Hello from Soft Melody!
An Island Hidden in the sky.
Soft Melody
As you will walk down the alley the blossom scent will lift you. The soft warm wind will hug you so very gently. The chimes will guide you and the cats? Well the cats will ignore you because they are still cats after all…
I saw a preview of this place on Flickr several weeks ago, and I just knew it was going to be gorgeous. Being here is like being in a beautiful Japanese city in an Anime. There are sakura petals gently falling all over and it’s full of life and so many cats! I wish I could take this region home with me and keep it forever.
Lately, the term Metaverse has been thrown around by journalists as if it doesn’t already exist. Hello, I am in the metaverse right now, and it is called Second Life. We’re not waiting for the metaverse to happen, it’s been here for nearly twenty years. Show me another metaverse as complete as Second Life…
What can you do in Second Life? A better question is, what can’t you do in Second Life? Sometimes there are niches in Second Life that I am shocked exists. It’s not to my taste, but they’re allowed to freely exist, cos the motto for Second Life’s virtual world aka metaverse, has always been “your world, your imagination”.
I was talking to my friend recently about all of the hype surrounding the “metaverse” and these journalists are trying to chase the next big thing. Why have they overlooked Second Life? We are a thriving metaverse full of talented residents who have done more than just “go shopping and have sex”. What have I seen in Second Life that blows me away? Films made in-world, music videos, games, thousands of beautiful regions, game shows that rival real-world productions, dance companies, plays, DJs, singers, imaginative clothing from SL creators far better than from RL designers, supportive community, interest groups, the list goes on and on! If you’re a journalist, why have you ignored Second Life? Did it not come up in your extensive research? Reach out to me, I’ll show you the real Second Life.
I’m combining a lot of random thoughts into a single post, so forgive me if this is getting kind of random. As you know, there is the Ukraine-Russian War happening in the real world right now. I love Second Life residents for always trying to do good, and diving into charitable events with the mentality of “how can we help?”. I recently came across a self-proclaimed Ukrainian Second Life creator on Facebook posting about boycotting Russian creators in Second Life. Don’t boycott Russian creators, they have nothing to do with this real-world war. I and many other residents prefer to keep real-world problems in the real world, so it really upset me to see this person try to bring those problems into Second Life. Be cautious of supporting misguided intentions.
Now onto more fashionable things…
I’m feeling Springy today, thanks to this cheerful Elyse Dress from Tres Blah. I also stumbled upon this new event called Farmer’s Market on Seraphim. I love the idea! It seems like half of the brands understood the theme, and the other half did not. If an event is to be successful and stand out amongst thousands of other events in Second Life, it must have a cohesive theme. I am into farmer’s market stuff! Give me more of that, and not some random uninspired stuff. I’m holding the Shop Local Basket from Dahlia, it’s so pretty. This basket includes a hold version and a rezzable decor version.
What I’m Wearing:
Truth – Monsoon
Yummy – Dainty Layered Necklace Set
Tres Blah – Elyse Dress (Dayglow)
Ingenue – Liva Heels
Dahlia – Shop Local Basket
