Hi! I imported my Studio Windlight Settings due to popular demand. For fans of the original windlights, you can now use them as EEP settings. Please keep in mind that these were made for photography against a backdrop, so the sky/clouds are plain.
Truth has 3 new hairstyles! If you don’t already know, Truth released some roots & hair base last week, for all hair colors. I’m a fan of roots if the style & color goes well together, but hair bases are just not for me!!! I’ve tried them a lil’ bit in the past (bun hairstyles) but I think my head shape is too odd to wear it with a hair attachment and also, most of them don’t have a natural shape (to complement the hairstyle).

I’ve seen people wear this hairstyle with hair base, but to me, it looks fine (if not better) without.
A few days ago, I wore a LeLutka hair base with one of the older bun attachments, and I noticed how much nicer it is than most hair bases out there.

I’ve noticed that skin designers actually have more realistic looking hair bases than hair designers. I wish LeLutka had kept the hair base style that was released with the skins, cos it’s a lot more natural than the ones released for hair.

Sparkle landscaping my new Copperfield Heights cottage
Did I ever tell you guys that I’m a recovering Linden Homes addict?
It’s actually been pretty easy this past year to work on my addiction, mostly because Tiki, Aspen Ridge, and Ridgewood Enclave just weren’t for me. I tried Tiki for about a week or so, just to give it a fair shot. Aspen Ridge and Ridgewood Enclave? I didn’t even try them. I knew on sight they weren’t my thing, and that made it a lot easier to stay “in recovery.”
So last Thursday, Second Life released the newest Linden Homes theme, Copperfield Heights. It caught me off guard because there wasn’t really any hype leading up to it. No big buildup. I wasn’t expecting anything new at all.
I didn’t even love these on sight either. They launched with winter terrain and landscaping, and the houses didn’t really blend into the all-white surroundings. It felt a little harsh visually. And honestly, I wasn’t even wanting another Linden Home. I’ve been doing so well.
But FOMO is FOMO.
So I rolled.
There are definitely things I don’t love. Some of the textures don’t line up perfectly. There’s no white interior wood trim. No back doors on some of the homes. None of it is a deal breaker for me, but it’s also not great. They’re just those little details you notice and wish were done a bit better.
At the same time, there are things I really like. The built-in porches are nice. There’s slight PBR, but it’s not overly shiny like the Aspen Ridge homes. And the houses can absolutely lean cottage if you want them to. That’s what I wanted. A girly cottage. So I made one.

What really sets this theme apart from the previous fifteen is that it’s available for all premium membership levels. Plus members can get a 512. Premium members get a 1024. Premium Plus gets the largest 2048 homes. I think that’s a really good move. The regions are seasonal as well, which we were recently introduced to with Aspen Ridge, and I do like having that variety.
I wouldn’t say I’m completely in love with Copperfield Heights, but I do think I could be happy with one. The one I have now is on a finished edge, and that’s good enough for me.
Sparkle already started landscaping for me, and she says if I leave she’ll unalive me, so I guess I’m staying.

LeLutka introduced a new fades hair texture pack this weekend, and I think it’s pretty awesome! I just wish the packs were broken up into smaller ones, instead of one big fades fatpack. My personal favorite is this Cheryl hairstyle in the MarilynPinkFade texture.

A few days ago, I mentioned that I had to tweak my head shape to wear the ploom hairstyle. I am wearing that same shape today, with the “less round” head, and it still didn’t fit the Cheryl hairstyle! I did not want to make my head more slender, so I asked Kavar to make a better alpha (get it for free on Marketplace!) for me, and he did, and it’s perfect. Thank you, Kavar! All I needed was a bit more alpha on one side to remove a patch of my head that was poking through the hair (I have no idea why only one side had this problem, since the hair seemed symmetrical). I also adjusted my forehead slope to fit the front, cos this hair seems to fit really tightly around the head/face. I also noticed the hairline was different with this hairstyle, and it has a nice effect when you’re zoomed out, but when I zoomed in, I didn’t really like the alpha textures that much (reminds me of a wig).
I’ve noticed that LeLutka’s newest mesh hairstyles seems to be more narrow than before. I have the non-mesh Jolie hairstyle, and the fit was perfect, but the newer mesh version did not fit me at all. The hair strands went into the side of my face, and I just don’t have an alpha layer to fix that. I’m hoping future hair releases will consider adding more width, or having two versions, for those of us with wider heads! 😛
