This Chu-ing Academy top is a little boxy around the shoulders, but I got the entire outfit on Marketplace for less than $100L. It’s a cute enough style, even if Chu-ing can be a hit or miss brand. I never buy any outfits with built-in hands (so weird!), and Chu-ing is one of several brands that tends to do it.
Truth just released the Vanish hairstyle and it comes with built-in hair base, size options, and style options. Hair brands that anticipate the needs of the customers by offering options will always thrive. I find it so infuriating to find a hairstyle that I like, but it doesn’t fit me no matter what I do to my head size (can’t do anything to the hair, since it’s no mod and rigged).
“Cake,” I said to myself, as I was deciding on an outfit for my first post here, “you can do this. And you don’t have to blog like Gogo. You guys are totally different anyway.”
Which is true! Gogo and I are like sun and moon. She likes pink everything and hates horror films. I like turquoise things and macabre subjects. She likes pop, I like heavy metal and rap. She hates hand-drawn skins, I love the hell out of them. Which means if she posts something she hates, I might even do a counter-post on why I like it.
My name is Cake, I’m like this mini-opposite-Gogo who will be posting here when she isn’t.
I’m pretty sure my time here will be interesting.

Hello virtual neighbors! I have decided to decorate the inside of my Linden home. At first I had planned on using all of the prims outside, for landscaping and exterior decor, but after seeing other residents using their 351 prims wisely, I realized that I wasn’t being efficient. I am still using nearly 200 prims outside, but as I decorate the rooms in my home, I will remove landscaping and replace high-prim items with lower prim ones.
Every home needs a nice living room, it’s usually the first thing people see. I love the Vida Sofa Set from Cheeky Pea. The set includes a texture HUD to change the colors of the sofa & pillows (8 presets), so it would work with lots of interior styles. The entire set is only 46 land impact! (Does anyone know the difference between li and prims?) I aim to use only 50 prims for each room, so I can decorate all the rooms in my home. I added a planter and a few knick-knacks on the shelf, and this room is complete.
Low-prim living, at it’s finest!Everything here is 21 li!
For my foyer area, I am using the Bailey Lounge Chairs, Side Table & Decor set from What Next. Everything includes texture-change options; this set is so versatile! What Next is my go-to home decor brand, it has really sweet styles with nice textures.
My decorating skills are quite low in SL. I don’t like clutter, and I also can’t remember all the things that are in my inventory. This however, works out perfectly in a Linden home. For the sake of being able to rez things quickly, let’s not overload our homes!
After I arranged my decor, I had to do a fresh re-install of Second Life cos my textures kept refreshing constantly. It was a nightmare! I know my computer is quite old (if I tell you how old it is, you will be shocked – hint: it’s almost as old as my blog), but I can usually rez just fine on private sims. I blame my neighbors for this! Being on a shared public sim is difficult, especially with everyone trying to decorate their homes to the brim.
After I did my re-install of Second Life, things were a little better. I decided NOT to adjust the debug settings. Back in the day, it was recommended to adjust rendervolumelodfactor and some other things, to get mesh to render correctly and not be a blob. I’ve been thinking about it, and we have come a long way since the early mesh days. Creators need to optimize their stuff, cos most SL residents don’t even know about the Advanced menu. If I have to adjust debug settings for your things to render correctly, then I do not want them. So my SL experience going forward, will just be whatever the default settings are.
I just found this outfit from The Secret Store in my inventory, that’s how much of a wreck my inventory is right now. I love it! The reason I’m wearing this teal color is cos my new sofa also comes in this exact shade!! If you ever wanted to match your furniture, here’s your chance.
What I’m Wearing:
Pink Fuel – Kiera (Biscuit) for LeLutka
Truth – Surrender
The Secret Store – Fiona Belted Skirt, Samantha Blazer
Vivienne is the latest face added to the Bardot skin series at KA Designs. Each Vivienne skin includes 3 brows option and a hair base option. There are 10 makeups total for each skin tone, one of them is a ‘no makeup’ face, which is my favorite since I love fresh nude faces.
I asked AI to generate a photo of a town with stores and cute cottages
I went to the SL22B Meet the Lindens meeting today, and right at the start, Patch Linden dropped a bombshell. He announced a new land product coming soon to Second Life called Ridgewood Enclave. He didn’t say it’s part of Bellisseria, just that it’s going to be separate and its own thing. That makes me think it might be a bunch of mini region clusters they can launch as needed.
Ridgewood Enclave will have both homes and commercial parcels. The plan is to release the homes first, then the commercial spots later. I’m so ready! Take my money! I don’t even have an in-world store in Second Life right now, but I still want to make a little office or something cute like that.
There was also a quick update that more Linden Home themes are on the way, a theme for Premium Plus and another one for all 3 subscription levels.
Another bombshell is that Second Life is not selling any Premium Lifetime subscriptions this year, which is kind of a bummer. Even though I said what I said in my last post, I know some people were really looking forward to that.
After that first question, I kind of blacked out. My brain was stuck on one thing: Commercial-themed land is coming soon!
My last post featuring the Lollipop had me looking through my “food” folder (yep! I have one!) and I found Pink Fuel’s adorable Happy Donut. The donut is scripted with 11 different flavors, yummm!
I’ve been watching Second Life residents showing off all the features on this new Third Party Viewer based on the Firestorm code, and the main thing I care about is this:
IT FIXES HAIR ALPHA GLITCH.
For a virtual world built entirely around visuals and eye candy, why have we all just been suffering through this for decades? Suddenly out of nowhere, AYAstorm comes along and delivers us from the alpha glitch nightmare. Did nobody else want to fix this? Did Linden Lab just not care? Because this changes EVERYTHING for in-world photography.
I love landscaping, plants, trees, dense nature scenes… and all of that has always been a complete nightmare because of alpha rendering issues. Hair breaking. Layers flickering. Photos ruined. And now? FIXED. OMG.
As much as I still love Aperture Viewer, it hasn’t been updated in forever and it doesn’t have this fix. This alone is enough reason for me to switch immediately.
And beyond that, there are actually a bunch of really cool features if you’re into lighting tweaks, so definitely check it out. Since it’s based off Firestorm, most Second Life residents will already feel familiar with the layout.
Also, if you end up loving this viewer too, please go thank the creator of AYAstorm either in Second Life or over on X/Twitter, because this is one of the most exciting viewer improvements I’ve seen in years.
If you get motion sickness, go to the AYAstorm menu – Motion Blur – and uncheck Enable Motion Blur. Go to SSR – uncheck Enable Screen Space Reflections to remove glitchy water shadow too.
Update: Some of you commented on the quality difference between the viewer and I just wanted to note that I forgot to change the texture resolution to 2048 on AYAstorm (it was shot at 512 by accident). Go to Preferences – Graphics – Texture Rendering – Restrict maximum texture resolution to: change to 2048 pixels.
