I had a blast attending the town hall events at SL21B last week! This year, the auditorium, aptly named the Aquatorium, was hands down my favorite build. With its stunning PBR texturing, everything looked shiny and beautiful. Although I only attended the town halls and skipped other events, it felt like there was a lack of promotion from Linden Lab for SL21B.
Remember last year? Someone won a car and other amazing prizes. It would have been great to see something similar this year.
If you missed the chance to buy a SecondLifetime Premium or Premium Plus account last year, it’s back! While the Lifetime Premium Plus is sold out, you can still grab a Lifetime Premium or upgrade to Plus if you’re already a Lifetime Premium member. The price might be a bit of a sticker shock, but considering Second Life’s longevity, it’s a worthwhile investment.
I’m hopeful that SL22B will bring a contest to win some cool Second Life swag or something equally exciting to jazz things up.

I only started using BoM yesterday, when I updated my viewer to the latest SL Viewer. I’m not dying to wear system skin or system makeup, cos I think the newer skins are much prettier and more high-res. Old skins and makeups typically used 512 size textures, cos SL limited the size of uploaded textures. It’s still fun to try out this new feature while waiting for brands to update and deliver me better quality textures to wear.
What am I wearing here?
Left: Genus Baby mesh head + system Pink Fuel skin + default Genus lashes (with applier added)
Right: Everything above + system Blush + System Eyeshadow + Applier lipstick
The reason I can mix system skin and system makeup with my mesh head appliers right now is cos Genus has NOT updated their head to be BoM-ready. With a BoM-ready product, you should not be able to use applier makeup, cos all those extra layers will be removed. All of your makeup needs will be done through wearing layers inside your inventory. You can re-arrange your system tattoo layers by going to the Appearance tab, clicking on the Edit this outfit button, then use up/down arrows to re-arrange layers.
Did you know that you cannot use BoM with an applier skin? You must use system skin. I will wait for my applier skin to have an accompanying system layer, to truly enjoy BoM. I’m not sure why SLers want to wear OLD system skins, but they seem to want to, LOL.

I thought I would do a comparison of the Lola face with the new Ava face for people who want to see ’em side by side. I think you’ll see noticeable differences, I especially like the eyes and brows on Ava.
As I said in my previous post, I prefer the Lola lips more because they’re more pouty, so I tried on the Lola lipstick tattoo over the new Ava skin and it fits perfectly. If you’re a fan of both lips shape, wear both!

Hello SL! I downloaded the latest SL Mesh Dev Viewer just to use the depth of field feature that was available a few months ago. Right away, I noticed that they have added a radio button to toggle DoF on/off, so that’s awesome. I looooooove DoF, but for some reason ALL SL viewers have been crashing me tons lately, ughhh. I had to shoot these images smaller resolutions (about 1100 x 1000px) to avoid the dreaded “line” going through my images, but as you can see, DoF is pretty amazing.
*Important tip: If you install the Mesh Dev Viewer, be sure to select the correct grid before logging in. Ctrl+Shift+G (to bring up the Grid Selections) and you want to select AGNI (main grid) and not any of the other beta grids.

People who are good with Photoshop can do these effects on their own, but if you’re totally lazy like me, the built-in DoF feature is the perfect choice. I am crossing my fingers that this will be released on the official client soon. At this point, I would even trade Avatar Physics for DoF, as I think it will be more useful to me, for fashion photography.
Ohhhhhh, and check out new Truth hair! So adorable this week; perfectly girlie, just the way I like it.
