Reflections

Hello from Aurelias! I just want to thank all of the visitors for your sweet comments about the region and for submitting your photos to the Aurelias Flickr group. There’s a rush in Second Life to immediately go from Christmas/Winter to Spring. We’re taking our time on Aurelias and thawing out slowly! We already planning for Spring, but I just love the snow so much that it’s going to linger through March.

Aurelias, Charming Town

Aurelias

Visit Aurelias – we’re open!

I want to express my gratitude to Sparkle, my friend and region developer, for bringing this pixel dream to life. Aurelias is the result of a collaboration of ideas and friendship, and I’m overjoyed to be able to share it with you all. This region was opened during the winter and will gradually thaw out in the spring. Our fondness for the seasons and precipitation sets Aurelias apart from other places.

Bumble Bee Cafe

Bumble Bee Cafe

Hello from the Bumble Bee Cafe on Aurelias! I’m wearing my favorite outfit of this season, the Neve fluffy hoodie from Lunar. This fluffy hoodie texture is excellent, I’m so impressed with the texturing and the HUD. Lunar is a brand to add to your wardrobe, they have lots of sweet and sexy offerings.

There’s no better way to kick off the Christmas season than gifts from your favorite brands. LeLutka is giving away two free mesh heads, for females and males, so no one is left out! This is how LeLutka, who is already the number one brand, annihilates their competition and leaves them in the dust. They’ve perfected brand dominance through mass adoption, by ensuring that their product is accessible and FREE to the entire user base. This move is so unexpected for a brand that has no competition, and now the user base is even more loyal, and other third-party creators have no choice but to prioritize creating for their products. I guess this is now a new annual tradition!

New LeLutka EvoX Head; Halle

New LeLutka EvoX Head; Halle

Could this be the new me? Every time LeLutka drops a new mesh head, I hope that it’s one I can stick to, cos I love change. I feel more flexible when I can make many different versions of myself, to go with any skin. My favorite head right now is the Avalon head, but I’ve worn that for a while now and I think I’m ready for a change. The last mesh head release, Gaia, was a bit too youthful for me, but I still thought that the head shape was very pretty. I probably could have made it work, with a few more shape tweaks.

The Rise & Fall of Gachas

The Rise & Fall of Gachas

It’s official – Second Life has banned gachas! I expected under the new regime leadership, this policy and many others will follow to clean up the grid and be in compliance with governmental regulations.

While I occasionally played a gacha machine here and there, I’m mostly a beneficiary of the extras from friends. Gacha was fun when it was cheap, but over the years, pull prices have doubled, and the chances of a rare nearly impossible. But I do realize the reason why people play – cos it’s cheap, random, and fun, unless you had terrible luck! If you can score the rare after one or two pulls, you felt like you were winning. I asked my friend Sparkle, aka the Gacha Queen, her thoughts on this policy change.

Meet Mini Gogo

Mini Gogo

Say hello to mini Gogo!

My friend Sparkle and I decided to make mini versions of ourselves. To successfully do this, we had to research everything about making child avatars in Second Life. I came across this Baby Avatar Customization – How to Make a Second Life Baby by MeelaVanderbuilt, which is both entertaining and informative. There are some good tips here, if you want to make a mini of your own. I also followed the Second Life Kid Bloggers group on Flickr for some shopping ideas.
