This Faith Argentina gown from Donna Flora is one of the most stunning gowns I’ve seen in a long time! I use to buy gowns a lot, back when there were only flexi gowns to choose from, but since the introduction of sculpts, and now mesh, I favor casual clothing more. Still, I couldn’t help but really want to wear this dress when I came across it on Donna Flora’s Flickr stream.
The gown, as seen here, is a gorgeous White, Blue & Gold color. I was surprised to see that it is not mesh, but just a sculpted attachment (without flexi). My friend asked me if I could take this gown out dancing, and I think not (it will not move fluidly) but of course, that doesn’t stop anyone on the grid!
Also, if you’re a fan of Donna Flora, there is a 70% off sale of some soon-to-be retired jewelry! Do check it out! Some of my favorite pieces are up on that wall! You won’t be able to purchase them once they’ve been retired.
What I’m Wearing:
Exile – Coy (Stefani)
Donna Flora – Faith Argetina gown
Donna Flora – MAE necklace & earrings
POSEUR – Get Happy (Goodtimez) Pose
Clawtooth – The Seas Met (AutumnMix) | Lovely Liz Pony (Bombshell Blonde)
Clawtooth is a hair store that I avoided for for months and months because I didn’t like the styles or textures when it first launched. Everyone said it was “so awesome” but I thought the sculpted prims were rough at first, and they still had a long way to go before the styles were wearable.
FINALLY, a couple of releases ago, I demo’d and fell in love with two styles. Then I went back for more…
I will be keeping an eye out for new Clawtooth releases now, because I think this brand has improved significantly and it’s actually something that I would wear normally and not just with costumes.
I’m still waiting for a nice Blonde texture but the Reds are superb! A certain little Red headed avatar got me hooked on Clawtooth.
I’m wearing the Laqroki Pearl skin again today. I love this skin but it doesn’t have a dark Red lipstick, so I typically just wear the nude makeups. But today I was still wearing the Lola (LeLutka) lipstick tattoo layer and I noticed that it lined up very well. It looks fabulous together, but I still wish Mallory Cowen would release tattoo lipstick layers for the Laq skins too, cos I like her lip textures.
I don’t really like the SL 2.0 client but I am suffering through it cos I love tattoo make-up layers!
What I’m Wearing:
Laqroki – Pearl 07 [Fair] Glow Skin
Clawtooth – The Seas Met
Clawtooth – Lovely Liz Pony
Whippet & Buck – Frilly Set (Striped Baby Rainbow)
New Freya dress from Teefy for Collabor88! I really appreciate that this dress includes a short and long version. In addition to being flawlessly designed every time, Azure goes above and beyond with options for all tastes!
LeLutka released four new hairstyles and all new texture packs! I’m overwhelmed by how gorgeous the new packs are, and have a hard time deciding between my favorite light blonde pack, Platinum, or the soft and sweet Crayon pack.
What I’m Wearing:
Pink Fuel Skin
LeLutka – Kayla Hair
Teefy – Freya Dress Short (Pure)
Ingenue – Jaclyn Heels (Lilac)
Yummy – Gold & White Pearl Necklace
Teefy – Cake Pops bouquet
cheLLe – HEART nails
Happy New Year! I think the future of Second Life skins is leaning into more textured looks, which adds to realism. I don’t usually love textured skins, but they do look so much more realistic than the smooth, flat skin we’re used to. That shift is really obvious with this new Madeline skin from Glam Affair. It’s very textured and very freckled, and while that isn’t normally my preference, I ended up loving it. I did tone it down a little with a few of Izzie’s tattoo fixes, which helped balance everything out.
That move toward texture feels closely tied to PBR, which is now being added not just to environments but to avatars as well. Because of that, I expect skins to keep changing in 2026, adding more depth in ways that make our avatars look more real and less flat. Even though PBR has some interesting moments, I still think it’s unfortunately a turn off for a lot of current residents. Change is difficult, especially when you’ve been around long enough to remember how things looked before. Maybe newer residents, who don’t have that comparison, will like it more.
All of this ties into the bigger picture of where Second Life is right now. When I decided to close my region at the end of 2024, I had a strong feeling that 2025 was going to be a difficult year in real life, and that it made sense to pull back spending in Second Life. I’m glad I stuck to that decision all year and didn’t bring the region back, even though I wanted to at least a dozen times. I also won’t be bringing it back in 2026 because of the economy, both in Second Life and in real life. There isn’t a lot of growth yet, and it feels like the Lindens are panicking.
I recently watched a snippet of an interview with Brett Linden on MetaRealities’ YouTube channel, and what really stood out to me was how much growth is needed for survival. Needed. Not just for Second Life as a company, but for the creators who make a living here. You can only get so much out of the current residents, which is why attracting new people feels so urgent right now.
So I’m ending one year and starting the next in a much calmer mindset. I rang in the New Year in this cozy Eboshi pajamas set from Aurun at Anthology. Comfort and chill is the vibe I’m going for this holiday season, so I paired them with the Not Tired Bow Slips from The Kiwi Co.
The mystery of the Fishy Strawberry lives on! You guys have such fabulous (and funny) answers, I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the responses. Alas, I had to pick just five winners, so congratulations! I sent the gift card this morning, so be sure to check your inventory! Merry Christmas!
How cute is this new hair from Shag? The Stella Was A Diver hairstyle includes an attached Winter ear muff that’s texture-changing. I really want a messy updo similar to this so it can be worn with big collared coats, too! *hint*
I put together a festive Winter outfit using the FeminineFurTippet Coat from AOHARU (old release) and pairing it with Fudge Brown tights from RezIpsa Loc. The new mesh Charlie Boots from Ju goes perfectly with this look! To complete this look, I accessorized with The Apasionado bag (in Paprika) from LaGyo. This bag reminds me of a Furby, cos you can sort of make out a ‘face’ in the design!
What I’m Wearing:
Shag – Stella Was A Diver (Beach)
undefined lillies – fanciers best necklace (silver/04)
AOHARU – FeminineFurTippet Coat (Red)
RezIpsa Loc – Fudge Brown tights
Ju – Charlie Boots (mesh)
LaGyo – The Apasionado bag (Paprika)
I spent hours today moving my site to its own hosting account, cos I’m so fed up with it crashing whenever iheartsl is overloaded. So, here’s to the rest of 2010 and my site not crashing. YAY!
And also, I am paying a ton of money to host iheartsl and juicybomb, so if you love the blog(s), please consider buying an advertisement.
Pure yum.
Wish I had more purposes to wear such dresses… and that I wouldn’t drown in long skirts, but that’s my problem. 😉
that picture is flawless, gogo. so so pretty!
Awesome picture! Very magical.
That’s a beautiful photo. 🙂
they should use your picture for the ad. you make the dress look ethereal.
