It’s day 15 of Blackout August and I finally left my platform. I went to the FLF Bday Bash for the free gifts and it was actually really fun to click through everything and feel that familiar rush of new items piling into my inventory. There are hundreds of gifts here, so if you enjoy opening boxes and trying things on, this event will keep you busy. After spending nothing, I teleported home and put together my outfit.
Even though I’m doing this no buy challenge, I have to admit FLF Bday Bash is a great event. Everything, even some fatpacks, is just L$50. If something still catches my eye in September, I will grab it then. For now, the freebies are more than enough.
I found some really cute clothing at the event, but I ended up wearing the Maret dress from Pixicat, which was free at June’s Shop & Hop. Honestly, I still have so many Shop & Hop items waiting to be sorted and blogged.
This photo was taken at Mirai Melody. I have visited before, but now it has a futuristic twist! I love all of the colors and chaos behind me.
What I have learned on day 15 of not spending is that changing my outfit in Second Life is just as fun with freebies as it is with paid items. The feeling is pretty much the same for me.

Truth – Darla | Larissa | Eloise (in Swedish Blonde)
These three new hairstyles from Truth are stunning, and of course I’m wearing my favorite Swedish Blonde. I get lots of Google searches to my site for “swedish blonde” and I hope they’re not disappointed when they get here! Hi guys, I’m not actually from Sweden but my avatar is Blonde and wearing the fabulous Swedish color *waves*!
I instantly knew I would love Larissa, cos the style is so sleek and sexy. I’m pairing it with my Hucci-mama Gold Rain Jumpsuit! Eboni Khan is fast becoming one of my favorite casual wear stores, cos she really designs for girls who are not afraid to embrace their inner Hucci. I prefer booty shorts and low cut tops to pants and a proper shirt, but you guys already know that if you follow my blog! It doesn’t have to be skanky if your avatar doesn’t look dirrrty.
I’m so happy there are artistically talented people in the world! <3 Aemeth Lysette did one of me and I just L-O-V-E it! She’s taking commissions, so order yours early before she’s swamped.
Check out the artwork on my SL wall! This picture is for sale in-world for $100L, please stop by Aemeth’s shop and purchase a copy of Gogo for your wall. If you love my blog, I am asking you to support Aemeth cos she is a wonderful RL artist.
There are other portraits for sale there too, so collect them all? Or order your very own commission portrait, so we can purchase you!
I was playing around with the Solaris glow in ReShade the other day when it hit me that I can already do this in the Aperture Viewer. This is still my favorite viewer right now, but it looks like the creator’s stepped away from the project since last year, which is really sad. It feels like every third party viewer I end up liking either doesn’t get updated enough or just gets abandoned completely.
This post isn’t about TPVs though, I just needed to say that.
You might’ve heard about the newly released Ridgewood Enclave Commercial shops, or maybe you haven’t. Even when something’s “big news” to some people, most Second Life residents stay in their own bubble and don’t follow updates or read blogs. And that’s fine. A lot of people just want to log in and play Second Life at their own pace.
I’m not one of those people, especially when it comes to Bellisseria.
Last week in the middle of the day, my friend messaged me saying “omg, shops dropped!” We’d been waiting for these for months after the Lindens hinted at them during a land meeting. Even though I already knew I really don’t like the Ridgewood Enclave home theme, I still opened the map, teleported, and claimed a shop.
My Shop
It’s free for Premium Plus, doesn’t count against your tier or your Linden Home, so you really do get to have everything here.
I’m not going to complain about a free perk. The experience has been nice so far. I ended up on a full block with friends because we all rushed over at the same time and grabbed one.
Some people are upset that they didn’t get one, or that the Bellisseria Citizens group heard about it before the official blog post went out. It sounds like it was shared a couple of hours earlier. But honestly, that’s just how things go sometimes. If you’re in the group and paying attention, you’re going to hear things sooner. If you find out later, then unfortunately on a limited release, it’ll be sold out.
There will be more shops. Probably Monday, based on what was said at the land meeting today.
Even though it’s been less than a week, residents are already creating events and websites around the new shops. I’d barely started moving in before I was getting messages asking me to pay for advertising or join groups to promote my shop. No thanks. I don’t want to advertise anything. I just want a quiet little shop. I’m a Lifetime Premium Plus member and I’m just enjoying the perk.
I also think Linden Lab shouldn’t make too many of these. I know the demand is high right now, but the number of shops should stay small compared to homes. If there are too many, Bellisseria starts to feel less like a place to live and more like a mall.
Sparkle’s Shop, the prettiest
When something’s limited, people get weird about it. Sometimes ugly. Or maybe some people just aren’t used to how Bellisseria works yet. If I had to describe it in two words, it would be “sold out.” And that’s not a bad thing.
Some themes are always sold out, and that’s fine. It’s better than being undesirable. We’ve already seen what happens when there are too many. Chalets, Fantasy, Log Homes, Houseboats. They were all in high demand at one point. Now there are more than people want.
We don’t need everything all at once. People move on, and when they do, the community around something new fades too. It’s better to let something stay a little rare.
Also, we don’t need to overcomplicate how people use these shops. If someone wants to pretend to sell virtual coffee, let them. Commercial doesn’t have to mean serious business. We’re all already paying customers anyway, no one deserves a shop more than others.
“Your shop, your way” feels like the right idea. With some rules, just not a million of them.
At the end of the day, this is supposed to be fun.
I’ve always been happy with my SLink Physique body, but some residents wanted more curves and thicker thighs, etc. The newest SLink Physique Hourglass body delivers ample curves and is noticeably thicker. You’ll see this body reviewed many times, so I’ll make this short and sweet.
Out of the box, the Hourglass body on my shape is way too curvy for my taste. I find the waist to hip ratio too extreme, but some residents seem to favor this look. With three slider tweaks (Waist, Love Handles, Breast Size), I was able to adjust my shape to something more moderate that still looks curvy without being extreme. As you can see, I am still my usual size, with slightly thicker thighs, which are lovely!
The new HUD is amazing, cos you can now toggle various sections of the body on/off, without having to click many parts individually.
Let me know if you’ve tried the new SLink Physique Hourglass body, and if you will be switching to it! I haven’t decided what I will do yet, but I will spend some more time tweaking the body so the proportions are my idea of well-balanced.
What I’m Wearing:
Nothing, lol.
Pink Fuel Skin
Truth Hair – Foxy
Ingenue – Mara Flats (Latte)
Exile has updated all current hair textures and even added a new color pack! I’m wearing Autumn, one of the colors in the Dark Blondes pack and I just love it so much. All the textures seems to pop with the addition of some more shine & darkened roots. Check out the color legend at Exile’s website to view the texture legend.
This week’s release has three hairstyles for women and two for men. Check that out…. especially if you’re a guy looking for new hair. Support hair designers when they actually make boy hair, otherwise they won’t release ’em!
I have also tried on a few of my old favorite hairstyles to check out the new textures and I really think is worth the update. If you already own some of these, do get it again in new textures, cos the roots & shine adds so much depth to the hair.
