Gala Phoenix has just released the Elf 2 skins – like the previous Elf skins, but with even more fabulous and NEW makeups!!! I was so obsessed with Elf when it came out, because the face has a cute petite nose and a great line of makeups.
These new Elf skins come in 6 makeups (2 variations each), freckles, Light/Dark versions of each skin tone, and all the usual options from previous Gala skins.
These are all so pretty, it’s very hard to pick a favorite. Thankfully, all Gala fatpacks are only $3,000L and you get ALL makeups & 2 skin tones!!
What Next has a furniture set & Retro TV Camera out at Vintage Fair! My favorite thing has to be the Retro TV Camera, cos it’s just so super cute (and detailed) and also includes a camera operating animation.
I put together my outfit today using some new releases that you’ll find at Vintage Fair. The Sugar Free top from essences is so super darling, and has such a colorful print. I am pairing it with the new Fanciers necklace & earrings from undefined lilies (the teal on the gemstone matches the shirt).
I love this look! I look like I could be a guest on one of the retro late night tv shows.
Visit Vintage Fair // Opening Date: November 11th at 4pm SLT
What I’m Wearing:
LeLutka – Yippie hair (Sweeden)
essences – Sugar Free Top (arcoiris)
Fishy Strawberry – High Waist Pants (Tobacco)
undefined lilies – fanciers necklace & earrings
Elate – Ovarian Cancer Support Ribbon
Maitreya Gold – Shearling Boots
Maitreya – Scrunched PrimSocks (Orange)
&
What Next – Retro TV Camera
What Next – Sophie Chair, Print, Table, Grace Table Lamp
Check out this adorable Zaara Deesha Cropped shirt! I don’t have any shirts like this, so I was pretty excited when Zaara released this in light and dark color packs. I’m wearing White cos it goes with my Hucci Deco Pocket Denim Shorts, and the print detail also matches my hair ties!
A friend sent me a horse for Christmas (zomg!!!!!), and I’ve been trying to come up with a creative riding outfit that isn’t so typical. I think this would work quite well with a matching cowgirl hat and these Maitreya Shearling Boots or any pair of Cowboy boots in SL.
Shout out to Kirsten Corleone for making a fabulous rigged mesh tutorial video! I thought I knew everything about editing mesh (and prims) to fit myself, but even I learned something new! Check out the video and her blog, for more information.
Do you already know everything mentioned in this video? If you found it helpful, let me know in the comments!
The new Allure Makeup set from Fishy Strawberry includes Lipsticks, Faded Lipsticks, and some Eye Shadows. My favorite from this set is the Faded Lipsticks, they blend more naturally with your skin and the lips are fairly large, so they should fit over most skins. I’ve tried them on Pink Fuel Alyx and Laqroki Linnea skin (worn above) and the lips fit perfectly.
’Tis the season of giving. Akeruka is giving two mesh heads to group members, except the group costs L$150 to join. I wasn’t a member, so I paid the fee just to get the Wendy head “for free.” I wanted to try it mostly because I forgot I already tried and blogged an Akeruka head two months ago.
All the things I found difficult then are still difficult now. I still can’t close my eyes without my eyeballs poking through my head. I also haven’t found anyone who makes HD applier eyes for this head, so I’m wearing BoM eyes. To do that, you have to buy the AK BoM Eyes Relay on Marketplace for L$1. Yes, it’s only a Linden, but why wasn’t this included with the head? Since this head isn’t as popular as LeLutka, you’re also going to have a harder time finding eyes made specifically for it.
Even though Wendy works with EvoX skins, my usual Glam Affair skin was not a good fit. I decided to start fresh and try something new, and it just so happens that Traditional Face recently gave out a new group gift skin called Eva. Of course, I wasn’t in that group either, so I paid L$99 to join.
This definitely does not look like Gogo. When I made the shape, I started to see an older brunette woman instead, and I had to lean into the thick brows, which I don’t love, ever. I made it work here, but I couldn’t wear the browless version because the BoM brows I always use sit too high on this head. The HD brows included with Akeruka are even thicker, which is such a shame because there are no thinner options. I. hate. thick. brows.
If you’re already a member of these groups, you can get a whole new look for the cost of nothing. If you’re not, it’s still relatively cheap for a complete makeover, assuming you don’t mind paying a few group fees.
Have you noticed how some brands are no longer updating their Flickr or seem to be moving away from it entirely in favor of other platforms? I honestly can’t be bothered to chase brands from site to site, so if one drops off my radar, so be it. I only even saw this Akeruka gift because of a post elsewhere, and I already lost the link to it. It’s a shame they’ve seemingly stopped updating their Flickr.
Today my Plurk friends told me about a new online photo editor called Ribbet! Last year, when Picnik integrated with Google (closed), a bunch of us (former Picnik addicts) went to Picmonkey. I liked Picmonkey a lot, I even signed up or a whole year of premium service. However, it lacked one really important feature that Picnik had, which is the ability to upload directly to Flickr, instead of having to save the image first to hard drive, then re-upload to Flickr.
I took Ribbet for a test drive today, and I’m already a fan. It has everything that Picnik had, and more! It is Picnik 2.0! All the premium features are FREE now (that may change soon), but I would happily splurge on the upgrades just cos I love online photo editors for simple blogging edits instead of always relying on Photoshop.
Are you using any online photo editors? If so, which one?
I’m still somehow in love with that skin though I’m currently wearing Laq, and I really feel strange in changing my skin. I get so used to the one I’m wearing and it becomes my “virtual me”, so it is kinda hard for me to put on another skin suddenly. I know that some of you might not understand my emotions on that particular topic (I don´t want to use the phrase “skin whore” on that – lol, just kidding ;)), but that´s how I feel. Elf on the other hand was my first first skin as I started a few months ago in SL, and to see these beautiful new makeups gives me kinda warm feelings like being at home again 😉 Perhaps you´ve persuaded me to get some Elf´s, but this is a hard decision for me 🙂
Yanno, I think Curio skins look totally adorable; they are well made, have great skin tone, and they also have a decent variety… but it seems they look adorable on everyone else and only look ‘alright’ on me (idk, maybe it’s the dimensions of my face and maybe I’m just uber-picky about my skin). My fav of the Curio collection, however, was actually Elf 1…. So I really can’t wait to try these out. I’m a sucker for blond brows and lips that look amazingly glossy and shiny; and it also comes with a smokey eyes! I am soo crossing my fingers for this Curio skin to ‘work’ with me…. otherwise, I may just have to tweak my face to fit it, lol.
Not a major fan of curio faces. I love the body detail above all other skins on sl, but the fact the faces are paler than the rest has always bugged me, and I do not find the faces, especially the lips, remotely realistic. They are great if you aren’t after a realistic avatar, but Since I am, they never appealed. On a side note tho, her April skin works perfectly on child avatars. It is a shame she has not ventured into that side of skin making where there is a large gap in the market.
@Graelwyn, I agree, the faces work wonderfully for children & young teens; just gotta keep the torso covered but it’s too bad that a girl can’t wear a sundress in these skins.
