Are gridlines GONE???? I was a lil’ bit skeptical when I downloaded the Second Life Viewer Beta 3.4.3 to try it out this morning, but overjoyed when I discovered that the Lindens have managed to fix this bug that have plagued photographers for so long. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are still some glitches, but I’m able to take snapshots larger than my screen size without any grid lines. Although for my blog photos, I usually snap at screen size anyway, it definitely feels like an indulgence to be able to do HUGE images!
I also downloaded the new Starlight skin that comes with a vertical display window for Windlight settings.
I’m taking the new SL client out for a spin at World’s End Garden, what a charming place.
I wanted to do a Winter look today, but ended up looking like Santa’s lil’ elf helper. I’m wearing the Fair Isle Mukluks in Smoke from BOOM, even though I really wanted to wear the light Pink ones. This Agathe top and Sonia Skirt from Ingenue didn’t come in light Pink or White, or any colors that matched the boots that I wanted to wear.
I am test driving the new interface & new layers!! After how many years of griping about not having an extra tattoo layers to wear over our skin/clothes, Linden Lab has finally created one. There’s also an ALPHA layer!! Oh, and my dear little fashionista heart is so happy there’s a WEARING tab that lists everything I’m wearing. This will making doing outfit credits SO much easier! I LOVE YOU LINDEN LAB.
This viewer will take some time to get used to, but it’s better to start getting used to it now, before they roll out the official version. I like what I’m seeing so far! <3
I made a ‘viva la juicy’ tattoo to test out the layer. It works awesome!! If only I could make better tattoos, lol!
In addition to tattoos, creative residents can also try adding stuff to their skins like beauty marks, extra makeup, etc. I think this will be AMAZING, I can’t wait to see what designers come up with!
It was tough to select just a few of my favorite hairstyles from this year’s Hair Fair! I left a few out of my collage, cos my computer was having driver issues and I couldn’t snap them all without crashing constantly. Okay, so my usual favs… Wasabi Pills, Exile, LeLutka, and some new favs, Ohmai and Miamai! 🙂
I also picked up two adorable bandanas from LeLutka and Ohmai, they were $50L each, and the proceeds are donated to Wigs for Kids.
Want some more Hair Fair coverage? My friend Melanie has a great Hair Fair on a Budget! post over at her blog, XOXO Mela. Give her a big welcome cos I miss her face soooo much, and I’m so happy she went to HF with me.
Do you know about Void lashes? I’ve seen this brand gain popularity and support from various creators, so I decided to find out what it’s all about. I absolutely love the default LeLutka lashes that are attached to the mesh head, so I never felt the need for a third-party add-on. However, I woke up yesterday and decided to delve into Void lashes.
Void is created by a resident named Pure Void. Their marketplace store showcases a selection of lashes that are rigged for various popular mesh heads. I decided to get a demo of the popular Void Demure Lashes, and to do so, I had to teleport to the store. To access the store in-world, you must accept the land experience. At first, I was annoyed by this, but once I visited the store and experienced the region design and animation sequence, I was thoroughly impressed. It adds so much to the shopping experience, making you feel as though you’re stepping into the introduction of an anime movie.
I chose the Void Demure lashes because I wanted to wear them with Mila’s Obscura Eyelashes. This motivated me to learn more about Void lashes, because I love all of Mila’s lashes and wanted to wear these as well. Although the Void lashes are pricey at L$1,499, they come with a customization HUD and are rigged for numerous mesh heads. Upon opening the EvoX package, I found a version for each of LeLutka’s heads, including the latest, Camila. This indicates that Void continually provides updates, making it a worthwhile investment.
The lashes allow you to wear the top, mid, and bottom lashes or turn them off entirely. I have only seen people wear these lashes with all three options, and they often appeared somewhat droopy and busy to me. I was very glad to discover that I could turn off the mid lashes! Additionally, there’s a HUD for customizing the gems and toggling the alpha settings between blend and mask. I highly recommend using blend mode because when you set it to alpha mask mode, it can look like chunky spider legs on your face. While some may appreciate that aesthetic, it simply does not resonate with me.
Blend vs Alpha Mask mode
Overall, I believe the reason that residents are choosing to wear Void lashes is that they offer a different look compared to the lashes included with their head of choice. They can also be longer, more intense, and come in various shapes. Personally, I felt that the Void lashes gave my eyes a hint of droopiness, yet they also appear quite dramatic.
If you’re looking for something different, check out Void lashes! Even if you’re not, the store is worth a visit; it provides the best land experience I have encountered in Second Life.
mon tissu is a collaboration between Emma Gilmour (Surf Co) & Juliette Westerburg (Tres Blah), but you’ll know them as Elie Spot and Anouk Spot under this new brand.
I had the pleasure of visiting the new Lula sim a few days ago, and it is very beautiful, exactly like you would expect from a sim with a pretty name. I loved the small French village feel with colorful buildings surrounded by the lush Green countryside.
Here are some basic pieces you’ll find from mon tissu; they can be mixed-and-match easily and they’re incredibly girlie and casual. I predict that I’ll wear these jeans often, as they go with everything and there’s plenty of frilly tops to choose from at mon tissu.
For fellow Shadows lover, the new Second Life 2.2 Beta Viewer has flawless shadows!! I am wearing just regular texture eyes in the picture above; prim eyes are no longer necessary! I guess LL does listen to feedback, because fixing this issue is HUGE! I could kiss them!
You can download the latest SL 2.2 Beta Viewer here.
If you don’t like the official viewer, Kirstens Viewer also does shadows perfectly, perhaps even better than SL until this latest beta viewer. I’m a big fan of Kirstens and have used it for the past few months but I always prefer to use the official SL client whenever I can.
Check out both! 🙂
How to Enable Shadows in the SL 2.2 Beta Viewer:
Press Ctrl+Alt+D to bring up the Advanced Menu
then Press Ctrl+Alt+Q to bring up the Develop Menu
Go to Develop -> Rendering -> check Framebuffer Objects
then check Light and Shadows -> Shadows from Sun/Moon/Projectors -> and SSAO and Shadow Smoothing
With the Kirstens Viewer, it’s much easier to enable shadows, just go to Preferences -> Graphics.
Elate created this elegant Elenia Swansong Gown in Sky, Cream, and Sunny. Each dress includes 3 different size skirts and 2 lengths for Tall or Petite girls. The Elenia AO is included that works beautifully with this gown. The 5 standing poses included with this AO does not have head movement (I think because it was uploaded with high priority instead of low priority), so it's not something I could use every day but works great for photos.

I try to match, not always by color but by whatever feels right. Now you have me paranoid, that my shoes never look right 😀
If I wear a light colored outfit (like white, or light pink), pretty much any shoes color goes, but when it’s darker, a lighter shoe color just doesn’t work (esp these boots).
No paranoia needed, you always look amazing! My thoughts were actually from you, yourself. I can’t remember the post- but since I have been following you for years there is no way I am going to go look, lol. Anyway, there was a post where you started out by saying something like – look my shoes match or something like that. Then talking about your love of mixing it up.
do you have a slurl for Chemistry Hair? search isnt finding it, and i so want that hair

Hi, Juliet. Here’s the landmark to Chemistry. It’s a cute, quaint store 🙂

When I read this, what went through my mind was- since when does Gogo match her shoes! I think pink boots would have been cute too and very you. =)

Thank you so much for the great news about the lines being fixed!
