Isn’t it amazing that the Gala Fundraiser event already raised over 7,500USD? This may be the highest amount of money raised in the shortest time, that I’ve ever seen in my 5 years in SL. Congrats to the One Voice organizers, for such a successful event and I definitely think the 20K goal will be met.

I’m excited to have a new Crochet Sweater from monso! I paired it with the Seaside Sundress from Mon Tissu. I have a soft spot for pastel & peachy colors, and floral patterns!

    I have to show you this sneak peek of SLink's soon to be released Lorelei hair! It is a casual side ponytail and perfect in every way. The sculpts and textures are amazing and includes a texture changing HUD! You just wear the HUD, click on the color you want and the hair re-textures itself. It's pretty damn amazing, and I loooooooooove it.

    Everybody loves poses!! Here's five fun ones I found at the PFFIOU pose shop by Laleeta Xue, and they are only $20L each! I know, a total bargain considering I didn't have to make these myself and they look really cute. I have a bunch of normal 'stands' so it's really refreshing when I see these 'movement' type poses because they come in handy for more expressive photos.

    The fundraiser is over and the tragedy has passed. You’ve collected money and made a fantastic donation. It’s sent off and you feel good for your contribution. You will hopefully help someone who never even plays this game.

    But at home, are you mindful? Do you practice good allyship on the grid?

    Do you listen to those who look like the victims you just raised money for? Or do you tell them their reactions to racism on the grid are too strong? Do you yield the floor for them to express their frustrations, or do you block them and tell your friends to block them too?

    Do you listen to how they feel trapped and don’t have good options for finding places that are welcoming? Have you ever searched for a hangout that has the words “trans” and “genderfluid”, that isn’t an inflation dickgirl fetish sim? Do you know how few places welcome people who are actually nonbinary and don’t view them as a sexual adventure?

    Do you ask yourself what someone feels when they combine the anger and fear of Black Lives Matter with the anger and fear of people on the grid laughing at Caitlin Jenner around you? Have you ever spotted an avatar in a club wearing a penis attachment under a skirt and their profile says they’re a “t-girl”, and it made you, the person who is nonbinary irl, feel like an imposter?

    Do you know what trans racism is? Did you know it exists on the grid too?

    The grid is not an escape for some of us. It’s a place where we can figure out who we are both as people of color and as members of the queer and nonbinary community. We can figure out what style is best for our desired appearance. We can come to understand how we wish to present. We don’t run from real world problems and when we see them here, we call them out.

    Not to make waves, not to make people upset, but because if we don’t, we will suffer a shrinking space where we feel welcome and free to be ourselves–our true selves, where we know we can go to a place where the folks there will accept us for everything. Not part of us, not make slight slurs about race or gender or queerness when you think we aren’t listening, but 100 percent of our being. If we aren’t allowed to do so, then the grid is no good to us at all. The grid becomes a place that is welcoming to straight white people only.

    And I cannot abide in a place like that. I won’t make paintings to hang in rl galleries of a grid that doesn’t value me as a person. I just won’t.

    Practice mindfulness. Wherever you raise money, ask yourself on the grid if there’s someone suffering in a similar way. Ask if you’ve crossed paths with them before. Then ask how you can behave differently next time.

    SLink has just released two new hairstyles!! The Miranda and Marmalade hairstyles are both adorned with Hibiscus flower(s) giving them a nice tropical look. All SLink hairstyles are now modifiable, yay!

    I left my platform and went to Alicia’s birthday party. In case you didn’t know, all the OG bloggers know each other. We go way back, decades really. If you cross one of us, you cross all of us… just kidding! It’s not like that, but we do keep in touch.

    For a long time, most of my Second Life friends were either bloggers or creators, but I’ve since expanded my circle to include people I’ve met around Bellisseria.

    I’m always open to meeting new people and making new friends. I accept random friend requests. If someone’s bold enough to send one, I figure I should say yes. I sometimes send random friend requests too, to people I’ve known forever on social media, though we often never end up talking or seeing each other in Second Life. I’ve always been notoriously bad at showing up in Second Life. Crowds and teleports used to make me anxious, but I’m slowly getting better at it.

    Since I’m not shopping this month, I have lots of free time and I’m finally ready to accept teleports.

  • Xeniversity Grand Opening

    Xeniversity is having a grand opening tomorrow and you're all invited! I had the pleasure of checking out the sim today and it is so different from other furniture/prefab shops. The 'build' consists of a platform made up of cubes with platforms on different levels for you to shop in an open, unconfined space. There's already furniture and a prefab there, with promises of more to come soon.

    I had the pleasure of seeing the Canal St. Loft prefab skybox up-close and I am so impressed with the textures and built-in features. Here is the official graphic with some pictures and all the specs listed:

    Here are some pictures I snapped in-world, totally un-retouched so you can see that the skybox will look exactly like it does in the vendor ad. All the shadows are baked onto he textures so it really does look like this once you rez it!

    For a box that is 22x22x12meters, it sure looks big! Here's a picture of me inside the loft skybox. There's plenty of room inside for furniture, or a studio or whatever you want to use it for. The open space is very versatile.

    Well, you know I can't do a blog post without a picture of me somewhere… 😀 I think this skybox is great for photographs.

    Here's a little tip for you guys reading this, if you can't wait to see the Canal St. Loft up-close; it is set for sale right now, even though the sim has not officially opened yet! Tp to Xeniversity.

    Greetings from Xen!

    I am proud to annouce the Grand Opening of my new store XEN STYLE! My company's main focus is to produce the absolute highest quality in sculpted objects, skyboxes, prefabs, and furniture seen on the grid today. By utilizing dynamic lighting to bake and texture all of our products we are able to achieve some of the most dramatic spacial designs and concepts that have yet been attempted.

    Looking forward to going to the fundraiser. Eventually, maybe I’ll get in. (I figured it was a good sign that it kept being full! ^_^)
