When I blogged about the new SL username, I couldn’t register “Gogo” because the registration screen told me it was taken! I couldn’t locate the name in search under People either, so I figured it was gone for good. Well… it wasn’t gone. I tried to register it again today and guess who owns Gogo now?! ME! I guess the system was either busy or whoever registered Gogo didn’t bother to click the activation link.
So to the person squatting “Gogolita” – screw yourself. 🙂 They have hidden that name from search now, lol.
But as if you own Gogolita anyway?
Nope! I am not Gogolita in-world >> sends bad karma to whoever took it!
lol.. glad you got your name and thanks for blogging about this I was able to get my name too 😉
Er…. what if they like the name and didn’t mean to “steal” it from you ? O.o
This is highly unlikely. It’s a word I made up that’s not very commonly used (when I google it, almost 90% of the results points to my own stuff) — and registration was opened on the 18th, and that account was created on the 18th. I don’t think a new person who stumbled upon SL would say “zomg, must be Gogolita!” newp.
You might want to keep trying. I got “Anya” and my RL first name today, and both were unavailable yesterday. I will keep trying when I think about it and if I get it, it is yours.
I am pretty sure it is taken because I saw the profile creation date in-world as well as sent them an offline. But whatever, no big deal! I have Gogo! 🙂
The name really doesn’t matter. Has resident after it and it is a name people know from Kill Bill. pretty popular character in other video games and not in honor to you or anything. Just cause you “borrowed” it doesn’t make it your name. Gogolita is a Ultima Online player and EQ, a major hacker actually that ended up getting sued by OSI for posting exploits to the game. A guys name too.
I can call my blog George Lucas and it doesnt mean i own the name.
I’m not going to debate with you on who “owns” Gogolita, nor do I care about the history lesson, but thank you for that LOL. I just know that when SL enabled username, there was a mad dash to grab names to squat ‘em and it just so happens that I think Gogolita was squatted. Deal with it.
“Resident after it” applies only when you are using older viewers. This will eventually be a thing of the past.
I locked in my classic MMORPG name so am happy about that. Though funny thing is, since I started in SL I’ve been using my SL name, Ayami Imako .. in other MMOs sometimes too so its kinda stuck in that regard. Honestly I always just liked it.
my business name is still taken but thanks for shining a little ray of hope there! i will keep trying to grab it!

What I can not believe!
