I have many friends who choose to play an avatar that’s the opposite of their gender IRL. However, NONE of them carry out romantic relationships without informing their SL partner first, of their RL gender. I think that’s the best way to be, even if your partner is infatuated with your SL pixels, they deserve to know. Let them decide if they want to carry on the relationship, don’t decide for them. Truth is best, don’t you think?

I first stumbled upon Al Vulo last year, when I saw their skins on the SL Marketplace, but it didn’t impress me enough to want to blog them. Recently, I gave Al Vulo another try, and I’m blown away by the progress, and the adorable face. Here’s a secret for SL skin designers – as a customer, if I’m in love with your skin’s face, I will buy it. Having both a fantastic body and a gorgeous face is a winning combination, but many SL residents will simply “love” a skin for its face.

I photographed this skin with Depth of Field turned on, but I made sure to focus on the face so you guys can see it nice and clear. As you can see from the image above, the difference is very subtle and the only area that is blurred is the hair, and some of the neck area.
I confess, I’m addicted to DoF now, so if there’s any ‘blur’ it’s probably due to my using DoF and not the skin itself.
I’m wearing the Elena skin, in Sunkissed tone. I tried both Pale and Sunkissed, and decided that Sunkissed was much warmer and better for photographing. I thought the Pale tone was too pale, though it is lovely, I am not usually that pale in SL, so I went for the darker Sunkissed tone instead. I do think this skin needs a “Light” tone option, something that’s between Pale and Sunkissed, cos that’s typically “my” tone of choice as it works with both light and dark hair colors.
Like I said at the beginning of my post, a gorgeous face sells. This skin is gorgeous, the body could use some improvements — but it’s not bad! Each skin pack comes with 6 makeups (2 versions of each, so really, 12 total), hair base, natural and cleavage versions too.

Hair Fair is open! From July 1st-16th, a percentage of every hair that you buy at the event will benefit the Wigs for Kids organization. I look forward to Hair Fair annually, cos I have so many fond memories of shopping here through the years.

When I went to the preview last night, this post was not up yet, which is actually a good thing cos I got to see all the booths and discover some new-to-me brands. I recommend going to the sims and buying the demos that you want to try directly, instead of relying on the Hair Fair Demo group cos that can get overwhelming.
I’m so impressed that hair designers got together and brought their best efforts to this event. In addition to bento hair, I’ve discovered that a handful of brands are now offering Style options, often built into the texture HUD or as a separate HUD.

Surf Couture had a pretty big release recently!! I love these new romantic and flowy Sway Sundresses, and matching Spring Fling Wedges. They’re super easy to mix-and-match cos the colors complement each other so well.
I’m especially happy that the Sway Sundresses has not one, but THREE attachments for the skirt, ensuring that no matter which way you move, your leg does not poke through the sculpted prim skirt. The skirt includes a large Skirt Base prim, and two smaller Skirt Leg prims, this is genius!
To complete my look, I paired the Sway Sundress with Surf Couture’s new Brass Rings Leather Belts. The belt has great textures and fits pretty well, I did not have to resize at all, yay.

My photos are taken at Emvee Cuba. I thought this sim was for sale and disappearing from the grid soon, but when I was there today snapping photographs, I noticed that the “for sale” signs have been removed. Did they get a new buyer already or are they planning on staying? Either way, check out this place before it’s gone (or if you haven’t been!).
What’s really sad is know-it-all bitches who “think” they know someone’s gender and go out of their way to ruin someones reputation. Pathetic really! Perhaps they are man in real life?

This happened to me. I met someone on SL that was the same SL gender as myself, a woman. I developed very strong feelings for her in RL. The problem is that I am not a lesbian. I kept trying to figure out how I was going to tell my parents I loved a woman. She finally told me she was a he in RL. That he only played a woman on SL because shopping and dressing for men was so boring. I am happy to say that I am now living with him in RL and couldn’t be happier! Never had to tell my parents that I was a lesbian!! YIPPEE!!!
This is a sensitive issue, and one where I can’t honestly pick any of the options. It depends on the situation- some people really strive to separate SL from RL, and therefore, RL sex/gender doesn’t necessarily have a place in their interactions. Some people use SL as a chance to get in touch with their ‘real’ selves, as they cannot afford expensive operations and/or the judgement of society for making such a decision. There’s also the factor of how “deep” the romantic relationship is- is it confined to SL? What about storyline-roleplay versus casual interaction? Are both partners able to separate SL from RL?
Personally, I think the matter of how the person views romantic/intimate relationships and what their status is in RL may matter more than what bits and pieces their RL body may have.
On Sundays, I’m male, Mon = female, Tue = Rabid Furry, Wed= Robot, Thur= Tiny Kangaroo, Fri= vapor cloud, Sat= mystery avi. Friends are friends no matter what and people I have a deeper connection can be what ever they want to be. 🙂
I’ve had friends playing female avatars do MASSIVE build ups to telling me they are male in RL, like it was some huge secret they just couldn’t let go of only to be like “Okay. No biggie” once they get it out. The way I see it is you love the person, not their gender. That applies to friends, lovers, partners and anything in between in SL. My current partner is female in avatar and real life (I never actually asked, but she DJs and uses voice when she does), and we have been together for a year and a bit, but if she told me tomorrow “oh wait, I’m a guy” I wouldn’t love her even one less bit… because its her I love, her sense of humor, her intelligence, her caring. Thats my take on it.

Honestly, it doesn’t matter what their gender in RL is, what does count is how they behave and treat others. If their presence in SL consists of bullying, hate-harvesting, drama-whoring, and/or stupid-infesting who cares what they got in between their legs? They still got turd for brains.
So boy, girl, asexual, amoeba, turtle, it’s all okay to me as long as they got an OK personality.

I think when you have feelings for someone & they have feelings for you want to know definitely tell or you are just a jerk playing with your “love”ed ones feelings.
