  1. The message behind this initiative is meaningful and definitely worth reflecting on, taking a break can be truly healing, both for creators and residents. That said, I wonder if this was announced in advance (maybe I missed it?), because for many designers, August is when they release the items they spent all of July working on.

So asking people to “unplug” now puts creators in a difficult spot, they’ve already invested time and energy into content that might not sell simply because shoppers are stepping back. It would have made more sense to share this kind of initiative earlier, giving designers a chance to not spend July producing something that might go unnoticed in August.

The message still holds value, but with better timing and coordination, it could have been even more impactful and fair to everyone involved.

Sure, a creator could decide to take August off from working (and that’s valid) but it leads to the same loop: the item they would’ve created in August would then be released in September. The cycle just shifts, not really breaks.

Anyway, I love your blog 🙂
