Join the TULI update group to get this Faith skin prototype in 3 skin tones!! This is Tuli's best skin yet, I really like how much more realistic it looks compared to previous versions. The group is $250L to join (if you're not already a member), right now you get this skin and a pink denim mini skirt.
I still really hate groups that I paid to join since I feel 'stuck' there. A lot of designers say that the join fee is to discourage group hoppers, and reward the 'real customers' but I feel that it rewards people with no obligations in Second Life so they have more group slots open for fun stuff like fashion or special interests. Some groups are worth the initial join fee, but there are other groups that don't send out anything at all…….. HMMMMMMM?
Flickr launched a new layout, new pricing plans, and lots of perks for free accounts! I’m a big fan of Flickr, obviously. I’ve used Flickr since June 2007, and it hosts all of my blog photos. Without Flickr, JuicyBomb would not be as awesome. I really enjoy the Second Life Flickr community, and being able to catch up on all the pretty SL photos in one place.
I’ve seen some people gripe about the layout; but I think it”s okay. Embrace change, you’ll get used to it. Being Second Life residents, we’re used to craaazy changes by now! 😀 I’ve learned to deal with drastic changes, that’s one thing that SL has taught me over the years. The new pricing plan (Ad Free, Doublr) is more expensive than before, but you don’t have to pay for it. The free account now offers much more than before, and is nearly identical to the old Pro Account perks.
Is 1 Terabyte enough storage space? Yes, probably. I have over 18,000+ photos stored in my Flickr account, but only about 8,000+ are public. The rest are photos that are unedited or photos I’ve uploaded to make collages. According to Flickr, 1TB is equal to about 500,000 photos. My account is turning 6 years old in June, and I would say that I take more photos than the average SLer, so I think that it’s safe to say, that 1TB will be just fine.
Why am I keeping my Pro Account, even though many features are now FREE? Cos there are still a few perks that are not available to everyone.
Which Features are Still Limited to Flickr Pro?
The old Flickr Pro accounts included unlimited storage space, and that means it can exceed 1TB.
Flickr Pro users also get to view counts and referrer statistics for their images. Lots of professionals often like this feature because it shows where a photo has been used or linked across the web.
Flickr Pro users can replace photos (without having to reupload), archive high-resolution original images and enjoy an ad-free experience.
Although storage and bandwidth are unlimited, they do come with a caveat. Flickr Pro users are limited to image sizes of 50MB and video sizes of 500MB. If you want to upgrade to the larger file sizes, you’ll need to convert from a Flickr Pro to a free account. (pasted from Mashable – The New Flickr: What it Means for Flickr Pro Users)
I looooove that I can replace a photo, and not lose all the favs and comments. I’m keeping my Pro Account, if I ever exceed 1TB, I can still keep the old $24.95 pricing, and not have to pay $49.99 for Doublr! Read this article (What The New Flickr Means For Free and Pro Users), they have charts posted comparing the old free account vs. new free acount.
Do you have a Pro Account on Flickr? Will you be keeping yours, or downgrading to Free? If you have a free account, how do you feel about the new perks (hopefully you love it, cos it’s awesome!).
SLink has just released two new hairstyles!! The Miranda and Marmalade hairstyles are both adorned with Hibiscus flower(s) giving them a nice tropical look. All SLink hairstyles are now modifiable, yay!
I'm wearing the super adorable Raine skin from Pink Fuel with runny mascara. This skin makes crying look good!! 🙂
Mimikri has just released the Moo dress in a bunch of yummy Spring colors! I immediately fell in love with the teal & pink, knowing that it would look really well with Gala's latest skins. Gorgeous stuffffffffff. Here is the Moo dress in Teal and Pink!
The 'Moo' dress includes two skirt options: a pencil skirt and a flower skirt (all prim!). Both ways are gorgeous, but I like the flower skirt more because it's so girlie and pretty.
I am loving the new Gala skins sooo much, you're going to see it back to back more than a few times from now on this blog 😀 It's no secret I wear Gala quite often because the skins are beautiful and I love face and everything about it.
Even though many brands in Second Life create amazing products, the way they treat customers can leave a sour taste in your mouth. When that happens, it makes you think twice about spending money with them again.
I’ve encountered more than a few brands I’ve supported that ignore simple customer service issues, like refunding a double purchase or answering a basic question. I’m sure most of us have experienced being completely ignored by a store owner or customer service rep. Some people know how to create great things in Second Life, but they never learn how to build loyalty.
On the other hand, the brands that go out of their way to be kind and helpful earn my support for years.
One example is Everfaery. Every time I’ve had a question or needed help, they’ve responded in a way that was even nicer than expected. Honestly, the fact that they respond at all already puts them ahead of many brands. Recently, I asked a question on Flickr and got a quick reply. That reminded me they also give L$50 monthly store credit to group members. On top of that, creator Fever Fae is incredibly talented, making clothing, hair, shoes, décor, and more. She has range, and she’s had staying power in SL for years.
Another brand that consistently treats customers well is Izzie’s. I’ve said it before, but it’s true. A few days ago, I saw their Nail Beds set and thought, “I didn’t even know I needed that.” Now I can’t imagine not having it. It adds another layer of realism, and I appreciate creators who think of those details. Plus, Izzie Button has always come across as genuinely kind.
Then there’s Truth. Creator Truth Hawks regularly gives gifts to the VIP group and runs solid sales throughout the year. I’ve also been a Truth hair blogger for years, and their relationship with bloggers has always seemed professional and respectful. That kind of relationship-building is one reason some brands last so long in Second Life.
My list of brands doing it right is actually pretty long. There are many wonderful creators in SL. But when a brand ghosts me after I’ve supported them, I remember it. I’m too classy to name names, but you know the type. We’ve all encountered them.
There’s one brand where I used to buy every fatpack. Now? Maybe I’ll grab a single item during a weekend sale and spend the equivalent of a real-life quarter. Why reward bad customer service with full-price loyalty?
At the end of the day, customer service matters. Talent may get people through the door, but kindness and reliability keep them coming back.
If there are any brands you love that treat customers right, let me know in the comments!
Four new hairstyles from Exile! My favorite style is Nymph cos it’s so much like Barbie’s hair, and the bangs are perfect. Steph has a color-changeable hair bow that can be turned off (I have it turned off in the picture above).
Have you been to the Hotel Dare on the ministry of media sim? Recently launched shopping/artsy area with tons of things to see, do and BUY!! This is the place to go broke, there are tons of really awesome shops here.
Mijn Boa’s place
My shop, I’m next to Cream Shop! <3
Bright happy lil signs
Those are my sexy shoes stomping through the small city.
Told you this place is cute! TP to Hotel Dare now.
This hair was a freebie from one of the DOCOMO hunts several months ago!! It’s no longer available, not even for sale 🙁 I feel terrible about that, because I don’t like to blog what people can’t purchase right now. It happens though! Sorry guys. Keep an eye out on DOCOMO events… and freebies around the grid, sometimes there are real gems!
I completely feel the same about groups you must pay to join and then never receive anything.
On the flipside though, creators like that are right up there with creators who use charity fairs for profit and sell only one small item where only a fraction of it goes to charity.
When its obvious you don’t care about your fanbase or the charity, I’m going to be a lot less likely to purchase anything in the future – there are enough content creators in SL that I don’t need your store on my list.
Great looking skin but does anyone know where the hair is from the the model is wearing?
Beautiful skin, but the hair… OMG!!!is perfect!!!! Where to find?
