“Elle Couerblanc here, reporting live from the 10th Rez Day event for the SL Diva, Elizabeth Hallstrom” (the roar of the crowds can be heard behind her).
“WAIT A MINUTE,” a fellow says to the reporter, “Who is Elizabeth Hallstrom exactly?” At this point, Elle covers her mic and turns to the fellow and replies in a curt tone, “Elizabeth is me you fool! Well I am her and she is me and we are…never mind you idiot, GET OUT OF MY FACE AND LET ME DO MY JOB!”
Whoa…what a dramatic moment right? You see, Elizabeth was my very first avatar in Second Life and she was brought into this alternate reality on exactly January 27th, 2007 probably sometime around 3PM SLT. Yes there have been others to follow: Lizzie Lexington, Betty Paramour and Bettencourt and eventually, Ms. Elle Couerblanc! But I really do like Ms. Hallstrom, so every 6 months or so, I bring her out of the closet, dust her off and make her all pretty once again. You see, if i were define one of my avatars as the closest to “me”, it would be Elizabeth.
So Happy Rez Day Ms. Hallstrom and I hope you have many other rez days to come!
This past Monday, the media reported extensively on a report by psychologist Cliff Arnall indicating Monday January 16th may be the Bluest Monday in a very long time. So what was Elle’s typist doing on that particular Monday? Well she was at home, sick and taking photos of her Second Life avatar!
I did not feel particularly blue emotionally but for sure I was feeling down physically. After being in Second Life for almost 10 years, I have found my avatars often are a reflection of myself in Real Life. Not necessarily say how Elle looks but in how I decorate Elle. When I am happy I tend to dress her in youthful, colorful clothes. In a moment when I am down, I might dress her in more dark, subdued tones. And on Monday, when these photos were taken, she was in a whole lot of black!
Any who, just some random thoughts today. Details on Elle’s look can be found below. So until next, take care my friends and have a great Second Life!
Okay so…the other day I managed to take a whole batch of photos including the one you see here with Elle in her New Years Eve outfit she had been styling for weeks! Well not exactly weeks, and maybe actually, just a couple of hours – but that’s beside the point, LOL. But as luck would have it (or more than likely an ID10T error on Elle’s typist’s part) windows ate them all! Elle was traumatized and so beside herself, she just couldn’t push herself to try to take the photo again. Oddly enough, one was still in my recently viewed cached items, although, the file itself was gone! So what’s a disappointed and lazy fashion blogger to do? Use Snipit and take a photo of a photo woot!
Anyway, I had tons of fun with this photo – from styling Elle to building the little set. There are so many wonderful little knickknacks in SL now that I think building sets might be a thing for me going forward. Details on the items used in this photo along with Elle’s outfit can be found below. For now…I am out peeps – so in the meantime, take care my friends and have a great Second Life!
Hello Second Life! My name is Elle Couerblanc and I will be joining Gogolita and Aems here at JuicyBomb! I am thrilled to be a part of this team and happy to be back in Second Life. I have been away from the grid for a while (damn RL) and finally have a bit of breathing room to start enjoying gaming once again. It has been close to almost two years since I was around regularly (only popping in now and then to say hello to everyone) and so much has changed!
You might be asking what dragged me back into SL (besides my friend of course) after all this time. Well the answer is simple my friends – BENTO! When mesh heads first came out, I hated them…..HATED…..THEM and felt like the uniqueness of avatar creation was gone forever. But Bento has changed this perception for me and I cannot wait to start exploring SL again.
So join me friends on my adventures in Second Life and of course with a bit of fashion sense along the way. A little about me and my photos: I do use some Photoshop techniques – largely using Actions to enhance rather than to take away. I don’t edit facial features though when I post about skin, such with this photo featuring Park Shin from The Skinnery found at Collabor88. I also enjoy reinventing Elle fairly regularly: meaning I am not tied to a specific ethnicity, hair color, size etc. Also, I am bit slow to the latest trends and releases so I might post about something that might be OMG a MONTH OLD! Furthermore I am a bit lazy about SLurls (LOL) but I will do my best to change this nasty habit.
Anywho, enough of chattering – details of my look can be found below. So in closing, take care my friends and have a great Second Life!
Edited to add: Excuse my renoobness in my forgetting to bump up my antialias in this photo. It is not as crisp as normal. I will do better next time folks!
Today several amazing things happened. First, I became a rock star. Second, Pink Fuel released the most gorgeous Liya skin, but it is for the Catwa mesh head only. Third, I bought a Catwa head for the sole purpose of blogging the Liya skin. These things don’t usually happen all in the same day, since I’m usually not that social nor do I change my entire look on a whim.
I didn’t plan on buying any mesh heads since Project Bento is right around the corner. If you don’t know what that is, Project Bento will allow certain mesh heads to be editable (like default SL shapes). I don’t know much about it, but that’s the feature I’m most excited about.
Chances are good that if Pink Fuel creates something, I will blog it. I’m just not a huge fan of Catwa mesh heads, since I never found any skins I liked on it. I decided to give it a try today cos I wanted to wear the Liya skin, and I must say there are lots of products on Marketplace for Catwa. If you already own a Catwa head, I highly recommend the Liya skin from Pink Fuel. If you’re like me and tend to buy things just to blog then never wear them again, maybe wait for a Project Bento release so it’s editable.
The Liya skin includes a HUD with so many options!
Did you guys click on the link above to read Sasy’s blog post? Read it if you’re a blogger. Sasy proposed that when bloggers post about any brand’s item, go to that brand’s flickr/social media post pages and share your link! This type of cross-promotion can only help drive sales for the brand when their own customers see it in use by many bloggers with different style ideas and photography styles. I am on board with this cross-promotion idea, so I will start sharing my links when I blog any products.
What I’m Wearing:
Pink Fuel – Liya (Ivory)
LeLutka – HF06 hair
Ricielli – Julia Minitop (Orchid)
