I don’t take pictures “on location” often so I think my lighting was a lil off there. I was trying to do a light setting that’s bright enough to see our outfits but also convincingly rainy weather (to go with the rain boots, of course).

My latest Home & Garden find is this gorgeous new Coastal Loft Skybox from What Next. The skybox is low prim and includes texture changing windows, door panes, and inside walls. I really liked that there are furniture sets made specifically for this skybox so decorating is a breeze!

After I’ve rezzed all the decor, the total prim count is about 308 prims, which is very reasonable for a fully furnished space. This skybox spacious and flexible; you can use the decor from What Next or mix-and-match your own pieces.

Someone left me a comment with the link to the popular Bring Back Last Name Options jira, which I think is a good idea but it only really benefits newbies (or new alt accounts). I clicked on it to see if any new progress has been made, and came across a link to an even better jira!
Are you a current resident who does not like your SL name? Please vote for the Name Change jira started by a resident name Sexing Oh. I think this jira is better cos it benefits current residents like you and me — IF we wanted to change our name, we should be able to without having to start over with a new inventory or lose our rez date!

Olivia Connaught over at Free*Style blogged a lovely freebie outfit from the Token sim, so I had to go check it out. There are a bunch of complete outfits at this sim, including shoes!!

I don’t know why there are so many fabulous outfits at this Token sim, but it kiiiiiiicks butt!!! If you have a job that requires wearing business attire (land baron? csr? fake ceo?), there are lots of pieces in these that will mix-and-match with other items in your inventory for a posh look.
LeLutka released half a dozen new hairstyles recently! I found this adorable Nook hairstyle to be my favorite, cos it also includes the texture-changing hair scarf. LeLutka also has a “Naturals” pack now! I was delighted that my favorite Blonde hair color, Marilyn was included in this pack, along with BlondeFun, Bourneville, IrishRed, Jessica, Metal, Pitch, and Praline! What a great mix of hair colors, and a great deal for someone who wanted to change their hair color often.

The Collabor88 event is under new management, and the website also received a makeover. I like the new content, cos they even have the full catalog of each round posted on the site for convenience. June’s theme is “Chill Pill” or 90’s, that wonderful decade full of so many iconic things.
I saw a few things posted on Plurk that were inspired by RL items, so I asked my friends if they thought these things were alright to reproduce in SL. It was the Plastic Combo TV from Vespertine and the Furby, from Fashionably Dead (Toast Bard). What followed was general confusion — some people thought the Furby might be “inspired” so it’s not violating copyright, and the overwhelming majority agreed that taking video cover art was probably not okay.
As a shopper and a blogger, I do want to stay informed about these things. Some really rude people on Plurk assumed that asking was equal to “pitchforking” or forming a “hate campaign” against said creators. It’s not. I just wanted to know for MY own enlightenment, and for current and new creators to learn from this and know what is acceptable and what is copyright infringement.
The creator of Vespertine (Amelie Knelstrom) was notified, so she corrected her mistake by removing ALL of the VHS with movie covers from the package. My picture above represents the “before” — a version that is no longer for sale. The current version only includes the tv, empty boxes of home-made VHS, and a blank but editable VHS cover. Once she apologized for the mistake and corrected it, citing that she was in a rush and under a lot of stress to get the item out asap, people were happy with the outcome. I didn’t see anyone say anything negative about her brand or the item itself. Unfortunately, a lot of people on Plurk like to cause drama and censor other people, going as far as saying that asking such a question about copyright is causing drama. Never be afraid to ask questions, it’s the only way to know for sure.
