I’ve been soooo busy, but I paused to bring you some gorgeous shoe news! Shoetopia is coming! SLink will introduce the Female High Feet there, this is very exciting news for shoe lovers, and shoe makers! I can’t wait to see some third-party brands release ultra sexy high heels. I tried out Firestorm Zero so you don’t have to! Unfortunately, you can’t anyway, because Linden Lab sold streaming hours for only half a day before pulling the plug on it. So now they’re just not available. If you purchased some hours, you can still use those, but who knows when they will be back for sale. I reluctantly bought some hours just in case I wanted the option available in the future, and I wanted to try it out and compare it to Second Life Zero.
For those who may not know, Zero is the web browser version to access Second Life. The free version can be accessed through zero.secondlife.com, while the paid version can be found at zero.secondlife.com/fs (a lite version of the Firestorm viewer). I noticed right away that some of the latest Firestorm features were missing, but it is an acceptable version if you need to log in and explore.
I burned 30 minutes of my 20 streaming hours to make this video! I logged in with the goal of taking a photo, adjusting EEP settings, and experimenting with camera smoothing for video purposes. However, I struggled to turn off the UI, as the browser viewer did not respond to the keyboard shortcuts.Update! I found out how to turn off the UI. You can go through the menu and turn it off, or press Alt+Shift+U on your keyboard. But after I turned it off, I could not turn it back on, so I logged off.
Since we cannot save photos to a local drive on the browser viewer, I attempted to email a photo to myself. At high resolutions, it did not work. Finally, I selected the 1024 size photo, and it indicated that it was successful, but I did not receive the photo in my email. The browser experience also seemed quite pixelated to me, which gave me a headache towards the end.
Overall, Zero (and ZeroFS) is acceptable, but logging onto both versions remains a struggle. Linden Lab needs to address these issues if they are serious about offering browser streaming as a way to access Second Life.
Have you tried accessing Second Life through the browser? Let me know your thoughts!
I went to Isle of View today about 30 minutes before the event ended, but it looked like most of the Lindens and Moles had already left. I didn’t get my yearly photo with Izzy Linden even though he was there, because he poofed shortly after. Still, I did get some more Galentine’s Day photos with Sparkle and Fay, so it wasn’t a total loss. If you want to hug or dunk a Linden, go tomorrow on Valentine’s Day. They’re doing it again from 1 to 3 PM SLT.
After we took our photos, Fay told me to click the Speed Dating sign at Isle of View. This was new to me and I haven’t seen it before. At the Speed Dating area, you sit on the chairs and within a few seconds they start rotating you around the venue to a different table. It’s actually kind of clever, but I’m pretty sure I went too late because barely anyone was there.
Except for this guy.
Side note, yes, I edited these photos with AI (ChatGPT). I know they look more realistic, but I still think they’re true to our avatars. It’s just a realistic glow up.
Tired of looking at the same old clouds? Check out these gorgeous new clouds, first available in the Firestorm viewer over three weeks ago. I don’t use a Third Party Viewer, so I didn’t get a chance to play with them, until Ziki showed me how to get these gorgeous clouds in the official Second Life Viewer too!
If you want these files in the official Second Life viewer, just download the clouds2.tga file, and replace the existing clouds2.tga file in your Second Life folder on your computer. Read Vincent’s tutorial to get the download links for the .tga files.
Find Clouds2.tga in your Second Life folder at (or elsewhere, it depends on your computer):
After you replace the clouds2.tga file, relog. You’ll have to do this each time you want to play with a different cloud type, at least until the official viewer includes a drop-down menu for multiple cloud options.
I use the Starlight Skin by Hitomi Tiponi with my sl viewer, so maybe he can add a drop-down menu! *crosses fingers*

I have often wondered, is there a list of skin makers who make the adjustments for the Slink feet? I am surprised that there isn’t such a list on their blog or in their store….
As much as I LOVE Tee*fy…I gotta admit…I HATE THAT SKIRT! lol It just isn’t flattering in my opinion. BUT…those boots. Oh my goodness girl…MAMAMIA MEEEEE-OW! Goin’ to get me a pair right now. 😀

On Sid’s blog she does have this list of available appliers and then also how to match your skin if you can’t find an applier. http://slinkstyle.com/appliers_non-applier-matches/ And this is a list of different ad ons such as nails and shoes and such. http://slinkstyle.com/the-slink-avatar-enhancement-system-customer-information/
