It’s day 5 of Blackout August. I made it through the weekend without buying anything, which feels monumental. I usually do most of my Second Life shopping on weekends, so I’m starting to feel more confident that I can go the entire month without shopping.
If you’re quietly doing this challenge with me, maybe today you can try something new. Have you tried the Aperture Viewer? It’s the only viewer I’m using for Second Life right now. Today I made a bunch of photo presets in the Aperture Phototools Suite. It’s different from EEP settings because you can enhance colors, add depth of field, adjust glow, and so much more. If I figure out how to share presets, I will.
I shopped from my inventory today. I can’t even remember when I bought this sandwich, but the time stamp says June 22. The shocking part is realizing I have thousands of items I’ve never blogged or worn. Let’s see how many we can uncover this month.
I purchased this bear yesterday to activate the Received Items folder and also changed all of my shops to Direct Delivery now. If you purchase Juicy or cheLLe products, you should look for them in the new Received Items folder, instead of Objects.
The Giusia sim/brand caught my attention this week because they’re the top 6 paid classifieds. I had never heard of this brand before so I went for a visit. This sim is already full of products ranging from skins, shoes, and clothes for men and women. At first glance, the skins look similar to many others on the grid, and the price tag for a ‘fatpack’ is pricey at $20,000L for 16 skins, or $1500L for each skin. There’s a slight discount if you purchase the fatpack, however I wish these skins were broken up into two smaller fatpacks instead of just one to make it more affordable.

Right now there’s a hunt at the Giusia sim, I found 1 free skin near the skins section along with an outfit, and a pair of sculpted pumps. The gift boxes are really easy to find (look near furniture/plants!).

The Helena V-Neck Sweater from The Secret Store comes in basic colors and fun Halloween prints! I love that the HUD includes an option to choose elbow patch colors and turn it on/off, and turn the shirt collar on/off. This sweater is a must-have item for my autumn wardrobe! I’m looking forward to more classic styles like this in more seasonal prints and colors!
Lately I’ve realized that my style in SL is like J. Crew, with a dash of kawaii styles and prints. I adore this style!

About 3 weeks ago, I blogged the FrontKnotShirt from AOHARU. They were only available in floral patterns & plain at the time, but now they available in PLAID pattern too!!! YESSSSSSS………!! These are so sexy, I love how it opens up to reveal a lot of cleavage but does *not* show nipples! I threw on the bra today cos it matched the top, but you can totally wear it bra-less.
AOHARU also released this NoCollar jacket, and it’s sooo sexy. The jacket opens up in the front baring ALL, so you should definitely wear something underneath! I love this jacket cos the sculpted attachments are so well done, and fits my avatar with minimal adjustments. I just shrunk my boobs by 10 points here from 60 to 50, and everything fits like a glove.
In my previous blog post about Second Life/Linden Lab holding invitation-only meetings with Second Life bloggers and influencers, I mentioned that if there ever was a creators’ meeting, you should find out how to get invited. Well, the time has come. There will be a Zoom meeting with Second Life creators, along with Philip Rosedale (Philip Linden) and Brad Oberwager (Oberwolf Linden). Would you like an invitation?
This meeting is being granted to the members of the Creators Supporting Creators Discord server. This Discord server is invitation-only, but here’s how you can sign up: Creators Supporting Creators Application. Once you’re accepted into the server, you can sign up for the meeting using this link: Connecting CSC server members with Linden Lab (form). The deadline to sign up for the meeting is Friday, December 13, 2024. The meeting will be held on Zoom on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 8:30 AM SLT.
If you are a creator, you should sign up for the Discord server and attend the meeting, as your input is valuable. You do not want other residents to speak for you, nor do you want their ideas or interests to be implemented without your input.
I have read some recaps of the other Second Life Zoom meetings with bloggers, and I am concerned by many of the things I have read. I am unsure if the bloggers are reporting accurately, but it seems that if the mobile app does not succeed, Second Life’s future may be uncertain. This is alarming. I am reconsidering my spending on this platform if the state of Second Life is truly that dire. Additionally, someone mentioned that Shop & Hop “may not be the best way to support content creators,” hoping that Linden Lab might cancel this event or scale it back. I love Shop & Hop; it benefits not only creators but also residents. I am sure thousands of residents who visit this event four times a year enjoy it. I am not entirely certain what was said regarding this event, as I am reading it from a fellow blogger’s report, but I hope Linden Lab does not scale back or cancel it. It is the only initiative they have that supports ALL creators and is a fair event that does not charge them anything to participate.
If you are a creator who enjoys initiatives like Shop & Hop, you should definitely attend the meeting because some other creators are advocating for its cancellation in order to promote their own events.
