Beautiful shape and skin. Do you think you will ever provide demos for your shapes? I’ve often looked at some of them and been tempted, but I don’t want to change my skin, so I don’t purchase shapes unless I can try them first.
This isn’t a criticism at all, I’m just wondering 🙂
Lovely as always!
May I ask what hair you are wearing, please?
Wasabi Pills, Anais (newest release)
It’s at the zombie popcorn brand event.
Gogo, do you (or have you even done it before?) answer questions regarding DEMOs?
I mean, I’ve always wanted you to provide DEMOs too and I never saw an answer to why you don’t provide DEMOs and/or if you ever will provide DEMOs.
I certainly don’t know how wealthy you are in SL but I do believe you could afford putting out at least a couple of DEMOs of shapes you’ve created. I’m also sure that more people would dare to buy your shapes, or be tempted to buy one.
I have honestly NOT visited your store to buy them since I realized you don’t have any DEMOs, even though I think they look very beautiful and well done.
Wow…you could have just said. “Gee, I wish you had some demos, I’d love to try before I buy…” cause all that stuff sounded so..unfriendly! Just saying…
P.S. Gee, I wish you had some demos Juciy! I’d love to try before I buy!!! -grins-
@ Leah
Well, then you totally misunderstood. It might be that English is not even my “second language”, rather my “fourth” or something. I try to make my point and make it as clear as possible and I’m oh, so sorry if you found me to be rude on Gogo’s behalf.
I also just tried to explain and hoped that we finally would get some response.
But you know what? I think your whole comment is kind of rude too. The use of “Wow” and “Just saying” + the whole “P.s.” part was not nice of you.
you are Just lovely and so refreshing .. 🙂
beautiful photos and description (( as always 🙂
The Anais is stunning on you as well ..
I’m sorry everyone, I do not have demos. I have always been reasonable, if someone absolutely thought I misrepresented the shape somehow, I will refund them. If they do not follow the Style Card, and claims it does not look as nice as the picture, or uses bad WL settings, I do not send a refund.
This isn’t a flame by any means I’m just puzzled by your decision not to offer demos. Why not do what other content creators do and crank the size of the hands and feet up to the proportions of a happy-slapping hobbit and offer demos with no mod rights?
Anyone who has tried on/purchased shapes before will likely be familiar with discovering that the beautiful image was obviously taken on a flattering angle because they’re now standing there looking like something out of a sci-fi flick. The other burning issue is that people may want to check whether your shape will work with their favourite skin, not just the one depicted in your image.
If your concern is that people will use the demo to take head-shots, I wouldn’t let a small percentage dictate a decision that alienates the majority. Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face n’ all that jazz. 🙂
GoGo, I have several of your shapes, and they are by far the ONLY shape I havent had to alter or modify. If I do, it is only because of the skin I use, and the modify is usually in the lips. I dont have to use demos with your shapes, they are lovely. And this comes from an SL fashionista for over 6 years. Keep up the fantastic work!
I don’t think it’s a case of anyone thinking you would deliberately misrepresent the shape, certainly not in my case anyway. But not everyone (myself included) wants to recreate the exact look using the style card, and a lot of people have favourite skins they’d like to try a shape with. The only way that can happen is with a demo. Also some people don’t have a lot of lindens to spend. When you can’t afford to make a purchase mistake, it’s essential to be satisfied that what you’re buying is going to be what you want it to be.
Having said that, I respect your decision not to provide them, their your shapes after all. It’s just a shame that some people who really like the look of your work are put off by the lack of a demo. But no one is forced to buy, so it’s all good 😉
I will consider it, thank you for all of your feedback! I do know that by not providing a demo, it hurts my sales, but it is a decision that I have made (for now).
Hi Gogo,
Love your blog and read it regularly. 🙂
I’m glad this came up because I have always admired your shapes (they look really lovely) but when I visited your place and saw there were no demos, I left without making a purchase. For me, shapes (like skins) are just items I won’t buy without being able to try them on first. Hope you’ll reconsider at some point. 🙂
Eeep! It’s a quasi-gothy Gogo! It’s… weird! lol
Definitely, definitely weird seeing you as a brunette, even weirder seeing you with dark eye make-up! (Not scary weird, just ‘wait that’s not you’ weird) -like it’d be weird to see Lady Gaga in track suit pants and a sweater with no make-up…
No offense, but I don’t understand why its so difficult to provide demos. It doesn’t cost you any money to do so, and it doesn’t take more than 5 minutes to edit the shape (i.e. make the feet and hands larger to distort the body). A photo is not enough. Some people want to be able to see every little detail in-world. The photos do not show the face from all angles, they do not show the body from all angles, they do not show the body straight up (without poses hiding the true shape), etc. It seems suspicious to me that a content creator would not offer a demo for something when it would be so easy for them to do so.
if the skin is modify and you have a picture it shouldn’t be a big deal to not have a demo. people can see what they are getting and if they want to change the height or something they can make a copy and do whatever they want. right?
Hey Gogo,
I don’t think anyone would believe for a second that you would intentionally misrepresent your product, I think that there are those out there that don’t want/have the skin you use for the shape and would like to view it on their favorite skin of choice.
The skin is lovely, PinkFuel does good work! I’m still sticking true to the Pink Fuel Elly skin, I haven’t taken it off since the release and even prerelease with the funky rainbow eyes, haha!
Pink Fuel gets more and more in my taste lol. Beautiful skin, can’t wait for the official release!
Love the shape Gogo, beautiful as always! 🙂
Since she’s the creator it’s her choice whether or not to provide a demo. There can be lots of reasons why a creator doesn’t want to make a demo so why must we insist on something the creator doesn’t want to do? We should respect the creator’s decision. Not everyone will agree but no one can make everyone happy all the time. Anyway, we don’t have to buy it if we don’t want to. If we really like it, then buy it! Or if on a budget, maybe look for a friend who bought it and see how the shape looks from all angles that way before buying.
True to a degree, Lory, but perhaps your thinking of Gogo’s shapes as more ‘artwork’ than ‘product’ ? (not saying they’re pieces of art, lol)
Its a bit like you would probably not let someone take a rembrandt they were considering buying home to see how it looked on their wall, but you *would* let someone try on a pair of jeans before deciding whether the pant leg was long enough, whether the pockets made their bum look big, whether they were too shallow over the crotch so sat below the bum crack line.
I remember … probably 1.5 years ago now Gogo blogged a new skin, and it looked phenomenal on her. And I was just ready to update my skin, so I purchased it, and unfortunately try as I might the skin simply didn’t look ‘right’ with my shape. So I trundled to her store happy to get the matching shape, but unfortunately she hadn’t labelled which shape she wore when reviewing the skin. Comments got no response (no complaint from me, I know Gogo is busy!) and had there been demo’s, I could’ve tested them all out and decided which was the right one.
Gogo, my two cents for what it’s worth: I’ve never bought a shape in my SL 5 years, the one time I was going to do so was the above scenario. It’s not even about the cost, it’s that I don’t want to buy anything I’m not going to use, and as I’m a one-skin-woman, shapes and me must go together like… honey and bee’s, or teal and orange 😀
Another vote in favour of providing demo’s here 😀
>>>It’s not even about the cost, it’s that I don’t want to buy anything I’m not going to use, and as I’m a one-skin-woman, shapes and me must go together like… honey and bees…>>

Exactly my point…I’m willing to experiment with shapes, but I have two favorite skins (one designer) that I inevitably always go back to. The shape has to go with my skin; not the other way around. So demos are crucial for me. However…I do respect your choice as a creator Gogo, and I have a feeling you’re not hurting for sales anyway. 😉
Loving the Alena skin, but don’t hold your breath for a full skin line review…..Alyx was never released 🙁
Looking long and hard for a shape, not finding anything good enough – yet. I tried a box of literally 100 shape demos from another store, not one fit well enough. And I agree with what someone said – I’d want my own skin on the shape, rather than recreate the look from a style card.
A demo would allow me to put my own skin on a juicy shape. FWIW, my $0.02, need demos 🙂 (no offense intended, agreeing or not left to the creator)
Aggghhh it’s gone — I was on vaca. It says that link is bad 🙁
