Isabeal Jupiter asked me to submit a head shot for her blog project showcasing beautiful avatars around SL. Normally I’m too lazy to participate in anything, but I actually did this!!
Normally I would have used LeLutka skin, cos that’s what my avatar wears a lot but I felt like wearing Laqroki’s Pearl skin today. I feel like my avatar is not defined by a single skin. At any given moment, I am obsessed with several skins at once.
This is one of the many incomplete home decor projects I’m working on at my sim. So far I’ve only furnished one side of the home, but I really like it!
Where to Shop:
[SPRY] – all my days country home La’Licious – Beach Cottage Collection MudHoney – Branch Lamp Winter (part of Winter Livingroom set)
The only thing on my calendar this weekend is the Spoonful of Sugar Festival. This event raises money for MSF/Doctors Without Borders, and I always admire the designers who donate their time to causes in Second Life, especially the smaller or lesser-known charities. Every year I look forward to SOS because some of my favorite creators are part of it.
This year it feels like a lot of people might be skipping the festival. The Seraphim mention didn’t include a gallery, and even SOS’s own website doesn’t have one. That made shopping a little tricky, but I went straight to the brands I love such as Izzie’s and Alaskametro and found some great things. There’s even a gacha area if that’s your thing.
Pro tip: Keep an eye out for a bowl of sugar if you want to grab some L$20 bargains from participating brands.
Izzie’s – Age Yourself (BoM Layers) – Left: Bare skin | Right: With face wrinkles added
One of the highlights for me was Izzie’s new Age Yourself set. Wrinkles and aging looks seem to be getting more popular in Second Life, and honestly, she’s scary good at transforming skins. The set comes in 50%, 70%, and 100% opacity layers so you can blend the wrinkles with your current skin.
I also picked up the new Soft Brows from Alaskametro. I never use the brows that come with a skin, so I’m always hunting for new ones. These are the perfect thickness, and they looked great when I tried them on. The only thing I wish is that they came with a HUD so I could play around with the opacity. I like layering BoM brows under LeLutka HD brows. On the left you can see the light colored brows, and on the right the tinted ones. You lose a bit of detail when tinting, but it’s fabulous that the option is included so you can get the exact shade you want.
Check out the SOS Festival, show your favorite brands some love, and support a good cause while you shop.
Last year, AM Radio gave away this Xmas Tree to visitors @ The Quiet. I had so much fun decorating it!! I didn’t even know that this exhibit is still around, but I saw it on Lili’s blog — so you guys can still go grab it. This year’s tree also includes the wearable Pine and an Axe.
When I have more time, I will dig out my Xmas decors and decorate the tree. Isn’t it sweet? Totally amazing for a freebie.
You guys should visit the Home & Garden section of Lili’s Blog to view some more fantastic items for your home all year round.
Nails are all the rage! ✿ cheLLe ✿ is excited to add nails to our makeup & cosmetics line, and we look forward to releasing even more fabulous nails! The first release is includes Glitter and Pointed nails.
This is an Add-on product and does not include the SLink Avatar Enhancement mesh hands or feet. You can purchase them from SLink (by Siddean Munro).
What makes this change difficult for me to accept is that the core benefits haven’t really changed. The stipend is the same. The land allowance is the same. While there are some additional perks and gifts being added, they’re not benefits that I personally value enough to justify paying more each year.
Whenever a company raises prices, I take a look at my spending and decide what’s still worth keeping. That’s exactly what I’m doing now. Over the years, I’ve accumulated several Premium accounts, mostly to hold extra Linden Homes. After thinking about it, I’ve decided I don’t really need all of them. I’ll be keeping the two accounts that I previously upgraded to Lifetime Premium Plus, but the extra accounts are becoming much harder to justify.
The same goes for land. I’ve acquired quite a bit of mainland recently, and this price increase has me reevaluating how much I actually need versus how much I’ve simply gotten used to having.
One thing about me is that I’m usually willing to spend money on Second Life. I enjoy supporting the platform, and I’ve never been afraid to invest in the things I love. But I also believe it’s important to periodically review our subscriptions and spending habits, especially when prices go up.
If you’re maintaining multiple Premium accounts, now might be a good time to ask yourself whether you’re getting enough value from each one. Do you really need that extra Linden Home? Do you use all of the benefits you’re paying for? Maybe the answer is yes. For me, the answer was no.
At the end of the day, every resident has to decide what makes sense for their own budget. My decision is to scale back a little. Not because I’m leaving Second Life or because I suddenly dislike the platform, but because I don’t think every account I currently pay for is worth the new price.
Sometimes the most effective feedback we can give isn’t posting on the forums or arguing on social media. It’s simply reevaluating our subscriptions and spending accordingly.
Brighten up your Tuesday with some new releases from Elate, Glow and AtomicBambi!
These adorable Joy dresses from Elate comes in various colors & they're just so easy to wear. I like them with flip-flops for an ultra comfy look.
Glow Studio released some nature-themed earrrings if you're looking for something to acessorize your outfit. I love jewelry inspired by nature or using natural materials, it feels better for the environment.. even though that really doesn't apply in SL 😀
Last but not least…
Atomic will be releasing these Baily skins soon. I think this new face is something to look forward to, I like it a lot more than the previously released skins. The nude lipstick is especially worth the $250L I paid to re-join the Atomic VIP group in-world. If you're digging these, pay the fee (unless you're already a member) because gift makeups are not sold in store later.
Oh yeah, I love my AtomicBambi headband!! These are scripted to change colors on the headband and the flowers. It's a dozen headbands rolled into one, for the price of one 🙂
What I'm Wearing:
Atomic Skin – Baily_Honey (VIP Gift 2) Truth – Belinda (mocha) Truth – Tanya (mocha) Elate – Joy Dress (Ice, Blush, Mint) AtomicBambi Headband – Geneva Glow – Pure Shellfish, Sparrow Earrings Glow – Round Mosiac Earrings Glow – Folk Green Glow – Folk Blue Moon Earrings Glow – Folk Forest Earrings
SLink – Jolie Pied Flat Bare Sheila Thongs (comin soon)
Hello, such a beautiful picture 🙂 The clothes, hair and skin together looks so magic. It made me think though, if you take a photo, for instance this one, do you own the copyright to it then? Even though the skin, hair, eyes, clothes etc. aren’t yours? Or is it like in RL, that you can photo a person in the city or a building and still own the copyright to the photo even though you didn’t make that person nor built the house 😉
Also, I was wondering how to go about submitting a photo as well. I took a look at her blog but couldn’t find any contact information (granted my web browser was refusing to load half of the site). Thanks in advance 😀
I tried to contact Isabeal but she had no idea what i was talking about when i aksed her how and where to upload the pixs..after a not very nice answer from her I decided not to participate lol *i wihs people were more polite and less moody lol*
