SL14B is here again! There are tons of sims open to celebrate Second Life’s 14th birthday. This year, I’ve put together a silly exhibit about Second Life if it took place in the Middle Ages.
As you can tell by this picture, I really tried for some of that sweet Monty Python humor. You can grab this art for free, plus other cool art, at the exhibit here.
Just when I think Second Life content can’t possibly get any better, it does get better, and that is the most exciting thing about being a consumer. This is the first time that I’ve seen bento animated hair, and I’m already craving more! I’ve seen animated hair from other brands, but I don’t know if they were bento or some other scripted method. Exile just released a few bento hairstyles, add them to your must have list! Watch the videos (Palace & Over the Edge) to see the animations! The hairstyles are even more stunning in-world cos the animations are so smooth.
How darling is this Vintage Blouse from ANE? I love the front of this blouse, it’s pleated and very pretty. Then I turned around, and I love the back even more! Vintage with a twist!

The weekend’s here, and I’m not feeling anything other than getting ready to hit the beach irl tomorrow. Last week I was in search of a well done urban based sim for the above photo of Ms. Elle. Even in my SL past, urban sims could be seriously hit and miss and were often not updated. Honestly I had absolutely no idea where to even start when I began this endeavor but I had an idea in my head for this photo that I wasn’t willing to let go. To remedy this, I went directly to my beloved Explore Second Life group on Flickr to find a spot that might work for me. One of the few urban sims that popped up after searching a few pages was one called Sexy Cat. Yeah I know…I should have gotten a hint from the sim name but it seemed “clean” in the photos and well done therefore I thought to myself – Mission Accomplished!
Any who, I popped on over and found the sim to be relatively uninhabited – the only other avi on the sim had a profile description that more or less said “Second Life Explorer”. So I sent Elle on a nice leisurely stroll in search of that perfect photo spot – something that would make this outfit definitely stand out. As Elle made her way around the place, I went through a mental check list in my head: Nice urban grunge feel (check), Bodega like stores (check), nice use of colors (check) and once the spot was found I was definitely ready to Rock and Roll!
Well midway through my photo taking a shadow appears on my screen and it stays there for a good long while. Of course in my head I am thinking “Dude, I am standing here not moving, looking like a dumb ass so….GET OUTTA THE WAY!” Then the familiar “ding, ding” happens and I get this IM from the male resident:

(Okay now…wait for it…wait for it – the important question suddenly jumps into my brain. After a brief pause I type the words……)

And then he continues on on his way leaving me to my work. Well you can’t blame the guy for trying, but unfortunately for him I was not his target audience! It was definitely a case of right place, wrong girl for this gentleman. At this point I am laughing at myself in real life for my total reborn noob mistake! Anyway Mr. Redacted Name Resident, I hope you found what you were looking for that day! Because regardless of anyone’s reason for being in Second Life, as long as you can legally buy cigarettes in the US and it involves others who can legally buy cigarettes as well (AND are on the same page as you), you are definitely entitled to live out your dreams in Second Life, whatever they may be! Rock on with your ePeens friends, just avoid the Blingis if you can!

One of my favorite pastimes in Second Life is exploring Sims and the art installations throughout the grid. Since I am basically a noob these days, I have started to rely on flickr groups for places to explore. One of these groups is the Explore Second Life group that has a wealth of photos for me to draw from for locations and inspiration. One of these sims I came across in the group pool as Rosemoor; and since I was in the mood for another wintry photo from what I saw at Rosemoor this was just the place I was looking for.
My only issue with this photo is in my opinion, Elle is a bit under dressed. Honestly, in real life, if there was snow on the ground like this, I would have my happy ass in a big ole jacket! But this is a fantasy world and all so I can’t be too picky! Perhaps she has on an invisible jacket? YES that’s it – an invisible jacket, friends, which keeps her warm like nobody’s business! On a side note, I almost took this photo with demo skin on too – whoops! Noob, I tell ya….I am one big noob now!

I am a huge fan of the Dystopian Genre and the game Fallout 4 is one of the few single player games I actually play. When I took this photo, for some reason Fallout 4 popped into my head when I looked at it again in Photoshop so I just rolled with it! The editing was minor though, just cropping and a simple “action” I came across a few years back which mainly just softens to look of the picture. Most of what you see though is pretty much Second Life at it’s finest – a gorgeous Windlight setting developed by Neva Xenga for her Neva Estates group of sims and the sim “junk” developed by Tab Tatham.
Sims like junk are what keep me wanting to take photographs in Second Life. For me, often my SL photography process is I first find the sim or setting that inspires me, then look for an outfit, along with the right pose, that will work with the surroundings. Sounds simple enough – although it can days for me to complete the image that I like enough to upload. By the way, since I am a returnee to Second Life, please let me know of sims, stores and pose shops I should be checking out.
Anywho, that is all I have to say for the moment but I shall return soon! So in the meantime – take care my friends and have a great Second Life!

I’ve been shambling all over SL in this skeleton avatar! A free gift from Linden Labs, you can grab this skeleton at the Portal Park. I recommend pairing it with RC Cluster’s new Zombie AO. It’ll give it a perfectly creepy effect.
Right now I’ve got two things for you. The first is this mask set I made for Halloween–grab this at my mainstore or on marketplace. These masks are hand-painted and very fun, and are only 100L for the pack.

Next up–Burn2 is back! A digital version of the Burning Man festival, it’s a big art party that lasts a week and is full of fantastic exhibits. And guess what? You can get a free campsite there too. Mine is located here if you want to visit.

It’s October! You know what that means, right? Halloween, pumpkins, and coffee made with pumpkin puree that might have squash mixed into it. (Pumpkin and squash are in the same family, so…yep.)
It’s my personal theory that squash is being mixed in Starbucks’ pumpkin spice lattes. But because they technically wouldn’t be lying by saying their drinks are made with 100% pumpkin, squash can definitely get in there if it means saving their company tons of cash. Besides–you’re drinking a vegetable in the latte anyway. It still tastes awesome. I’d still use pumpkin puree in my pies even after knowing what the puree is made of.
Would you drink pumpkin spice lattes if it were true that some squash were found in the drink?
