Bye to the Old Linden Homes
Did you know the old Linden Homes are going away?
That’s right. Those first Linden Homes from way back in the day (we’re talking over 15 years ago) are slowly being phased out. If you or someone you know are still living in one, you might not have even noticed the quiet little notices Second Life has posted about their closure. But when the regions eventually disappear, it’s sure to come as a surprise to anyone still hanging on.
To be honest, it’s time. These homes have had a good run, but it’s time to retire them. I fully support this transition because Second Life has given plenty of notice over the years. The first big clue came in 2019 with the launch of Bellisseria, the new generation of Linden Homes. They’ve now been around for six years, offering more prims, better designs, and a livelier community.
While there’s no official shutdown date yet, I personally think closing the old regions within the next 30 days would be fair. Resources are limited, and it doesn’t make sense to keep supporting outdated areas for just a few remaining residents. Thankfully, there are great alternatives such as Bellisseria, mainland parcels, or even choosing to go land-free.
I still remember when the original Linden Homes launched. Honestly, I wasn’t all that impressed even then. They served their purpose, but their time has passed. Their quiet farewell feels right.

I was admiring Exile’s new Aqua hair texture and I thought it would make a really cute mermaid look. Of all the things I have in my inventory, I didn’t have a mermaid outfit! *shock.. horror!* I wore Exile’s Waters Edge outfit instead and played around with my Windlight settings to get this very cool snapshot. I cropped it in Picnik and added some sparkles effect. Sparkles makes everything better!
Up, Up, and Away
I found a pretty basic t-shirt on Marketplace today, but I love the fun & colorful print, so I bought it. This t-shirt isn’t well made and it doesn’t even have sculpted or mesh prims, but that didn’t stop me. It was cheap, cute, and I’m happy wearing it just once (or twice!).
So many people have said that they’re only purchasing mesh items going forward, but I think there’s still room in SL for inexpensive cute things, and I hope that never changes.

AOHARU has a surprising new release that’s just full of yummy clothes and hair! It seems like all the big brands have been focusing on hair lately, and that’s totally fine with me. These two new hairstyles from AOHARU are called Nina and Linka. They hair scarf & bow is scripted to color change.
I’ve always adored AOHARU’s sculpted clothes and textures. The shading on this Basic Blouse is so soft and realistic, and goes perfectly with the new leather RibbonSkirt.

[ Black no. 1 – Corellia (Med-Light) ]New skin designer Jade Glazner has just released two more faces for her Black no. 1 skins brand. This brand is off to a great start with the faces and makeups available. I think they'll appeal to those that like heavier shadings on the cheekbones and body.
[ Black no. 1 – with dimples & without ]Shown here is the Corellia skins in Med-Light skin tone. This skin has 5 makeups and two versioinis: with dimples or without dimples. I think the face is a bit more mature, slim, and makes a great Brunette.
[ Black no. 1 – Ana (Latte) ]This is the Ana askins, and has 10 different makeups and to me, it's not as realistic as Corellia but the lips are very well done.
I'll be looking forward to more to come from this new skin designer! 🙂

Have you been to Cara Bella? This newly launched brand from Piper Ashdene (formerly Aden Breyer) has just released the Arianna skins in 5 skin tones, and 8 makeups. I’ve been seeing teasers of this skin for a week now, so I was quite excited to try it on myself.
Arianna also comes with brow options, and cleavage enhancers & dehancers tattoos.

I did notice that the “Enhancer” shading is much too dark for it to look natural, but the natural cleavage (on the skin itself) and the Dehancer is just right.
The body on Arianna was decent, except for this large seam on the inner thigh and a very faint one on the torso. This area must be incredibly hard for skin creators cos I noticed that many brands have this issue.
Overall, I like this skin but it needs some improvement. The lips corners are shaded too dark, I had to reduce my Lip Fullness slider to fix that area (but I want bigger lips!!). I also didn’t like the Blonde brows as much as I like this Dark Brows color. Lots of designers simply cannot do convincing Blonde brows. And I hope Piper makes changes to the Enhancer shading! That’s pretty much all of my critique… this is a skin review, after all.
