I was so excited to see Kuni at Hair Fair this year. It’s one of my favorite hair brands in Second Life. The textures look especially gorgeous when you turn on materials because there is a realistic shine that brings everything to life. It blends beautifully with SL skins and really adds to the realism of your avatar.
If you have not checked out Hair Fair yet, you definitely should. Every single item donates a percentage to Wigs for Kids, a smaller charity that could really use the support, especially right now. You get amazing hair and help a great cause at the same time. It’s a win win.
Diversity Hair has released 5 new hairstyles for the Hair Fair. The styles are cute & funky, they're all different from each other too! Lots of cute colors to choose from.
[ Shown above: Full bright, full bright @ midnight, not full bright (SO MUCH BETTER!) ]
One of my biggest hair pet peeves is FULL BRIGHT hair textures. Full bright textures changes the way the textures look (in the case above, it added more yellow to this Natsumi hairstyle in Platinum Blonde). I don't want to wear full bright hair, ever. This problem is not noticable in daylight, but once you're at Sunset or darker, the hair will be the only thing that glows on your avatar (hopefully) and it'll look awkward. Thankfully, all Diversity Hair hairstyles are modifable, even though it still annoyed me to have to uncheck the "full bright" button (what if I forget? It would lead to wearing awful bright hair). Some designers create no mod hair, and have this option permanently checked…… believe me when I say that if I've ever bought your hair and it was full bright and I couldn't undo that, I have never gone back. And I will tell all my friends… that your hair sucks. So please for the lurve of gawd, if you must do full bright, make your hair modifable or include two versions. Nobody likes full bright hair, really! /end rant
I’ve been thinking about SL22B, Second Life’s big birthday celebration, which is coming up next week. Around this time every year, I also find myself reflecting on whether I would buy SecondLifetime Premium Plus again in 2025.
Back at SL20B, Second Life introduced SecondLifetime Premium and SecondLifetime Premium Plus. It was a limited offer, and I was able to buy just one SecondLifetime Premium for $749 dollars. Then during SL21B, they gave us the option to upgrade from regular lifetime to Plus. I went for it and spent another $1,150 dollars to upgrade my main account. I also bought a brand new SecondLifetime Premium Plus for my alt at the full price of $1,899 dollars. So altogether, I’ve spent $3,789 dollars for two lifetime accounts.
Did I need two lifetime accounts? Last year, I would have said yes without hesitation. I wanted to lock in my Linden Homes permanently. I do not consider myself a creator, so the free uploads were not a huge deal for me. I also do not care about being in a hundred groups. The biggest appeal for me was living rent free in my Linden Homes. That was enough to justify it at the time.
Back then, I had a lot more confidence in Second Life as a company. These days, that confidence has faded. Would I buy another lifetime subscription this year? No, I would not. If they offer it again in very limited numbers, I guess my choice to pass gives someone else a shot at it. If you want one of these, you should pay attention during the Meet the Lindens event at SL22B next week and be ready to submit your ticket fast.
Lately, I keep asking myself how long a Second Lifetime really is. I hope the answer is forever, or at least long enough to break even. We are living in unpredictable times, and Second Life could disappear at any moment. None of us want that, but at the end of the day it is a company, and companies can go under. Everyone who bought Lifetime like I did is hoping Second Life stays around long enough for us to enjoy the full value of our long lifetime subscriptions.
New Houseboats styles have landed on Bellisseria! This update brings the choices of houseboats up-to-date, which was long overdue. All the new houseboats have new colors on the outside and a new color HUD system for the walls inside.
The new Linden Homes Houseboat styles are:
Dock Holiday (my favorite, very cute)
Jolly Roger (huge, ugly floor texture on the roof)
Knot Shore (kind of cute, lots of windows)
Shore Thing (a maze on the inside, ugly over-hang on the outside)
The older houseboats styles did not get the color HUD update, which is a shame. It’s clear that the Lindens have been paying attention to what residents do to their houseboats since the updates seem to be geared toward people who like to add more floors and rooms. I’ve never liked the look of big houseboats, so I’m not looking forward to being surrounded by the Jolly Roger model.
Some of Cajsa’s dearest friends have created a tribute event to honor the memory of Cliff, her RL cat that recently passed away. We’re also having a 3-day sales event with proceeds donated to the Oregon Humane Society. You can read more about the event at Kess’ blog.
✿ cheLLe ✿ is donating 100% of the proceeds from these new Leopard Spots back tattoos, so we hope that you can come out and support a good cause, and also leave your condolences and view cute Cliff pictures 🙂
Do you see this set of adorable Kokeshi Dolls? Collect all 8 from LARK at the Xiasumi School Festival!
I may be a tiny bit biased cos I love the Gogolita doll with her sweet lil’ buns!! Buy it for your home! Tiny Gogo wants to come sit on your shelf.
I am using the pose from Ohmai’s Mochi Bunni to hold Gogolita – if you want to hold your Kokeshi doll, you can do the same by inserting a hold script+hold animation into the doll, and turning off the shadow texture.
What I’m Wearing:
