I’m so picky about jeans in SL! I’ve worn some before but they had certain things that I didn’t like, such as the infamous “pony rider” thigh gap, or shows too much butt crack.
What I want from a pair of jeans is a nice butt shape! I’m also picky about the texture quality, shape of the jeans overall, and cuff lengths. I like skinny cuffs and pants that end at the ankle, cos they’re more versatile for shoes in SL and they look sleek!
Unhappy with the current state of SL mesh jeans, I’ve mentioned to several designers that I wanted jeans (from their brand) in SL. Monso surprised me with the My First Jeans release, and it is just perfect in every way. Each pair even includes two stitching types (light and dark).
Try these jeans and let me know if you love them! Visit Monso.
What I’m Wearing:
Pink Fuel – Sora (Peach)
Truth – Kasia (Swedish)
Teefy – Mini Corset (Light Floral) S
G-Field – Ribbon (Single) Headband Pearl
Monso – My First Jeans (Deep Blue 1) Size2/S
G-Field – Strap Shoes “Alex)
Donna Flora – LIA Ring
SLink – Mesh Hands (av)
I’m willing to bet that a lot of people haven’t heard of Canimal. This brand was one of my favorites in SL way way back in uh.. 2007-2008. I never did like the skins but I loved the casual clothes and some accessories. I haven’t worn my Canimal items in a long time, so when I read that Canimal is closing, I wondered what took so long? Nothing new was released for over one and a half years, so it didn’t come as a surprise.
I wonder if Canimal Zephyr will relaunch under a new brand or is this truly goodbye?
My prediction is that in 2011, we will see lots of “oldbie” designers re-branding or launching new brands to stay fresh.
I’m posting a picture of a few of my favorite Canimal items from back in the day. These things are considered so-so now, the seams are more noticeable than before. I was pretty newb then so I didn’t know to look for seams, and they didn’t really matter that much then. Designers in SL have improved so much and we pretty much expect items to be seamless or pretty darn close.
Visit Canimal if you want a last look before it’s gone 🙂
This sweet lolita look is inspired by the latest Duchess gown from BlueBlood. I’m wearing the GossipGirl hairstyle from Exile because the big blonde curls are so sweet and goes perfectly with this dress & Lady Rose shoes (with matching hair rose) from G-Field.
The Duchess dress includes the shirt, under shirt, collar, underpants, skirt lolita, skirt gown, gloves and socks.
What I’m Wearing:
Gala Phoenix – Petal [Dark] Elf-Happy Holidays
Exile – GossipGirl (Harlow)
BlueBlood – Duchess WhiteGoth Pink
G-Field – Lady Rose Shoes & Hairpin (pink)
Happy Saturday! The Tara Jumpsuit from The Secret Store is an instant favorite of mine. I love long pants, and there’s not enough of it in SL. Even if it’s a jumpsuit, it’s still long pants! This jumpsuit is available in a variety of colors and patterns.
What I’m Wearing:
Truth Hair – AveryElena
Izzie’s – Miami Neon Glasses (White, rainbow lenses)
The Secret Store – Tara Jumpsuit (Stripes)
Ingenue – April Flats (Pearl)
I was so excited to go to the Gaeta 1 / Zindra Town Hall, and I ended up leaving that meeting feeling disappointed.
First of all, I didn’t want to say this, but I will. The Town Hall could have been planned so much better. Dear Lindens, please make a question submission form, collect questions throughout the week, then choose the most informative ones to answer live. Letting everyone ask questions in local chat was complete chaos, and a lot of people couldn’t stay on topic. I was also surprised it was entirely handled through chat. You know that meme that says, this could have been an email? Yeah. That.
This meeting could have been genuinely informative if they had come in with a clear list of answers, explained exactly what residents need to know, then saved the last 15 minutes for open Q&A. Why that didn’t happen is anybody’s guess. Sometimes these meetings feel like Linden employees struggle with creating an agenda and sticking to it.
I was also disappointed to learn that residents who bought in on April 15 or after the expansion blog post went live seem to be treated like second class citizens. The relocation process should not prioritize only the biggest landowners or the people who have held land there the longest.
If I were managing this move, I would contact every current landowner, I think they said there were around 349, and ask two simple questions:
Do you want to move to New Zindra?
Can you move now?
If the answer is yes to both, put those residents at the top of the migration list and start moving them immediately. The people with more complex requests, unusual parcel needs, or plans to relocate elsewhere can be handled afterward.
Residents who are ready now should be first in line. Tier doesn’t stop while people sit in limbo, and it would be nice if Linden Lab remembered that.
I hope this whole thing wraps up within weeks. If the new continent is ready to go, I’m ready to move too.
And now onto what I’m wearing, because even when it isn’t a fashion post, it somehow becomes one.
Another round of Anthology just opened, and this shimmery dress is the Artemis Dress by Madame Noir. This dress is an example of when PBR is done so well it creates reflections and highlights correctly. With this outfit, I needed to find a place to serve as the backdrop for my photo. I opened the Destinations menu in-world looking for a music venue, and somehow ended up outside an 80s movie theater. I love The Breakfast Club, so naturally I had to take the picture in front of the poster.
Can you tell what kind of mesh head I’m wearing? It’s kind of borderline, isn’t it? If you see me walking around a sim, you might think I’m just very good at shape-making at first glance. But if you see my profile…ah! I’m wearing a mesh head after all. No flat Second Life face, no weird nose, a fully developed mouth instead of two weird-looking bumps.
Collabor88 is a popular monthly themed event with great designers, and the support of many bloggers in Second Life. When this event was formed, Drinkinstein Sorbet (designer and event creator) asked me personally to be part of the official press/blogging team. I accepted and covered it often on my blog. After over a year of dedicated blogging, aka giving my time and blog space to promoting this event, I was tossed out of the group by one of the managers without a word. I didn’t bother asking Drinkinstein about this, but I felt that it was a poor way to treat someone who helped promote your event since its inception. Once I got over the shock (this happened in December of 2012), I began covering Collabor88 again, on my own, not as part of the press team.
However, this blog post is not about me, it is about my friend and fellow blogger, Willow Zander. You may know Willow from her 7+ years of dedicated SL fashion coverage on her blog and various other group blogs. Like myself, Willow was invited to be part of the press team for Collabor88, and covered it every month without fail. In February, Drinkinstein banned her from the Collabor88 sim, and kicked her out of the group without a legitimate reason. Is this any way to treat your official bloggers?
Willow is too nice to mention any of this on her own blog, and continues to give Collabor88 coverage for designers who sends her review copies. I feel that since she’s not a griefer, copybotter, or has done ANYTHING that would earn a sim ban, she should be unbanned immediately. I wish the designers who enjoys her blogging, and benefits from her blogging, would speak to Drinkinstein on her behalf.
Do you think Willow should be unbanned from the Collabor88 sim? Should she still blog it, even though she is banned?
I tried them on and did not find a fit for me personally. They waist was way too big for me. The bottom is cute though, but the overall fit was not good on me personally. My favorite jeans with your criteria, Gogo, are the skinny jeans from HOC Industries. They are gorgeous, low cost, 100% original mesh, come with a HUD to color change so you get lots of colors for half the price of the monso ones. Have you tried the HOC skinny jeans?
I had high hopes for these jeans, but I couldn’t fit into any of the sizes. Size 1 was too small, and size 2 was too big and I am not one to change my shape to fit into mesh clothes. I have no problem fitting into XS of standard sizes, so the problem isn’t me. Maitreya jeans have the most realistic shape, in my opinion. The Mon Tissu Nora jeans also look very realistic. The slope of the inner thighs and the overall shape look like real life human legs. My only problem with them is that the thighs are a bit too skinny, but I can deal with that since my avatar is quite thin to begin with.
Look good! I’ve mostly given mesh jeans a miss so far but will be trying these out, I love the neon!
Oh these are terrific, I reckon they’ll be staying on me awhile, lol.
I like these, but I think Maitreya’s mesh jeans have the perfect butt 🙂
