Yesterday, I was having a rather difficult day, and then suddenly Patch Linden announced the release of Thousand Island Tiki Linden homes! This announcement brightened my entire day and possibly my week. Without seeing them first, I upgraded an account to Premium Plus and rolled for a Tiki house.
As a recovering Games of Home (GoH) addict, I quickly found myself drawn into rolling a theme that I know I won’t keep long-term. I immediately burned through the rolls—only five rolls for Premium Plus members? Could we have unlimited rolls? The next day, Second Life released even more Tiki homes. Although I don’t want them that much, my addiction took over, and I created another alt, spending an additional $30 just to burn another five rolls in a few minutes. As I mentioned, being a recovering GoH addict, two alts is my limit for this theme, and I will likely stay where I am for at least the next 30 days. I know these coastlines will eventually be blocked as more regions are launched to meet the demand.
Do I like Tiki Linden homes? I think I would appreciate them more if they were available in lighter colors—I am simply not a fan of brown. Additionally, I am not particularly fond of Tiki aesthetics or circular rooms. While I do like the house model in the photo, I don’t think this theme is meant for me. My favorite Linden home themes remain Traditional and Victorian.
I am grateful for the excitement that GoH provides; it’s fun to explore a new theme. However, I am already looking forward to the Alpine theme, and I hope it’s a winter wonderland. Please please please!

I liked the Grotto homes the best but they still leave a little round tiki hut which I covered up but a Mole made me remove it. Now I’m trying to bury it under Lettuce Coral, which came in the really nice content pack for the tikis. I agree that green bamboo might have worked better or at least been a variation but the natives had to work with the draw straw left from burning unused Log lots I guess.
I, too, recently made an extra alt for PP in part to better do free uploads on the fly when I am using that alt in rentals, it’s such a chore (my big reason for PP is not the 2048 houses, although the Meds are nice, but the uploads, which after about 1000-300 a month, if you make that many, really pays off. So I worked these two accounts night and day and sadly got repeats constantly, they really need to fix that. I didn’t want to wait for a ticketing process (you can request homes directly) because Meds have been so scarce! And I got a bum Med so I ditched it. I wound up moving into a Trad! People like islands — and unlike the private islands, these areas are sailable! I saw lots of boats out. But…I think I will be there only for 30-60 days and meanwhile that expensive alt will be sent back to Premium.
