AnacondaS Wave Dancer

AnacondaS Wave Dancer Boat

The Wave Dancer. Get that free demo, yo.

When Second Life gets a bit stressful, it’s time to put down the obligations and do something fun. My suggestion? Get out on the water. Grab a free boat, visit the Blake Sea, and start sailing. Whether you do so with a motorboat like the Magellan, or a sailboat like the Fernseed Keelboat, you’re sure to calm down after listening to the sounds of the pixel ocean for a while. (Don’t forget to grab this free swim HUD too.)

After a while, you might get tired of free boats and want something a bit nicer. If you have the Lindens to spend, take a look at the AnacondaS Wave Dancer.

It’s amazing how spacious the Wave Dancer is inside. You won’t need to adjust your camera unless you prefer driving in mouselook or third-person. It also comes with a full working kitchen, bathroom/shower, cabin/bed, and dining area. There’s a media player just behind the driver’s seat for if you want to play videos while you’re out boating. The dashboard holds a fuel gage, working GPS system, and radar. Even the microwave works, which I found to be charming.

You can seat 14 people on it–great for parties or running a tour around the Blake Sea or other body of SL water. The boat turns a little too fast for my tastes in the water, but that’s because it’s meant for driving primarily in mouselook. If you’re using an Oculus with this boat, however, you’re in for a pretty great time.

The drawbacks of it are small but ultimately decided why I didn’t buy it yet. For everything the Wave Dancer has, the one thing it doesn’t is a multi-sit system. For 2900L, this is something I’m hoping the builder will fix.

You see, when you’re out boating, you need to be able to move around your boat without standing up. If your boat doesn’t have a system where you can click and choose various poses on the craft, you’re going to inevitably have to stand up–which might cause your boat to be returned while you’re in the middle of the sea. Multi-seating systems solve this problem while letting you “live” on your boat. Some boats like the A-T Portal Tug even have a roaming system that lets you walk around the boat without ever getting out of your seat.

I’ve sent a request to the Wave Dancer’s builder to see if they’re interested in implementing a multi-seating system. If they do it, I’m snatching up this boat as soon as I can.

I still highly recommend you trying out the Wave Dancer, though. The demo will let you drive the boat for up to two hours. It only counts the minutes the boat is actually in the water! It’s great for letting boaters decide if they’d like to purchase it or not.

If you know of a boat I should check out, contact me in-grid (Aemeth Lysette). For more destinations, check out the SL Sailing directory. See you on the water!

We <3 RP is back, and would you look at this awesome hat I’m wearing? This is  what I’ve always wanted in SL. This hat is from !Go, who’s been making items for WHRP for some time. The fabric is exquisite and there’s a hat-less version for the accompanying hair, too.

Just Like A Cartoon

Like Tom and Jerry

Hi everyone!

So today I wanted to show off some Arcade previews, when I assembled everything and realized… oh! I’ve got sort of a Looney Tunes vibe going on. You can see what I mean by looking at this picture.

Featured in this photo are two brands: RC Cluster, who makes my favorite humor items ever, and Zerkalo, who’s really good at creating lacy/vintage things. The gloves and mannequin are from Zerkalo. The cat litter box, painting set, and the Dizzy Dazzle Circle Spin are from RC Cluster. All of these can be won at The Arcade starting tomorrow! (Kittycat not included).

Are you excited for the new Arcade round? I still want the disinfectant spray from RC Cluster, so I’ll be looking for that next!

Formation

Did you know I’m a queen? No. Really. Let me explain.

Every Mardi Gras, the following Sunday is Super Sunday. At this time, Mardi Gras Indians come out to show off their costumes, which they painstakingly made over the course of a year, leading a tribe of people along with them to battle with others for superiority on the streets. The “battle” consists of song, dance, and the costumes themselves. It’s a dying tradition–which is why I’ve been trying to take up masking these past few years.

It used to be that Mardi Gras Indians created their costumes with whatever they could find. Sequins, beads, whatever they had. Over the years, costumes became more and more elaborate until it became a financial burden to create them. Feathers are going to cost you hundreds to make a proper costume now, beads another couple hundred. And everyone is always trying to outdo each other. This was a problem for me. How on earth could I even justify spending so much on plumage when I had bills, you know?

I figured I could replace the beads with clever painting (easy to do), but the feathers? That was a problem.

That changed with the help of some cosplayers, who showed me how to create faux feathers with spray paint and thick enough card stock. Thanks to them, I can carefully construct my cultural costume over the course of a year as tradition dictates.

Heads of tribes or Big Chiefs or Big Queens. Hm… Big Queen Cake. Do you think that’s a nice name?

GEMC Trawler at Half Hitch (Blake Sea)

Today I’m at Turnbuckle Island! I know Gogo was seaside recently too–this is also what I do on my spare time, I come to Turnbuckle, rez a ship, and sail on the Blake Sea. I just got this awesome trawler from GEMC, which is very fun to drive, so you’re welcome to come along whenever I’m sailing! I’m hoping to get a Bandit 60 soon.

I Follow The Gods Of Chaos

I Follow The Gods Of Chaos

We <3 Roleplay is back for another round of awesome stuff to make your SL more fun! Because of the inevitability that I won’t be able to showcase everything, I advise you to check out this shopping guide and see what’s for sale. Some of the really cool things that stuck out to me immediately, I’ve included in this shot. I’ll do another post with dresses later.

For now, though, I wanted to show off these awesome weapons from BAMSE and Empyrean Forge, as well as the animal skull from Yummy. I combined these with a cool armor set from Heretech for a look that lets me blend in with a battle sim like Chaos Indivism‘s (btw they’re recruiting right now).

With so much that We <3 Rp is offering, battle sims are something I’m becoming interested in. When I’m not golfing in SL, gardening, or sailing a boat on the Blake Sea, I like running around and blowing people up in combat. Think of combat sims as a neverending game of paintball, but with bombs. You don’t have to become a part of an SL military group to shoot people on a sim, but you should observe the rules when you visit one.

My top advice for engaging in combat in SL is: it’s fun, so don’t get angry if you die a lot. Everyone dies. Then they respawn and come back again. That’s video games for you! So if you visit a combat sim, set your home to the spawn point and remember to laugh.

Double Love

According to some people, I’m an “online crossdresser”, most likely because they don’t understand how Second Life works for those who are nonbinary (meaning, a gender identity which doesn’t fit with just “male” or “female”). If you want to understand a bit more, listen in on my story and see how this might stack up against your original opinion of nonbinary users in SL.

Back in 2003, I didn’t know what being genderfluid was. I do, however, remember making a beeline for the men’s section in a department store and buying slacks and oversized shirts to hide my figure. I had no idea why I was doing this. I was just doing it. Before I had a name for what I was, I did it and was happy, not caring about the weird looks other people in the store were giving me.

About ten years later, I began “masking” (as my people call it) for performance art and to play with gender again. I liked the way I felt when people said, “I can’t tell if you’re a man or a woman”. It made me feel powerful, like I had defied something and become a completely new person entirely. I took it and ran with it–it was my life, my rules, but those were not the things I practiced in SL yet. When a newspaper asked me to talk about my work, I talked about shifting genders when masking. I was proud of who I had become and you can find that article to this day. Continue reading

Birds And Flowers

It Doesn't Interest Me

These beautiful head branches from Naminoke are amazing! The birds not only are animated on the branches, but they sing, too. You can turn their sounds on and off with a single click as well. This is yet another awesome product you can find at We <3 Roleplay beginning tomorrow.

And yet, still more products from this round I want to show off! Also, thank you to Torley for this photo’s background! If you visit his Flickr, he has lots of textures available for use. Check it out here and download some stuff!

For those who are curious, here’s a low-res gif of the Naminoke birds moving around on their branches:

When I was taking this picture, I teleported my boyfriend in and he walked past me until I spoke. Then he turned around in surprise and said, “Holy shit, I thought you were a painting!” Maybe I should do that as a prank. 😀

Losing My Religion

Losing My Religion

The next round of We <3 Roleplay is opening this Friday! There are a lot of gorgeous items out this round (as always, honestly), but two of my favorite ones are this cape from Pucca Firecaster Creations, and this hair from Damselfly. The cape comes with a lot of different options for customization and looks great. Combined with this halo from random.Matter and the hair, I kind of look like a Germanic version of the Holy Mary.

Although I’m an atheist now, that was not always the case for me. During Christmas, a lot of the Catholic imagery I was familiar with as a kid comes flooding back. I miss the smells and sounds of the church, but I can’t really find myself wanting to return if I simply don’t believe anymore. Regardless, Christmas for me means sharing goodwill with everyone, even those who don’t celebrate, and showing people you love that you care for them.

Winter is also my favorite holiday (AND I was born in December–the 4th, in fact! :D), so regardless of anything else I loooove Christmas just because of the seasonal ambiance.

Are you religious? Will you be celebrating any holidays this season? Lemme know in the comments what your traditions are!

ALSO – I was trying to get a Peqe item in for this shoot but it didn’t go with the outfit. I’ll need to do a few more shots of W<3RP stuff with Peqe’s clothing! Until then, please check out her new releases here!

The Volcano

The Volcano

Just some moody shots as we approach Halloween! Are you already going to Halloween parties in RL or SL? I haven’t yet, but I have decorated my house with lots of pumpkins and string lights! I also think I might attend the official Creepy Crawl on Friday.

From 10-3pm on October 30th, users across the grid will visit selected haunted spots in Second Life while dressed in costume. So far the official haunt list isn’t up yet, but I’m sure it will be by the time the event starts! For more information about the Creepy Crawl, contact Xiola Linden.

The Volcano

I’m wearing the new Verve skin applier with my Logo head today! I’ll take a better shot for my next blog, but I wanted to show it off now because it’s so gorgeous. I love how there are several shades of red lipstick included in the applier package for me to pick from! You can buy the new skin and appliers here. For those of you with Catwa heads, yes, Verve has made appliers for that too!

SLink Physique Hourglass

SLink Physique Hourglass

I’ve always been happy with my SLink Physique body, but some residents wanted more curves and thicker thighs, etc. The newest  SLink Physique Hourglass body delivers ample curves and is noticeably thicker. You’ll see this body reviewed many times, so I’ll make this short and sweet.

Out of the box, the Hourglass body on my shape is way too curvy for my taste. I find the waist to hip ratio too extreme, but some residents seem to favor this look. With three slider tweaks (Waist, Love Handles, Breast Size), I was able to adjust my shape to something more moderate that still looks curvy without being extreme. As you can see, I am still my usual size, with slightly thicker thighs, which are lovely!

SLink Physique Hourglass

The new HUD is amazing, cos you can now toggle various sections of the body on/off, without having to click many parts individually.

Let me know if you’ve tried the new SLink Physique Hourglass body, and if you will be switching to it! I haven’t decided what I will do yet, but I will spend some more time tweaking the body so the proportions are my idea of well-balanced.
