Cake has just released the Bella skins in a lot of different skin tones. Each skin tone is named after a different city around the world. I chose Sao Paulo because I liked the tanned skin, just to wear something different from my normal Light/Pale look. Each skin tone has 16 different makeups to choose from, or you can buy the whole fatpack and have them all 🙂

Senra Update

Last year, when I first tried on the Senra Jamie avatar, my impression was far from positive. It seemed like a regression, a relic not up to par with the advances in Second Life. Despite claims from the Senra defenders that these models aren’t trying to outshine the mesh avatars from Second Life’s creators, or that they are perfectly adequate for newbies, I wasn’t convinced. Surely, new residents are entitled the very best that Second Life has to offer.

Unaware that these avatars were still in their beta phase, I didn’t anticipate further improvements. However, with the announcement of a recent update to Senra, they piqued my interest enough to take a second look.

Slipping into the updated version of the Senra Jamie mesh head with last year’s shape, I noticed some changes. The mesh had a subtle overhaul—still not stunning, akin to sculpting a water balloon, but Jamie now looked marginally improved. The texture of the skin remains a low point, though; until the best skin designers on Second Life step in to upgrade Jamie, she’s doomed to be somewhat of a featureless form.

PFFIOU! Poses

Everybody loves poses!! Here's five fun ones I found at the PFFIOU pose shop by Laleeta Xue, and they are only $20L each! I know, a total bargain considering I didn't have to make these myself and they look really cute. I have a bunch of normal 'stands' so it's really refreshing when I see these 'movement' type poses because they come in handy for more expressive photos.

Glam Affair – Castalia Skin

Glam Affair – Castalia (Light | Natural | Medium Tan)

I tried the new Glam Affair Castalia skin this past weekend and to my surprise, I really liked the Medium Tan skin tone more than the Light and Natural, which is what I would normally wear. I thought Light tone was way too pale, better suited for an RP skin (like Vampire or Goth), so I tried on the Natural tone, and still, that wasn’t really my favorite. I didn’t like the way it photographed because the tone seemed ashy with my preferred Windlight settings. However, when I tried on the Medium Tan, I liked the skin a lot more because it was warmer and really suits the dark brows.

The Castalia skins comes with 12 makeups and public hair layers (something I never use, but I suppose it’s useful….):

The lipsticks are really nice on these, I kind of wish they were on tattoo layers so I can borrow some of the lipsticks for my other skins. What I didn’t like was the shadow on the lower lip. You can’t really see it too well on my pictures but in-world the shadow is very noticeable and dark. Also the highlight on the upper lip is too sharp so it looks pixelated. Am I took picky? I do notice these things even if others seem to ‘not care’ as much.

Overall, I think that this skin is better suited for Brunette hair colors, especially if you like a warmer tan tone.

Koenji, Shimokitazawa, Metabirds, Ginza………etc., is an amazing cluster of Japanese sims. If you don’t know it, familiarize yourself because these sims are an architectural wonder AND shopping haven.

Hey guys! I’m in a bikini mood today, so I wore the ultra sexy Ellio Bikini from BOOM. This bikini has the best cleavage, even though it’s not mesh, it comes with sculpted prim bikini ties! I’m also wearing the newest Aussie Thongs from SLink (they’re unisex) — and they work with SLink’s mesh feet. I don’t want to take my mesh feet off, ever!

Warning: Even if you find a spot to stand at the edge of the sim, some newbs/residents will find you (in my case, 3) and just stand riiiight behind you, so you can’t take pictures for 20 minutes (minimum).
