Let’s go for a ride! I meant to tell you guys about the Culprit Hovery Craft (visit the mainstore) last week cos of the limited time sale, but I’ve been too busy riding, flying, and sailing it ALL over Bellisseria. It’s truly the best little classic car ever. I can give one friend a ride with it, and I’ve been driving all of them home in my little car. I say this should be the official ride for Bellisseria, cos it’s good on land, sea, and air.
Driving can be a bit challenging on Bellisseria, especially with land orbs ejecting people too quickly. 15 seconds is not enough time to reverse and get out of a parcel when you’ve accidentally driven off the road. Please, dear neighbors, stop using land orbs. For as long as I have been on Bellisseria (since April 15th), no one has ever wandered onto my land uninvited. It doesn’t happen as much as people would like to think.
The Culprit Hovery Craft also includes a rezzer, so you can rez it on your land for friends and neighbors to use. So awesome, and so cheap for everything that it comes with, and all of the joy it brings.
I love the Culprit Hovery Craft so much that I built a carport to store it! Well, I didn’t actually build it, Blush Bravin did, but I rezzed it on my land and built a drive way for it. I avoid mega add-ons cos I enjoy my sparsely decorated beach. This carport and porch add-on is not too big, and suits the tiny Adams house very well.
What I’m Wearing:
Exile – Elle
The Secret Store – Flora Lace Top, Aster Garter Shorts
Twirl over to Hair Fair, it ends at midnight SLT tonight. I instantly fell in love with this Rie hairstyle from Argrace. Besides being absolutely adorable – 100% of the proceeds are donated to Wigs for Kids. Of course you can probably get it later, but if you get it now, you’ll look cute and feel great about your purchase.
I also went to The Arcade this morning and had to have this Ice Cream Cart from 220ML. I have several ice cream trucks and ice cream carts, and yet I still needed this specific Ice Cream cart. Thankfully, there aren’t too many pieces to collect; I decided not to collect all of them, due to li limitations on my Linden home. For now, this ice cream cart will live at my beach house.
Bakes on Mesh is live on the main grid! Before you read my post, I recommend reading Aems Bakes on Mesh post to learn about BoM and what products you can buy to make your mesh body parts BoM-ready.
I only started using BoM yesterday, when I updated my viewer to the latest SL Viewer. I’m not dying to wear system skin or system makeup, cos I think the newer skins are much prettier and more high-res. Old skins and makeups typically used 512 size textures, cos SL limited the size of uploaded textures. It’s still fun to try out this new feature while waiting for brands to update and deliver me better quality textures to wear.
What am I wearing here? Left: Genus Baby mesh head + system Pink Fuel skin + default Genus lashes (with applier added) Right: Everything above + system Blush + System Eyeshadow + Applier lipstick
The reason I can mix system skin and system makeup with my mesh head appliers right now is cos Genus has NOT updated their head to be BoM-ready. With a BoM-ready product, you should not be able to use applier makeup, cos all those extra layers will be removed. All of your makeup needs will be done through wearing layers inside your inventory. You can re-arrange your system tattoo layers by going to the Appearance tab, clicking on the Edit this outfit button, then use up/down arrows to re-arrange layers.
Did you know that you cannot use BoM with an applier skin? You must use system skin. I will wait for my applier skin to have an accompanying system layer, to truly enjoy BoM. I’m not sure why SLers want to wear OLD system skins, but they seem to want to, LOL.
Didn’t I warn that Bakes On Mesh was coming? I did. I said this was going to force mesh head makers to revert their UV maps back to standard SLUV, too, because everyone is going to start using standard skins more and more now. If you are a mesh head developer and your heads don’t adhere to standard SLUV, get on it. You will lose money eventually because customers are going to want to wear whatever skin they want with whatever head they buy.
So, what the hell is Bakes On Mesh?
Bakes on Mesh (yes, plural, according to this SL wiki page) is a new feature in Second Life that automatically “bakes” your standard skins and tattoo layers to your mesh bodies and heads. Whenever you switch skins or wear different layers of tattoos on your body, your mesh will automatically update your look without you having to do anything.
Over time, there will be less and less dependency on applier routers like Omega, because now Second Life’s system is the applier. However, you’ll want to check with your mesh body maker to be sure their body is BoM ready. If it isn’t, they should be updating soon.
Have you visited Hair Fair? Exile launched one of my favorite new hairstyles at Hair Fair, along with new textures and a redesigned HUD. I’ve been wearing this Audrey hairstyle for days, it’s my favorite hair at the moment.
