Morphis Theme, Themeforest

JuicyBomb gets a makeover! After years of using the Thesis theme, I really needed a change. I love Thesis 1.8.5 but the new Thesis 2.0 update is really difficult to use and not intuitive at all. I’ll go back to Thesis when Thesis 2.0 has proper documentation, and some pretty skins.

Anyway, I am using the Morphis theme from Themeforest. I have never bought a Themeforest theme before, but I’m pretty happy with my first purchase! If you guys want some inexpensive but pretty new themes, check it out. They take PayPal 🙂

I’m still getting used to this new theme, and still trying to customize some settings. If anything looks off, let me know!

Do you like the new theme? Is it easy to navigate? Is the font size big enough?

I like it, but the font size could do with being a tiiiiiny bit bigger, or maybe I just need glasses, haha!

Ok! I will see what I can do! 🙂

Gogo I don’t! The date is HUGE and squishes the text and photos smaller, I could ctrl + but then I’d need to ctrl – every other page afterwards and who can be bothered! … frankly I don’t care when a post was made, I only care about the content 😀
Also it’s more trickly to leave a comment (I don’t know if that’s by intent, to discourage people, heh).
It annoys me to have to log into a certain thing to leave a comment anywhere! 🙁

If you click through the title link/comments link, it will go to the full page. This is suppose to be a style thing, but I can make it full column width if everyone hates it! 😀

On a 24” screen, the font is actually quite big. Not sure about any mobile devices, although the size of all the social media buttons and links seem to suggest that they were made for touch-screens.
My first impression is that the theme doesn’t really compliment your images, because it “narrows” them too much, while literally half the screen remains unused and blank. To me, the theme seems as if it was rather meant for magazine-style, long narrative blogs, not such where photoshots are a prominent feature.

Hope you’ll find enough settings to make it yours and to fully compliment your style. 🙂

The font is 12-14px, cos I like them readable too. I don’t know wny everyone else is saying it’s too small, lol.

Ok guys! I’ve made the main column bigger, losing those cute date circles, aw! Does this work better now? And you don’t have to log in to comments. If the comments link is too small, I’ll fix that, I just haven’t found where the CSS yet 😀

I also wanted to ask if you knew what was up with iheartsl.com as I’ve not seen it update in days.

      • Gogo

It looks updated to me, but I’ll check it out.

It’s plausible that it’s just a caching issue on my side, but I have never experienced any issues before… No other websites have done it. It paused on :

If anyone has suggestions, my deepest appreciation into fixing this.

I appreciate the Scandinavian-style minimalism to which you aspire, but I would suggest a bit of colour at the top of the page in your banner. Seeing “JuicyBomb” written in grey letters doesn’t seem appropriate for a fashion blog.

This theme is confusing in that it has the number of comments at the top of each post, but I’m sure people will adapt to that.

I agree with the comment locator – it really threw me off for awhile.

I also agree with a bit of colour would be good! Maybe some soft pastel pink accents?

      • Gogo

Ok! I just got the theme, so I’ll make a new banner soon.

Looks good to me right now. I’m not sure how it looked earlier.

I love Thesis 2.0 – its what I’m using for my blog right now. I pretty much only edited the CSS to make my layout. Your new theme looks good though! I was shocked to see the change when I visited. I can’t wait to see the new banner you come up with. Lemme know if you want some pointers on Thesis 2.0 🙂

    • Gogo

Yesssss!!!! Ill find you in SL so you can help me! I just want it to look like my old site, but I can’t figure out each template and my header. But seriously, thesis 2.0 is not as easy as thesis 1.8

I think it looks great – and the text is perfect. But I miss your pink JuicyBomb banners!

  9. Thalia

The layout is cute and refreshing.
What I don’t like is the lack of photos when using the search option. The old layout would display the photos but not with this one. If I am looking for a specific item from a past post I have to click on every link that comes up in search to view the photos because even the brief summary of pasts posts is gone.

    I liked the circles!

Hate to be the black fly in your Chardonnay, but I can’t see even the grey “Juicy Bomb” banner now…I know I said I liked minimalism but this is a bit too Zen even for me 🙂

If you are ever looking to change WordPress themes again:

    http://chrislema.com/comparing-drag-drop-wordpress-themes/

The evaluator really seemed to like Ultimatum, which allows you to drag and drop to create as many different themes as you want (so you could customize all the features you desire, I suppose):

Drag and Drop is the criteria, because then everything is easily changed. Elegant Themes will sell you a theme for as low as $29.
