Second Life makes a lot of effort to get users to upgrade to Premium Plus, but they keep falling short. I occasionally upgrade my alts to Plus in order to get the Linden Home concierge service, but none of the other features—not even the larger land holdings—interest me. I was immediately interested in reading today’s blog post on the new SpeedLight benefit for Plus members. Even though I don’t to use Second Life on my phone, it would be convenient to be able to send money, chat with friends, and perform some basic land administration.
What exactly is SpeedLight and do you need Premium Plus to use it? SpeedLight is a mobile viewer that is free to use. You don’t need Plus or Gold (which costs L$1,990 Lindens a month) unless you want to utilize some extra features like 3D World. So I thought to myself, if 3D World renders Second Life as good as the low graphics settings on a viewer, I would be okay with that.
Happy 8th rez day to me! Now that Thanksgiving is behind us, I am so looking forward to Christmas and New Year.
I love all the sparkly textures that I’ve seen from various designers in SL. I’m celebrating my rez day with the sparkly new City Lights dress from Foxes (for Uber). This dress includes a HUD to change the top and the jacket, so it’s really versatile and lovely. I wanted to wear it without the jacket, but the HUD didn’t have a “turn off” option and the dress didn’t come with it unattached, unfortunately!

Are you guys loving your LOGO head as much as I do? I wore my custom eyes from Aphotic Gloom to make it a lil bit more Gogo, and I have also made a skin tint layer to wear with the Pink Fuel Body. The skin match isn’t perfect (there’s a slight line around the neck area) but it’s pretty close!
This head is so versatile, there’s really a lot of things you can do with it to make it your own and not look like everyone else. So far I haven’t confused ‘my’ doll with someone else, yet!

The SLink Real Teeth attachment offers the ultimate customization if you like the “open lips” look. This attachment is sculpted prim teeth and tintable lips texture worn with an alpha layer that hides some portion of the existing lips (on your skin). This product does require intermediate editing skills to fit to your lips shape and also be able to tint the lips texture so it blends seamlessly otherwise it would look weird.
I would say that this is really awesome for photographs, but I would not wear it in-world all the time. The front looks nice, and depending on how good you are at editing (I’m not that good), the side view is decent but not perfect (it would never be unless the lips were custom made to fit).
The SLink Real Teeth package includes: SLink Teeth Corner down, up, and straight in Color and in Grey. I am wearing “corner down” to fit the shape of my lips, because my lips corners are slightly turned down. I think Siddean is brilliant for offering 3 corner options so there’s something for everyone.

Gogo,you always post a bunch of hair from truth,exile,lamb and fri.day…why dont you try other stores…i dont know why the whole of sl fashionista brigade is stuck on hair thats more ahem ‘popular’…granted the fact that these stores do actually have great hair textures and all…but really what about a little bit of oldies like analog dog,jolie femme,bishwear,cake,shop sue,magika and i mean stores that make hair actually look like hair?
Hi Anon! You’re totally right, I do wear Exile, Truth, LeLutka, Friday and a few other brands more than others because I love their Blonde textures and their hairstyles. These brands are undeniably good, and they have mass appeal.
In the past, I have worn ALL of the other oldbie brands that you have mentioned in your comment. I still wear Cake hair from time to time, and also go back to “oldbie” brands when they release new stuff. Cake, for example, has evolved and stayed pretty up-to-date. I won’t wear my very old Cake hairstyles (3 yrs old) but I will wear the newer releases because Stumbelina has incorporated sculpts and updated her textures. That’s the key for me, and I think for a lot of people in SL, especially fashion bloggers. We like NEW. We want our hair to match our skins. Skins have drastically improved over the past years and so, we want our hair to look just as good. If an oldbie brand does not evolve, it just becomes well, old.. and outdated.
I’m not hating on any of the brands you’ve mentioned in particular.. just saying, perhaps you don’t see them featured more prominently is because they just don’t look that great. People want VALUE for their money. Why buy “new” hair that looks outdated from brands that have not evolved?
Btw, I have a lot of oldbie brands in my inventory, some I haven’t worn in years. I’m just too lazy to box them up and too sentimental to delete them.
I’ve deleted a few hair brands from my inventory cos they’re too old but I’ve kept almost everything that I might still wear from time to time.
I’ve just read the latest press release from Linden Lab and I guess I’m a little apprehensive about the acquisition. You read that right, Linden Research, Inc. has been acquired by an investment group.

Looking at your recent posts with a smile on your avatar, I have been wondering if you’re using a mesh mouth attachment or just an emote HUD.
I have seen some mouth smiling mouth attachment somewhere basically for photography but I don’t remember where. Are you using one of those?
I’m not using a mesh mouth, I haven’t found any that I like.
When I put a smile I wear a shape that has VERY wide eyes. That way, my eyes don’t look all squinty.
