Pink Fuel – Millie no blush (skin only) | with HD Lipstick

Hi everyone! It’s 2021, are you ready for a new look? Pink Fuel just released the Millie skin for LeLutka Evolution mesh heads. This skin is Bakes on Mesh and comes with options to customize your look. In the picture above, I am wearing the skin only on the left, and on the right, I have added the HD Lipstick. I prefer HD lipstick to BoM lipstick, always, cos it looks so much more crisp and realistic.

LOGO Chelsea Mesh Head

LOGO - Chelsea Mesh Head

Say hello to my new face!

I’m wearing the free LOGO Chelsea Mesh head from the LOGO 15th anniversary event. I feel like I’ve come full circle with my faces, cos the very first mesh head that I loved was LOGO’s Chloe. Maximillion Grant is an old friend whom I consider to be a pioneer in mesh heads. We’ve come a long way in SL with mesh heads, but I don’t think we have peaked. The latest thing to wow you is just right around the corner.

Every single time a hair store runs a 50% sale, they launch new textures shortly after the sale. I was pleasantly surprised by the new Magika hair textures – so realistic! I’m a fan of hair stores including all of the colors in one single hud, for one price, and not even the usual “fatpack” prices that clothing brands charge, but just a few hundred lindens ($370L at Magika).

LeLutka Mesh Head / Fleur

LeLutka Mesh Head / Fleur

Have you ever felt that you needed a push to make a change? That push for me came on Friday night when I saw that LeLutka released the new Fleur head. It brightened my entire weekend, and I spent hours working on my new face. I try to recreate my face on many different heads, which isn’t impossible if you choose the same products (skin, eyes, etc.).

Making a new shape is something I enjoy doing, but I see many of my friends struggle with it. Even though I have a LeLutka evolution shape that I made for the Lake head before, it did NOT fit Fleur at all. The eyeballs popped out and the face looked like a deflated balloon. It almost turned me away from the head, but I decided to think of Fleur as a whole new ‘brand’, and went to work giving myself virtual plastic surgery. LOL!!

When I choose a new head, I always make sure I find the skin that I like to pair it with before spending hours making my shape & purchasing. Fleur just released less than 48 hours ago, so there are very few skins made specifically for Fleur. You may think that because a skin is labelled “for Lelutka BoM” or “for LeLutka Evolution” it would fit on ALL of the heads, but you would be very disappointed.

Are you ready for Bakes on Mesh?

When Bakes on Mesh went live six months ago, I thought it would change the way we wore skins and phase out appliers completely. This did not happen. In fact, I recently learned that with BoM (just a fancy name for system layers that we’ve had since the beginning of SL), it’s not possible to have high-resolution appliers. LeLutka responded by launching a new BoM-ready mesh head with brand new HD applier zones, thus continuing your dependency on appliers forever. Genus followed by delivering a BoM script to customers and encouraging the continued use of appliers. Did BoM make things easier for anyone? No.

I see lots of SL residents and friends saying that they won’t use BoM, or they don’t understand BoM. Even though the concept is simple, the way mesh head brands have merged appliers with BoM created chaos. I think it would be easier if brands broke their mesh heads out into 3 products: Mesh Head w/ Appliers Only (what we had), Mesh Head with Just BoM (one mesh, removing all the “onion layers”), and Mesh Head with a Combination of BoM & Appliers (the direction we’re headed in). Something for everyone. Does this create more work for designers? Absolutely.

I said I would only go BoM when my skin was available, and that day came with the latest Pink Fuel Gaia release. I had to give up my EEP Viewer to use the latest official SL viewer. The new Gaia and Maia skins from Pink Fuel are system layers, so if you don’t currently have a BoM-activated Genus mesh head, you can’t wear this skin. This skin is made for Genus, and will not fit any other brands. Of course, you can try, but the result would not be pretty.

I’ve played around with a combination of wearing only system layers makeups, only appliers makeups, and a combination of both. BoM is still new and kind of confusing, but once you get it and use it correctly, your customization options are endless. I’m having fun incorporating bits of my old makeup brand, cheLLe, into my current look.

Seashore

Seashore

Hi from the Sommergewitter sim, which translates to summer thunderstorm.

I’ve been thinking about my hair color lately… and I’ve decided to go platinum blonde again. Exile made the cutest short wispy hairstyle called Insomnia. In fact, I’m obsessed with a lot of Exile hairstyles lately; you should definitely go check out the Exile mainstore for some gorgeous hairstyles.

My photos are so much better cos of EEP! Have you tried the EEP viewer? I can’t wait for EEP to be live on the grid, so more people will be forced to try it out.

What I’m Wearing:

  • Exile – Insomnia
  • Amitomo – Girlfriend Gacha (4)
  • Toksik – Selva Shorts
  • Ingenue – Elin Flats

Bakes on Mesh / BoM, part 2

Bakes on Mesh is live on the main grid! Before you read my post, I recommend reading Aems Bakes on Mesh post to learn about BoM and what products you can buy to make your mesh body parts BoM-ready.

I only started using BoM yesterday, when I updated my viewer to the latest SL Viewer. I’m not dying to wear system skin or system makeup, cos I think the newer skins are much prettier and more high-res. Old skins and makeups typically used 512 size textures, cos SL limited the size of uploaded textures. It’s still fun to try out this new feature while waiting for brands to update and deliver me better quality textures to wear.

Genus Mesh Head + System skins

What am I wearing here?
Left: Genus Baby mesh head + system Pink Fuel skin + default Genus lashes (with applier added)
Right: Everything above + system Blush + System Eyeshadow + Applier lipstick

The reason I can mix system skin and system makeup with my mesh head appliers right now is cos Genus has NOT updated their head to be BoM-ready. With a BoM-ready product, you should not be able to use applier makeup, cos all those extra layers will be removed. All of your makeup needs will be done through wearing layers inside your inventory. You can re-arrange your system tattoo layers by going to the Appearance tab, clicking on the Edit this outfit button, then use up/down arrows to re-arrange layers.

Did you know that you cannot use BoM with an applier skin? You must use system skin. I will wait for my applier skin to have an accompanying system layer, to truly enjoy BoM. I’m not sure why SLers want to wear OLD system skins, but they seem to want to, LOL.

Last Friday, I picked up the Bailey Coffee Table & Bailey Picture Shelf from What Next. I want my house to have a cohesive look, so I limit the furnishings to just a few brands. This picture shelf matches the rest of my stuff, and only has 1 land impact! You can also change the texture on the shelf, frames, and pictures. All of this for 1 li – that’s magic!

Sundarban

Hello from Sundarban!

Today I’m taking my Genus Baby mesh head out for a spin. Back in April, I blogged the Delina skin from Pink Fuel with Genus Baby mesh head. I tweaked my shape and now I like the head more. Pink Fuel just released the Delina skin in more skin tones, yay! I also made a shape for Genus baby, check it out on Marketplace.

I wish Genus would update their HUD, cos it’s definitely not well-designed and still lack essential features. Compared to other mesh heads, how do you rank the Genus HUDs? Which brand, in your opinion, has the best HUD?
