HUD before, and it works beautifully to create facial expressions and also, can control eyes position and hands!
How to create facial expressions using Emotes & Slow Motion Animation:
Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+D, to bring up the Advanced client menu
Go to Advanced -> Character -> Slow Motion Animations and click to enable it (Slow Motion Animations is a feature that slows down animations on your client only, so others will not see this but it is useful when trying to capture dances, emotes, poses, etc.)*note: Don’t forget to uncheck Slow Motion Animations once you’re done using it, otherwise animations will look too slow on your client.)
Play with the random expressions on the Emoter and snap away!!
To make the facial expression above, I used a combination of “Open Mouth” and “Tongue” with Slow Motion Animations enabled. There’s two ways to do this — snap a dozen images and pick the one that you like best, or focus on just the eyes and snap an image, then focus on the mouth area — and combine two that you like best in Photoshop (or any graphics program of your choice). For this image, I have decided not to use PS, and waited patiently to get a combination that I liked. I’m also wearing tattoo lashes, so I don’t have to go without lashes or bother with adjusting prim lashes.

Djinn & Tonic has just released two very interesting designs. These two dresses are different than dresses you would normally see around the grid. I really like the colors on the Death of a Lover dress, but the Mask (traffic light headpiece thing) is kind of too out there for me to wear. However, I think the whole outfit would be really great for fashion photos.

This dress has a great lace pattern on the skirt and pretty roses on the collar piece. I imagine that Frida Kahlo, the famous Mexican painter, might wear a dress like this.
