Is now a good time to cash out your Lindens? Yes, now is the best time to cash out your Lindens. Since Second Life introduced Premium Plus (with no stipend) back in October, I’ve been keeping an eye on the exchange rate, and recently I saw L$245/USD, which is the best rate I’ve seen in years. That was my cue to finally do something about the amount of Lindens I was sitting on. I’m not a big creator, but between stipends, buying and selling land, and income from my shop, I had built up a pretty large balance. At the end of 2025, I decided to cash out some of my stash, just L$250,000 Lindens, which is about $961 USD, to test the process.
I also wanted to see if the cash out process had improved now that Tilia is owned by Thunes. At first, I tried withdrawing through PayPal and it stalled for days. I switched my payout method to Direct Bank Deposit and the money arrived in under two business days. As you can see, Second Life charged me $48.28 in fees and completed the payout within two business days (this was done over the Christmas holiday, so it stretched to about five days total). That’s impressive, but it also made me realize how ripe this system could be for fraud. Faster payouts, sometimes within hours, mean that if someone gains access to your account, real damage can happen before you even notice.
One thing I find interesting is that you would think with the exchange rate being more favorable, creators would start lowering their prices. But that hasn’t really happened. If anything, prices are staying inflated, and I understand why. Real life cost of living has gone up, and many creators rely on Second Life income to get by. It just means that as residents, we’re still paying more even when our Lindens technically stretch further.
If you’re thinking of cashing out, do it! If you have lots of Lindens in your account or a payment method with significant funds attached to it, consider enabling two factor authentication immediately.

Zooby’s Babies has just released the Zooby Ultimate Baby Chris 1.0, their first Second Life baby and it is fantastic. Zooby’s Babies claims to have the ‘best SL babies’ and I definitely agree with this statement, because while I have never owned a baby before, I immediately wanted to get a hold of this one, and see for myself whether or not the Zooby baby is worth the $5,000L price tag.
Zooby is known for having quality realistic pets, so this venture in to baby making was definitely a surprise but not unexpected. There is definitely a market for babies, evident by the amount of baby products on the grid. While I don’t play Second Life family, I totally get the appeal. Having a baby would complete the ‘family’ for some couples, and this baby is as interactive as they get with just prims and textures.

When you click on the baby, a drop-down menu allows you to choose clothing, accessories, gestures, AO, eyes color, name, sounds, etc.
I like the thoughtfulness of the gestures that Carrie Tatsu has built into this baby. The AO is gentle and includes versions for both Male and Female. You can Hold, hold with your baby bottle-feeding, and breastfeed (use with the breastfeeding bra). I also like the gentle ‘kiss’ that’s built into the Female AO, so your baby and your avatar can interact a little bit.
The baby has two fun gestures to choose from: Peekaboo and Blow Kiss! Both are soo adorable and irresistable.
This baby is brilliant, it recognizes toys! 🙂 When I rezzed the baby along with the teddy bear and the toy piano, it ‘plays’ with the toys in its crib. You can rez these items on anywhere, but the crib was a cute place. The crib has poses built into it to allow your baby to play, stand, sit, and sleep.
[ Zooby Ultimate Baby Chris 1.0 – Playing with toys ]I like that the clothing options allows for the baby to be either a boy or a girl, and since these are copiable you can have a set of twins or triplets if you wanted that many babies at once.
When rezzed in-world, the baby can follow you or anybody you choose by crawling around, sitting, and playing.
This baby does a lot! Visit the Zooby’s Babies shop to see for yourself; the babies are rezzed there in all different clothing options and ao positions. For this blog entry, I am also using the Zooby Baby Girl Entire Room1, which has decor and furnishings that can interact with your Zooby baby and the quality and textures are fantastic.
Even people who don’t role play families and babies in Second Life can appreciate the skill and thoughtfulness that went into making the Zooby baby. I really think that we’re bound to see even more impressive things from the Zooby’s brand.

Downton
My look today is based on my current tv show obsession: Downton Abbey! I love their clothes and hairstyles, but it’s very hard to find something new in SL (in mesh) that fits the time period. I didn’t feel like wearing a long mesh skirt (hate them), so I wore the Secretary Skirt from Leverocci. It’s too short and tight for “Downton” but that’s okay, this look is inspired by, not an exact replica! 🙂

The new Aphrodite Dress from Teefy is perfection! I say this all the time, but I love everything from Teefy! The clothes are always so sweet, slightly sexy, and extremely well made.
