I went to Tickets 4 sim it’s a cute little Winter sim with lots of photogenic places. I think the owner may be Russian, cos he was there typing in Russian when I tp’d in. The sim is quite popular, there were lots of people hanging around there. It’s worth exploring if you like Winter-themed sims!
At the height of Bellisseria, I started attending the Concierge & Land User Group meetings because I wanted the latest tea on what was happening with Bellisseria, Mainland, and land in general. The meeting has since been renamed the Land & Support User Group, and in the beginning, I actually thought it was pretty productive. The Lindens in charge listened to feedback, answered questions, and residents had a chance to bring up things that mattered to them.
Over time, though, I started wondering how much these meetings represent what the average Second Life resident actually wants. The people who attend regularly are obviously going to have the loudest voices, and sometimes those voices result in things the rest of us have to live with. I will never get over the ugly bridges connecting parts of Bellisseria. Instead of one long ugly bridge, couldn’t we have had a cute little island between the two themes, with little boats or walking paths connecting everything? There were so many ways they could have made it cute, but somebody wanted bridges, and now we have bridges.
There are actually a lot of official Second Life user group meetings happening regularly, and I think more residents should attend them, especially if you care about where Second Life is headed. You might be surprised by what other residents are asking Linden Lab to change, and some of those changes will eventually affect YOUR Second Life.
I’ve also been watching recordings of some of the other Second Life user group meetings on Pantera’s YouTube channel, and that’s actually where I first heard some of the discussions around the recent Marketplace changes. One of the new policies will automatically unlist products that haven’t sold in a year AND belong to a merchant who hasn’t logged in for a year. I think requiring both conditions makes the policy way too lenient. In my opinion, it should be products that haven’t sold OR merchants who haven’t logged in. Otherwise, we’re still leaving a lot of unpopular products and potentially unsupported products sitting on the Marketplace.
Sometimes I listen to these meetings and think Linden Lab may be listening a little too closely to whichever residents happen to be the most vocal in the room. Maybe some of these ideas will work out, but I suspect they’ll eventually find out that a few of these policies didn’t accomplish much, or made things worse overall. That’s also why I think more people should attend these meetings. If only the same group of residents shows up every week, those are naturally going to be the opinions Linden Lab hears the most.
My look for the recent Land & Support User Group meeting reminded me of a peasant, which felt very appropriate for a land meeting, LOL. Landed Peasants, reporting for duty! If you own land or care about what happens to Second Life, I really do encourage you to attend one of these meetings sometime. The more residents who show up and speak up, the more voices Linden Lab gets to hear.
At Lil’ NoNo’s, it’s always 11:59pm. The cozy bar is set in a gutted warehouse build, overlooking a cityscape. You’re either there because you’re lonely or looking for trouble–there are no other reasons. Either way, there’s jazz, free drinks (and pay-for ones), cigarettes, and nooks and crannies to explore. The music isn’t bad, either.
Take the elevator next to the bar down to the cellar. There’s a long hallway set up with posters and invites. You know what they lead to–other virtual parcels, yet they’re mostly set up to not hinder your experience of what Lil’ NoNo’s imitates. There’s locked doors you can’t enter, and ones that lead to a small coffee shop and a washateria. They’re probably there for private conversations or a change of scenery for regulars, secrets and favorites for the patrons. On the corner is a convenience store with lucky boards, souvenirs, and snacks, and a street scene where there’s either snow or rain, depending on the current season. And behind the stage of the bar itself where you can’t see, a game room, looking out onto another lonely backdrop of large, ominous buildings.
Places like these make visiting Second Life worthwhile, because of the thought and care put into building them. Aside from some rl branding I spotted in the bar and a mesh figure from a video game, I love this place to death. You can often catch me here nursing a drink.

What better way to spoil yourself, than with these new Exile hairstyles? There are two new hairstyles for girls (shown above), three for men, and new textures released for a few old favorites.
Mmmesh! Maitreya released a bunch of new mesh clothing pieces and shoes recently, but I have to say my favorite is this Athena sweater. The fit is pretty good and the draped back is so sexy! I passed on the long mesh skirt, jacket (too bulky) and the leather pants (didn’t like the pocket, too low), but I liked the Athena Sweater and the Silk Neck-Tie Blouse! The shoes were also not very “me” but I totally see someone with a different style rocking those. What items from Maitreya did you buy?
Starting Sunday, March 8th through Sunday, March 15th, Hope Valley will be holding a fund raiser for Breast Cancer Research. All proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

I’m wearing the new Ubon head from LeLutka. It’s slightly different than Kaya, but I think I’m ready to move on. I spent days modifying my shape to my liking; it’s a work in progress. I shared this raw screenshot on Twitter a few days ago. I love the HD brows so much, and this is the first time I’m undecided between the really thin HD brows or the one I normally wear, the less thin one. They both work so well for this head. I normally only like the bottom two, the rest are way too bushy and thick for me.
I’ve been attending the Concierge and Land User Group meetings and they’re so lively and interesting. I started going to be more informed about upcoming land changes and to give feedback. Wendi Linden & Vix Linden were such great hosts. Here’s the schedule for the meeting — see you at the next one!
I already know a lot about Second Life land, maybe too much. I’m obsessed with regions, Linden Homes, and mainland (even though mainland is my least favorite land product). Recently I learned that some residents don’t utilize the 10% group land bonus because they don’t understand it. I’m currently holding a piece of mainland, and with the group bonus, I can donate my extra tier to my friend. If every Premium member (who doesn’t own a Linden Home) deeds their tier to group, they would have a little extra to donate to a public project or acquire more land. If you own a big enough parcel of mainland, where the 10% bonus is 512sqm or more, you could use that extra to get a Linden Home.
