Can’t get into full sims? Buy the LetMeIn HUD from Cheshiresoft! After days of trying to teleport to this event and not being able to enter, the HUD saved me from days of frustration and got me to the sim within 3 minutes, or less. Best $150L ever spent.

What’s with my gladiator obsession lately? I’m a gladiator today, or shall we say, gladiagirl?

Avatar Physics!

The latest Second Life Development Viewer has avatar physics enabled!! Hamlet blogged about it on NWN, and there’s even a video tutorial if you guys want to check it out.

I had so much fun playing with the new avatar physics, I even made a lil’ video and threw it on YouTube. I haven’t done that in almost two years, so my video didn’t turn out quite as nice as I had hoped, but I hope you guys can see clearly how natural and amazing and FUN this will be for SL residents. Even if you don’t want extreme bounce, this new physics layer have sliders for you to control as much or as little bounce as you want.

If you want a copy of my physics layer, it is available for FREE on Marketplace or at my shop in SL.

You can follow the tutorial on NWN to create your own physics layer, or grab a copy of mine and just wear. Be sure to use the latest SL Dev Viewer, or a compatible Third Party Viewer (TPV).

Second Life’s Knowledge Base also has a step-by-step tutorial on Enhanced Avatar Physics that includes pictures!

UPDATE April 14th, 2011: If you purchased my Juicy Physics package before 9PMSLT today, there is an error in the Breasts Bounce: Max Effect setting. It should *not* be set to 0! For a lil bounce, set it to 25 and for max bounce, set it to 65 or higher.

I just replaced it with an updated package on Marketplace.

Also, Second Life has added Avatar Physics to the latest Second Life Beta Viewer (Second Life 2.6.3 (225685)) too! It is no longer limited to just the Development viewer.

note: For some reason, SL has been resetting the Breast Bounce > Max Effect setting! For a lil bounce, set it to 25 and for max bounce, set it to 65 or higher.

Mayfly Eyes, Liquid Light

Back when mesh eyes were new to the grid, I blogged the Mayfly (Deep Sky Eyes) mesh eyes, and they still remain one of my favorite mesh eyes. The textures from Mayfly are so realistic and the eyes comes with four different Whites choices, is scripted to re-size and also includes the texture eyes, if some days you want to wear those instead of mesh!

These new Liquid Light series eyes from Mayfly have a slightly larger pupil and softer reflections than the previous Deep Sky Eyes series. I just love the new reflections, they look even more realistic than before.

If you like these, visit Mayfly to try a demo and check out all the other colors (there are tons more!).

I also wanted to quickly mention that this new hair I’m wearing is Clawtooth’s first mesh hair! While the Blonde texture is not that great, I think the style is so adorable. I definitely will keep my eye on Clawtooth hair, especially cos this mesh hair fits so well.

What I’m Wearing:

Clawtooth – Glamazon (Salty)
Celoe – Jet Sweater (Blue/Madison)

According to some people, I’m an “online crossdresser”, most likely because they don’t understand how Second Life works for those who are nonbinary (meaning, a gender identity which doesn’t fit with just “male” or “female”). If you want to understand a bit more, listen in on my story and see how this might stack up against your original opinion of nonbinary users in SL.

Back in 2003, I didn’t know what being genderfluid was. I do, however, remember making a beeline for the men’s section in a department store and buying slacks and oversized shirts to hide my figure. I had no idea why I was doing this. I was just doing it. Before I had a name for what I was, I did it and was happy, not caring about the weird looks other people in the store were giving me.

About ten years later, I began “masking” (as my people call it) for performance art and to play with gender again. I liked the way I felt when people said, “I can’t tell if you’re a man or a woman”. It made me feel powerful, like I had defied something and become a completely new person entirely. I took it and ran with it–it was my life, my rules, but those were not the things I practiced in SL yet. When a newspaper asked me to talk about my work, I talked about shifting genders when masking. I was proud of who I had become and you can find that article to this day. Read More “Double Love”

Charity in SL

There are so many charity events in SL, and the number of events increase yearly. I have a question for event organizers, designers, and shoppers. Do you feel that a donation receipt (proof of donation) should be posted after the charity event has ended?

I think that some proof of donation should be posted, cos it’s more reassuring to see that proof that the money has been properly donated.

Although designers are the ones doing the donating, and we as shopper are merely exchanging Lindens for their goodies, I think that a charity event motivates lots of us to buy something we may not normally buy. In my mind, when I shop at a charity event I am “donating” too.

What do you think?

Do you know what a 21 year old looks like? Sometimes an avatar created by a younger user is told they look too young, according to those who are older.

This group of people disagreed on the issue, due to generational differences of their perception of a woman in that age group. True, the thread had factors such as the sim owner being able to impose whatever rule they wanted on their land and who was allowed there. This, however, is not about the sim owner’s prerogative. It’s about how users in Second Life consider young adults and what they think they actually look like.

I think many times in Second Life, we disagree about what a young adult appears as. We all grew up during different decades, and our heyday has given us an implied bias. For me, the picture above is what I think someone who’s 21 can look like. She’s following an e-girl trend (though not all do), and is willing to try a lot of different wild trends because she’s got the money and freedom to do so. I, however, am a Millenial. Maybe you think differently about this than I do.

What do you think the answer is? Take a picture, post a blog, tag it on IHeartSL with “21Challenge”, and let’s see the results! I want to know the answers others come up with.

Hey Caramia! This is a private sim that’s closed-access, so I cannot give out the URL. If I come across some sims that are public, I will definitely share urls. In the mean time, check out this blog for places to visit: http://zikiquesti.blogspot.com/

Perhaps I was not clear, I am after the Market Place or inworld location of where I can purchase the gladiator dress/shoes, not the private sim you took the photo’s at., I love the outfit and wish to purchase.
Cheers 🙂
