Yabusaka Mesh Head Studio

Yabusaka Mesh Head Studio

Can you tell what kind of mesh head I’m wearing? It’s kind of borderline, isn’t it? If you see me walking around a sim, you might think I’m just very good at shape-making at first glance. But if you see my profile…ah! I’m wearing a mesh head after all. No flat Second Life face, no weird nose, a fully developed mouth instead of two weird-looking bumps.

I’m an artist with not a lot of time or patience to dedicate to 3D programs like Makehuman or Blender. So when Gogo recommended Yabusaka Loon’s mesh head program to me, I hopped on the chance to try it out. Continue reading

12 Days of Makeup

[ a.e.meth ] - Velvet Lipstick (Brights Pack)[ a.e.meth ] - Velvet Lipstick (Dark Pack)
[ a.e.meth ] - Velvet Lipstick (Fantasy Pack)

Listen, I didn’t get invited to take part of that cool sale on Marketplace with special vendors, and you probably didn’t either. I don’t care. I can make my own sale, you know? Bring the chips and salsa to my own party.

So what do I have? TWELVE DAYS OF MAKEUP.

I put makeup on sale, every single frikkin’ day, for twelve days, and each day that makeup’s 50L. That’s it. BAM isn’t that amazing? Since I started this a little late, these three packs of makeup are on sale for 50L each for both Friday AND Saturday, and plus there’ll be one more makeup pack on sale tomorrow.

I will announce each pack of makeup on Juicybomb until the sale is done. When a makeup goes on sale, grab it then, because there’s only one sale per day! Early bird gets the worm.

All makeup will contain Omega appliers and system tattoos. Good for those of you who just bought those Logo heads, right? Right!

TP to my mainstore to grab the first three packs of makeup. Happy shopping!

Failure

Failure

“What failure? Where?” you ask, because the title of this post is certainly intriguing, isn’t it? There’s no failure in this picture. But ah, that’s where I’ve got you. It’s on my face. Look closer.

You probably recognize it–a style of skins I’ve attempted before. I released three in the past, plus one mesh head that didn’t sell too well. Would you like to know something else? There were seven more skin attempts I went through that never saw the light of day. I never showed anyone anything because I was afraid of people laughing at me.

I worked on this one after creating an amalgamation of my failure skins together, blending each face until a new one appeared from the combined Photoshop layers. I kept working on them, and then put them on several different mesh heads to see what spots on the face needed improvement and what didn’t. When I was done, I showed my friends. And many of them liked it! I was shocked because–all that failure. All that failure. What made the “no” finally turn into a “yes”?

Passing that threshold for a lot of people also means crossing a line of fear. You are not used to “yes”. You’re used to “no”, “stop”, “wait just a little longer”, which after a while you accept future notions of rejection and stop putting in so much effort. You accept yourself as less-than, you stop reaching so high. When a “yes” finally appears, it becomes you that is hesitant. What if you proceed only to find another “no” somewhere down the line? What if someone doesn’t like the idea of you doing well and tries to make that happen for you?

If you think I might be using the progress of creating a skin as a larger metaphor, you’re right. I might even be talking about another area of my life right now, a parallel story in rl that I may never tell you.

Life is full of secret skin failures. Each one held a lesson for me in what mistakes I made in the past. And I think it’s funny that by combining them, I created a skin that works. Maybe not everyone would like it, but certainly a lot more than in the past. And that’s a good enough starting point for me. I can build from there.

You can, too, with whatever you’re doing. Sort through those failures. Collate them and think about what lesson each one held. There’s a “yes” if you combine them. It’s all in the arrangement.

The Volcano

The Volcano

Just some moody shots as we approach Halloween! Are you already going to Halloween parties in RL or SL? I haven’t yet, but I have decorated my house with lots of pumpkins and string lights! I also think I might attend the official Creepy Crawl on Friday.

From 10-3pm on October 30th, users across the grid will visit selected haunted spots in Second Life while dressed in costume. So far the official haunt list isn’t up yet, but I’m sure it will be by the time the event starts! For more information about the Creepy Crawl, contact Xiola Linden.

I’m wearing the new Verve skin applier with my Logo head today! I’ll take a better shot for my next blog, but I wanted to show it off now because it’s so gorgeous. I love how there are several shades of red lipstick included in the applier package for me to pick from! You can buy the new skin and appliers here. For those of you with Catwa heads, yes, Verve has made appliers for that too!

Pink Fuel And Logo

Pink Fuel and Logo

The new Pink Fuel appliers for the Logo Alex head are out! I was so excited to get these and try them on the mesh head I purchased for myself. You’ve definitely seen the Logo mesh heads on Juicybomb before, because Gogo reviewed them here, here, and here.

“Can this Pink Fuel applier work for other mesh heads, such as the Catwa and Chloe heads?” The answer from Mochi is yes, but since they aren’t intended for those heads, you need to demo the applier first. You can do that here.

What would I like to see from Logo in the future for their mesh heads? Well, with the Kemono mesh avatar, you can apply different textures to the eyes and eyebrows, so that’s definitely one thing I’d like to see. Cosmetic applier layers are another. If all of that were Omega-friendly, I think it would be the best mesh head out there. The expressions are fantastic, as Gogo has mentioned in her review, and you can customize it so well that you won’t look like anyone else.

Pink Fuel and Logo

I’m taking some inspiration in terms of style from my friend Jaqualine, who shoots beautiful vintage photos and always looks perfectly put-together. This hair I’m wearing is from Murray, which I originally recommended Jaqualine pick up… but I’m totally wearing it for myself today! I feel like a young Anna-Nicole!

SO. It’s October, and it’s high season for some scary movies. Because of this, I opened up a little movie theatre on my store parcel for people to watch old Troma films. If you are familiar with Troma Entertainment, they’ve got a slew of movies you can watch for free on Youtube. This week, I have Class of Nuke’Em High streaming at the theatre, so take your friends and enjoy some popcorn on me!

Hold a pizza party this weekend!

Hey guys! Cake here, with some news about Chelle and some products you might be interested in! Consider this your update from the designers’ desk.

First up, I’m back to making more things in SL, and have two great products you’ll enjoy, especially this holiday weekend:

[ a.e.meth ] - Pepperoni Pizza Server

Who doesn’t love pizza? Now you can carry around pizza boxes in stacks of 2, 4, and 8! You can also rez these for as little land impact as 2. It’s a great prop for bar owners, party throwers, and roleplayers!

Know what else goes great with pizza?

[ a.e.meth ] - Beer Serving Tray

Beer serving tray! I wanted this to fit in with multiple sims, so I gave the tray a brushed metal look. You can wear or rez this, and it will distribute tankards if anyone clicks on it.

Last item, is this awesome wearable campfire:

[ a.e.meth ] - Wearable Campfire

Simply ‘add’ the campfire to yourself, and you’ll sit next to a nice, modest fire. It comes with extra chairs so if your friends have a campfire, you can sit with theirs instead of sitting on the ground.

Now for Chelle news: Gogo and I collaborate on Chelle, and I’ve been examining the mesh heads that have come out lately. I’d like to tackle Lelutka first to create makeup for their heads. So, if you have one, please look forward to it! I’ll still continue to make regular tat layers as well.

That’s all for now! Have a great weekend, everyone!
