    I’m a bit of a body skin collector and often change them depending on what suits my face skin. For years, I wore Pink Fuel body skins; they were my favorite because the shading was not heavy, and the texture was smooth with few imperfections. Even though I have several body skins that I’m happy with (including many tattoo fixes from Izzie’s), I jumped at the chance to try the free Next Level body skins from LAQ. If you use Maitreya, Legacy, Reborn, Belleza, Slink, or Omega (appliers), you’ll be able to wear these body skins. I am currently wearing it on the Maitreya LaraX body, and it’s just as good, if not better, than any body skins currently available from other brands.

    I paired the LAQ 1.5 tone with my Glam Affair L005 face skin, but wanted it to be a touch lighter to match better. To fix this, I created body tint tattoos and listed them on Marketplace for L$10. If you want an exact match, like I do, be sure to check these out. You can easily tint the tattoo layers to match any face skin you’re wearing.

    Recently, I found myself longing for a smooth body skin without highlights or shadows; I was tired of using dozens of body skin fixes to achieve the desired look. So, I am overwhelmingly impressed by this body skin. Mallory Cowen, the creator of LAQ, is a pioneer when it comes to texture skins in Second Life. She was among the first brands to create realistic skins with beautifully designed signature LAQ faces. I wore them for many years and think it’s nice to incorporate a bit of LAQ into my current look. I have also been asking Mallory to create some EvoX head skins, which I am know will be a success.

    LAQ Elvae Supreme UHD Skin

    Back in February, I blogged about the new LAQ Era2 Mesh Head and highlighted some of its exciting new features. One standout was the Supreme UHD skin, boasting a higher resolution that truly impressed. Recently, while browsing through Flickr, I stumbled upon a breathtaking ad from LAQ showcasing their new Elvae skin. The shine and texture of the skin looked absolutely amazing—I simply had to try it!

    One thing I love about PBR (Physically Based Rendering) is the enhanced shine on skins in specific lighting conditions. It adds a level of realism that’s hard to beat. I’m hoping more skin designers will explore PBR and update their processes to offer us a wealth of lighting add-ons.

    After tweaking my shape to match the Elvae skin and the LAQ Era2 Elle mesh head, I was blown away by the realism. It could easily be mistaken for one of those popular mesh people rezzed around Second Life or maybe even resemble characters from the upcoming inZOI game.

    LAQ Lulu

    Isn’t this new head by LAQ cute? This is the Lulu mesh head, which is great for users who want a more doe-eyed look out of their avatar. If you want to see how Gogo looks with this mesh head, just scroll back one entry or click here.

    This head is going to be very kind to hand-drawn skin makers! Lulu is expressive and perfect for painted textures. It’s also wonderful for dollish skins and youthful brands. In fact, this head is so nice that I want to make more skins for it!

    A note for skin devs: the creator’s package at LAQ’s store contains a lot of helpful UVs to help you make custom looks for this head, including eyelashes and teeth. There’s also a texture map that shows where the lipstick area begins and ends, so you can simply select the section and texture away.

    Laq - Lulu

    Meet Lulu, the newest mesh head from LAQ. On my last review of Gaia, the first bento mesh head from LAQ, I did not mention my thoughts on the shape tweaking process for the head cos it was still in the beta stage. The sliders are on Lulu are improved, so editing it is a breeze compared to Gaia. Some people said that the eyes looked sad on my shape, but I have yet to figure out how to fix that. I don’t even mind the sad eyes, it gives Lulu a sweet appearance. If you’re a fan of cute youthful faces, check out Lulu!

    I am wearing the default skin included with the HUD, and the Fresh Lip Tint gloss from Pink Fuel.

    Laq - Gaia 1.0

    It’s raining mesh heads! I’m wearing Gaia 1.0, the newest Bento Mesh Head from Laq. I’m excited by bento editing capabilities and motion capture animations. I spent hours obsessively tweaking this head to look like me, but lately I’ve been more flexible with my looks. I wore the skin and makeups included in the Laq HUD, so this look is completely achievable right out of the box!

    Laq - Gaia 1.0

    The Laq HUD is comparable to other mesh heads on the market – full of features and customization options. I particularly liked the Moods tab, which includes 4 default animated moods that you can play continuously, and 12 animated expressions (includes the option to play continuously or as poses).

    My favorite feature on this HUD, is the Looks tab to save different skins & makeup options. With one click, the HUD saved my entire look, and even created a preview pic. The preview pic feature is amazing, cos I tend to forget what I have saved.

    Laq - Gaia 1.0

    Watch Mallory’s video showing the motion captured  animations, and tell me those are not the best animations you have ever seen! I like that each expression includes a few poses and plays in a continuous loop.

    Now comes the critiques, which surprisingly isn’t much. What I want added to the HUD is a CLEAR ALL button, for when all of my makeup layers are wonky and I want to start over. This head is new, so there are not a lot of skins available for it yet. I would probably like it even more if I could try different skins. Thankfully, it is OMEGA-enabled, so there are some things that will work with it, but OMEGA is terribly slow.

    LAQ - Maxine Mesh Head

    Hello Maxine! This new mesh head from LAQ includes the Evelyn skin applier, and a HUD to change features, expressions, and save settings. I am wearing Pink Fuel skins made for LOGO mesh heads (Kiyomi base, and Morgana eyeshadows) and LAQ lipstick. This mesh head should work with any OMEGA skin; but the fit varies. I was happy when I discovered that the Kiyomo skin from Pink Fuel works really well with this head!

    LAQ - Maxine Mesh Head

    The HUD for Maxine is easy, I especially like the lash options (3 different styles, length is adjustable), and the ability to save my makeups in the Looks tab.

    With just a single head attachment, Maxine is very easy to wear. The head includes standard animated expressions that can be frozen for still photos too.
