I bought a set of tribal face tattoos from Sorry.Asia. Is this brand new, or just new to me? I haven’t ever seen the brand name until this week, so I guess they are new-ish!
I’m piling on the tattoo layers today, so if you’re using an SL client that does not have this capability, you’re really missing out! My favorite teeth tattoo is still the Aegyo Teeth tattoo layer from Mozz, even though I’m constantly buying and trying different brands.
Hucci has just released this goddess-like Waterfall bikini set in a billion colors, so there’s something for everyone. I chose to wear the Ocean color, cos I just love this vibrant blue color, it goes so well with Gold jewelry.
I’d say gacha is back, but let’s be real, it never left. I’ve been in Second Life long enough that the thrill of gachas wore off ages ago, well before they were officially banned. Blind buying duplicates got old fast. At some point, I stopped chasing full sets and rares. I just didn’t care anymore.
I have a lot of friends who are still deep in the gacha game. I’ve been there too, dropping L$3,000 to L$5,000 on a single machine just to complete a set. It happens.
So yeah, I’m a little surprised to see gacha returning in its original form. Miepon had its flaws, sure, but at least you could see what was coming next. Even if it wasn’t the item you wanted, the transparency was better than the old-school roulette wheel. Gacha is a form of shopping torture. You might get what you want, but chances are, you won’t. Designers love it though. In their own words, it made them a lot more money. And that’s what this is really about: profit. Your money going into their pockets.
I’ve always compared gachas to MLMs. Once you buy in, you’re stuck reselling the stuff you don’t want, unless you’re okay taking a loss. That means wasting time listing duplicates at yardsales or on Marketplace. Or, if you’re feeling generous, giving them away to friends like a broke fairy godmother.
Sure, people are excited gacha’s back, but ask yourself why these events are popping up again so fast. One is launching in two weeks. It’s all about the cash flow. Designers cash in, events need regions (which means more money going to Linden Lab), and shoppers? We’re just the endless source of funding.
I’ll still pull the occasional gacha if it’s really good. But most of the time, I’m fine with whatever I get. I don’t chase anymore. I already have too much. And yet, like the little addict I am, I keep getting more, until my inventory overwhelms me and I start deleting things in bulk. Sometimes I wonder if my entire presence in Second Life is just one long donation to the system.
Because in the end, this game, for me at least, is a shopping game.
Hello from Pemberley – my friend’s gorgeous private estate. I found this cheezu outfit in my inventory and felt inspired to do a photo. I played around with the lighting a bit to make my photo pop a little more. It’s hard to get lighting/shadows in the room AND also have a well-lit face. I used a face light to brighten my avatar here, but I would never ever recommend wearing them out.

New face skin! I’m wearing the new Briar skin from Amara Beauty. I haven’t been wearing Amara much since I switched to non-Velour body skin tones. Amara right now only creates skins for Velour tones, which makes it hard to match with whatever body skin I’m wearing. At the moment I’m wearing Session body skins, which only comes in four tones. It wasn’t easy to match, but I think I made it work.
I like this face so much, it’s nearly perfect. I added a few of Izzie’s face tattoo fixes, but other than that the skin looks great right out of the box. If you like a face with defined features and a polished look, this one’s for you.
I’ve also been wanting to blog about the Belle Epoque Reopening Hunt since August, and I finally got around to it now. You have until September 30 to check it out and grab 22 items for L$10 each. I love this dress so much, and I already own it in another color. The hair I’m wearing is a free gift from Wings. If you’re like me, you love a good freebie and mixing it with paid items.
Now that Autumn’s here, I’m so excited to bring out all of my cardigans and sweaters. This beautiful Maple Cradi from Orphic even has a built-in hand pose, which I usually avoid, but here it’s cute and it works. You can find it at this month’s Anthology event.
Have I ever told you about the time I met the guy who plays Jason Voorhees?
I was at a comic convention irl selling artwork about two years ago. After putting my gear up when selling hours ended, I heard there was a special horror movie showing–and I was going to be late for it! So, I ran towards the section of the hotel it would be hosted in.
That’s when I saw a really tall guy looking lost by the stairs. He asked me where the movie would be showing because he was late for it too. I said, “Yep, I’m headed that way!”, so we walked together. I talked about how scary it was to drive around at night and how being lost on a street with no lighting whatsoever was “true horror”.
He just chuckled at me.
We arrived at the auditorium and I took my seat. The man went to the front, where it was announced that he was the actor who played Jason Voorhees. I felt silly but soon we all settled in to watch the film and have fun.
The actor who played Michael Myers was there as well. Someone brought in a bottle of whiskey for him, and “Jason” walked around pouring drinks for those who wanted some. Because the theatre was small, there weren’t that many people there and we had a lot of fun.
And that was how I made corny horror jokes to someone who plays a well-known psycho killer (and then he served me whiskey! lol).

I also wanted to show off this awesome hat from Katatonik (available at Gen-Neutral event) and the gorgeous twisted tree behind me, which you can find at We <3 Roleplay. The tree comes with multiple sits and animations, and is great for placing in your woods. I put mine on my home parcel!
These teeth are also available at Gen-Neutral from EXE.cute. They work with mesh heads pretty well and regular heads too. Just place them where you want on your mouth and you’ll look like you have fangs!
